They'll probably have the option to keep the ending they want that means.

If not, well, they've lost me as a customer along with a lot of others.. not to mention given their customers a slap in the face for complaining.  It'll become a lesson for customer relations students and university lectures about how NOT to carry out a marketing/damage control campaign.

Ya wanna know what's even sadder? Capcom recently stated in an interview that they are trying to change Resident Evil from a survival/horror franchise into a more action oriented one to draw in COD players. It's kinda wierd that they can't see that 95% of the COD fanbase ONLY plays COD and does not care about other games, so all their doing is alianating fans. More and more gaming companies seem to be adopting these sad trends and it's breaking my video game lovin' heartImage IPB.

That is my brother right there. He plays COD and the occasional racing game (Gran Turismo, etc.) and that's it. I actually tried to get him into ME, thinking that he'd like it as it was more of a shooter than some of the other stuff I usually play. His response?

"This is boring."

Trying to replay the first Mass Effect after playing ME3, I really noticed just how much they've cut out where dialog and exploration is concerned. I think the longest I went on the third game without a fight was maybe half an hour, whereas on the first one I just spent four wandering around the Citadel talking to people.

The more games start to "streamline" that experience, the more content gets lost and the less I want to play any more.

Yeah, I know what ya mean. I felt that me2 streamlined it way to much, but me3 got a lot of that right. Until the ending, of course. I just think it's silly to expect the same level of cash flow as COD, because that game is kinda mindless fun. And that's not an insult, I love me a mindless game now and then, but it's design isn't going to work with titles that are associated with being deep, story based experiences, like RE and ME.

The solar-system in ME3, where the Cerberus-base is, is named PAX.

Edit: Sorry, not PAX but "Anadius". It's neighbour-system is named PAX however.

One thing  I don't understand about the gaming industry: why does everyone want the COD players? They should just do their thing, and have their own fanbase.
I mean, if every game were to be like COD, can you see how boring it would be? Resident Evil is awesome because it is a survival/horror game. ME is awesome because it a single player, story and character focused action RPG.

Trying to change it will not attract enough new customers to replace those who abandoned the game because it changed. They need to understand this.

I hope this means what I think it means and things are not as it seems...

Dang! Stupid link.
Well, it's just an "Achievement unlocked"-sign, with 1000 GS and the text "Held The Line".

But the price could also be... cupcakes!

I'd die laughing if they had the DLC completion achievement called "Cupcakes"

XD Me too. I honestly think I'd get all teared up and emotional if it were "Held The Line" though. That would be the biggest wow moment in my gaming history.

I couldn't agree with you guys more. It is disheartening that every game developer now feels the need to go this route. They see the sales figures for cod and decide that they need to imitate it if they are going to make money.

I prefer my games to be those that make me think and have a more profound effect then bragging about your k/d to you friends who don't give two s**ts.

What happened to epic single player campaigns? They are being tarnished because a suit somewhere decided that it is better to divert resources into MP. Look at AC after the second the campaigns suffered, all because of the need to cater to the mp audience. Same thing happened here. I would love for a dev to buck the trend stick to their guns and make great SP games.

Rant over that's been bottled up for a while and I had to let it out somewhere.

Probably almost 100% noticed before and something of common knowledge:

I am playing through Arrival to finish off another character to hopefully import into ME3 (When/if they fix the endings) and one of the journal thingies says "I know I'm not the only one having those dreams"...

I know this is not a great find but it made me think of Shepard's dreams in the third game...perhaps providing more ammo for the IT...though dreams are already mentioned as part of indoctrination...I found it interesting that they mention it in the DLC just before ME3 making me think it was fresh in their minds maybe??

To be honest I just want the IT to be true

Yeah, I was thinking this before. You know, if the indoctrination theory were true, it would probably give more significant to Arrival mostly because of Object Rho.

I don't even care if IT is "true" ... I would just like to see BW embrace it and throw us a bone. For liability reasons I'm even OK with them saying IT isn't true if they embrace it to make an "alternate endings" DLC and have the endings we expected ...

Actually, I like the me multiplayer. But if it was proven to have taken away from sp, then I wouldn't miss it for a second. Some franchises are great for multiplayer, others are not. just take a look at how well the multiplayer, action-oriented res-evil game operation racoon is doing and you can see that focusing on that hurt them badly. And yet they still wanna roll with it. Sadly, a lot of the posts from bioware are sstarting to sound like this, more and more disconnect from the fanbase.

The MP in ME3 directly affects your Galactic Readiness Rating for SP... So... What happens once we stop playing the MP?

If by major you mean an announcement about a new ending, no. There has been a bunch of articles videos pictures random speculation though. Look for a djbare (mr. Bond) list post there was one about two pages back.

The prevailent opinion is that we will get an answer of sorts at pax this Saturday.

Same thing when you go off crack.  You get angsty, everyone around you stops coming around to talk, and next thing you know the galaxy's back to where it was before you went on it in the first place Image IPB

Hey all...

Haven't been around on BSN too much.  Like Jimmie_Rox did I miss anything important?  Anything worthy of going back and reading over?  Let me know here or PM me please?  Thanks!

Anyway... looking forward to Friday--  Saturday?  Ok, confused... BioWare's panel on the schedule is for Firday.  Or is there going to be two panels from them?

Anyway...  Maybe there will be some good news from BioWare...  We can hope and keep our fingers crossed!

In case you don't know this already -- HTL Community is pretty cool too, so if you have a few you might want to check it out!

Keeping the faith and hope alive!!
Lan

Edited because I am confused about when BioWare's panel is likely to be...

Well, I would love that BW did something official about it. Like I said before, an optional "opt-out of MP" patch. Optional, and would recalculate the points you could win for the GRR and whatever more you can only get through MP.

But I guess if they don't release it, I would welcome a "mod". If I can find such a thing.

Welp.. looks like PAX isn't going to be an announcement anymore.  They're going to be answering questions.

@masseffect @wintergirllover more news sometime this month? Werent you supposed to release some info re: endings during Pax?

Mass Effect‏@masseffect
@milish_art We said that we would have news this month and will be answering fan questions at PAX, but we haven't announced content.

If I were their PR department I'd strongly suggest at least some sort of announcement at PAX.  It would be in their interest to keep from pouring gasoline on a forest fire at this point Image IPB
