There are people who swear by this; but recently someone on the spoilers 'group' said there's no such thing (ALL eezo-based technology just stopping to work).

I really can't give a link, and the search function on this website is nonexistent. But someone will remember where it comes from.

and why should technology the races in MassEffect have build themselves (they copied the designes at first but improved uppon them) stop working?

argh, i hope bioware did not make it in any way like those spoiler-buddies say (i hope that it's fake or trolling by those spoiler-guys)

greetings LAX

Relax, Xoi stated in his "ending clarification" thread (linked earlier, maybe a page or so back) that the "all eezo-tech is fubar" part is not true. That's one of the few things that someone trolled up and spit out to freak people out further. The only tech that is destroyed in the "destroy" endings are Reapers, Citadel, Geth (they upgrade themselves with reaper tech), and EDI (built in part with reaper tech).

Which seems a little odd, since Shep supposedly lives in the best "Destroy" ending, but is also supposedly enhanced with Reaper tech, and would seem to be a contridiction, but oh well.  I'm not a "denyer" or anything, I just think its an interseting thing to consider :D

All I have to say is that.. If there are no better endings, even just the little tweak that Shep and at least /some/ of his crew end up stranded together.. Then, even if there /is/ a new game in the Mass Effect universe.. I'll just get it at a steep discount from a used game store months after release if I get it at all. And Just avoid all games from Bioware/EA as best I can in the future. I'm also pretty sure I'm not alone in that.

your not alone in that at all bro this is the last game i ever buy from ea/bioware its just sad after da2 and tor

I'll just reject these endings and substitute my own. Like even though they're stranded.. they still have enough tech so they can set out an Emergency beacon and still have coms so they can send out a signal, and ships with FTL ability can come and get them.. and Reunite them with the living shep. *nods* Either that or I'll just kill off shep in either the control or merge endings and have the disembodied Shep mind send ships to pick up the squad.

The issue is the first two games made it pretty honking clear the Reapers are in no way all-powerful. They just have a technological advantage (which as of ME2 was gone), and a handful of very dirty tricks they use to achieve rapid dominance over the organic races. Vigil pretty much lays the whole thing right out for you on Ilos in ME1. Judging from Sovereign and Harbinger, they're not even that intelligent, blessed with a strong knack for strategy, or adaptive. Actually, they're kind of stupid.

That's not to say they present no threat, quite the opposite. They just represent a big enough threat the galaxy would have to unite to defeat them, and that's kind of the point of the trilogy. They're certainly not powerful enough that a deus ex machina is remotely necessary to plausibly defeat them.

This.

Also, at least part of the problem is, even if beating the Reapers was set up as an impossible task, we've just spent two games repeatedly succeeding at supposedly impossible tasks, so there was definitely a feeling we could win this thing.  And when I talk about "winning", I'm not talking about simply defeating the Reapers.  One, we already knew we were going to do that before the game even starts (Bioware confirmed there was no "Reapers win" ending months ago.  Two, in cases like this, your enemy losing does not automatically equate to you winning.  Sure the Reapers may be gone, but I'd hardly call that a win for the galaxy if the very idea of galactic civilization pretty much ceases to exist.

As it turns out, everything weighs in on Earth. A planet that throughout the series the player hasn't been able to visit and is described as a mess in the future. Heck default Shepard is Earthborn and signed up to get away from it. The player has been given little to no connection to Earth and taught to care for the other races and the galaxy first, not just humans throughout the series and you've learned to care for them through your alien crew - your crew is your link to caring for the galaxy and they are insultingly tossed aside regardless of your choice. Now suddenly all these choices you've made only matter to Earth's survival, rest of the galaxy likely gets screwed.

I would think they are more satisfying in person. You give your crew a proper goodbye from the sound of it, and, aside from the random teleportation of the Citadel and the Normandy to move the plot along, Xio and the others enjoyed the ending.

And that was the hard evidence I was looking for.

Oh, well. C'est la vie. Or not really, in this case, I suppose.

Imma call photoshop on that one. Either that or EA left a typo in there. "By scouraging the galaxy /off/ the reapers threat again."  Off should be of.. and more nitpicky "reapers" should probably be Reaper. Reaper being a collective term since threat is singular. I may be wrong though. IM me with yo infoz. I'm willing to grasp at straws for a little bit.

And here is the video of the grandfather/grandson that servers as the epilogue for all endings (no audio, as audio is kept in separate game files).

Note how the two-moon sky is the same as where they crash land:

There you are! I thought you were ignoring me from the last time I didn't rise to your bait. Had me worried there, buddy.

As for that screenshot of the NG+, call me a skeptic, but I'm not so sure. Shouldn't the "locked ending" have been with the other extracted .bik files anyway, in that case?
