Are we talking about the Chairman or CEO? I googled them. On their website, they have them in avatar version too. It's cute.
So we can't get the ending we want after all?

Agreed, considering the sheer size of the Imperial fleet compared to the Rebels, even with the Death Star lost and the Executor destroyed, it takes a lot of suspension of disbelief to see the Rebel Fleet winning at Endor. But, OT Star Wars is awesome so I can overlook a few details, besides, sometimes you just need to have your good ending.
I always thought the Empire was awesome, the Emperor was such a great character, one of my favorite villains.
<------- Clearly you guys should know where I stand on this haha

I'm with you, they should have. Actually the fact Empire is ever conserned about the Rebel Alliance befuddles me. A huge, efficiently trained military vs rebels, riff-raff and random rogues (even if some of the older military personnel did join them).
I think Zahn's explanation about the Force mind control-thingy during Thrawn-trilogy is frankly stupid, but hey, he gave me Mitth'raw'nuruodo and any character modelled after Friedrich Der Große is an instant win, so he gets away with it.
Yea, I always thought that he did a pretty good job. The mind control thing was a bit of a cheap explanation, but I think he probably just wanted to explain it away and move on, couldn't really spend a whole book just explaining how the Rebels won. Thrawn was an interesting character, and the stories were pretty solid, so like you say I can forgive him.

Dunno about that.. you can pick "Leet" and "Pirate" for the forum board language at the bottom.. along with those other 'real' languages.
I doubt the EA CEO even has a twitter.. or if he does it's probably run by an executive assistant. Betcha he has facebook though.. heck my grandma has facebook.

Ending: everyone who matters dies. Protagonist seems to be alive but we don't get to know that. Nothing at all gets explained.
Meh.
So thats where they stole the ending, not Deus Ex at all !

It doesn't have Portuguese on the bottom of the page. Thanks, Bioware. Obvisouly "Pirate" is more important than a real language. Good thing I know English.

That's probably why after all these years, there are only two or three SW book by other authors I enjoy. I mean, Zahn has this wonderful pragmatic view about Force and doesn't focus on it.DirtyBird627 wrote...

Whenever authors decide to go Jedi the result is not imo good, maybe with the exeption of Hambly's Children of the Jedi, though I feel the book's so off-lore it hurts.
Then again, I don't see what other choice authors had, antagonist-wise, since post-Thrawn Empire is a joke. As Jedi Academy proved *cough* Admiral Daala *cough*

lol not at all, and im not sure exactly why i like it a lot, i think its the theme that seems to be in every episode that no matter how bad things may get something good will come of it in the end that i like the idea of, theres enough misery and unhappiness/unpleasant endings in the world as it is (ME3 added to them unfortunately) so anything to make things seem better is a plus
I've recently begun to rewatch TNG. And frankly, I am amazed how much I missed out on there as a kid. I mean the technobabble is nice, but the themes of the show are much bigger. But at least they stick with their central themes throughout all the episodes.
And in some similarity, I've always played my Shepard a bit like Captain Picard.
As for the resources needed to make a new or additional ending: Look at Arrival and LOTS. More than an hour long, rendered cutscenes, completely new levels and dialogue. Bioware can easily get the manpower and resources together to do this.
So I wouldn't worry about the "can they" but the "will they?"

Agreed, one of the biggest problems I had with the prequel series and many of the books was overuse and overemphasis on the force and lightsabers. Takes away the special nature of it if you use it all the time. In the OT, there was 1 lightsaber duel per movie, and a minimal use of the force, and don't get me started on the over-choreographed fights in the prequels. The lightsaber duel in ANH was slow and ponderous, but it has so much more meaning then any of the duels in the prequels.
Also, Admiral Daala.... lol

I may excuse Phantom Menace battles if I'm feeling un-characteristically cheery, since I do like Darth Maul. But he did train literally all of his life, so that means I cando the whole suspension of disbelief stuff happily.
But otherwise... sorry all ye jedis, but trained elite stormtroopers with assault rifles do beat people wawing glowy sticks. Even if those people have Space Magic
Daala is btw a victim of bad, BAD character writing if I ever saw one. Her PMS rage must be the sadest plot device, ghostchild AI excluded, ever. A woman who climbed the ranks to admiral doing what she does because she's sad her lover from which she hasn't heard from... wait, Thrawn-trilogy is what, 5-6 years post-Endor, Jedi Academy happens afterwards, Tarkin died in the first movie so... at the very least 7-8 years, is dead?
...they do give out promotions to just about anyone these days, don't they.

The senario is not quite as daft as it seems, and even leaving out the whole 'Force-directed' thing is not as far-fetched as you might think.
The Empire was large, but it also had to protect a vast area. As military forces have discovered throughout history numbers count for little if you have to spread them out over a large area, and your opponents are smart enough not to try and match strength with strength.
The Empires power was also a weakness because it was invested in a single individual, and then down to local warlords who were compeating for attention and power from the 'King'. Again, history shows that if you have a large empire with power invested in the above manner. Then the leader is killed, those warlords have a habit of fighting each other over who gets to rule next.
Last of all in the case of the Battle for Endor the Imperial fleet lost both of its commanders within minutes - first Admiral Piett, then the Palpatine. Coupled with the distinct 'by the book no exceptions' mentality of the Imperial Navy, this mean that without clear leadership and in a 'brawl' (in this case a very chaotic, close quarters fight) the Imperial Captains were unsure how to react.
Again this is supported by Naval history in the real world. Trafalger is a good example of a small fleet, with Captains who were expected to use their own judgement, taking on a far larger fleet who's Captains were not for the most part capable of thinking 'outside the book'. Like the (fictional) Battle of Endor the British fleet closed and engaged their opponents in a chaotic 'brawl', and as a result the command structure of the Spanish and French fleets vanished - not through death but because the flagship was obscured by smoke and unable to pass on orders. Unable to adapt many of the French and Spanish Captains just followed 'the book' - With the exception of The French Redoubtable (I think that's the right ship) the entire van of the combined fleet sailed peacefully into port without having fired a shot.
So intentional or not, Lucas and later writers did end up producing a senario that is reasonably 'realistic'.
