I'm trying to withhold judgement, but this just reeks of bad news. RIP Bioware, EA rEAped another game developer.

But without EA, there is no mass effect series due to the costs.  Stop blaming EA (I actually don't like EA but I understand how the business works).

Blame for the plot hole ending falls on Hudson.  This is his baby and he and his team of writers came up with a beautiful game (genophage story and geth conflict being prime examples) that they decided to dip into excrement at the very end.

Their vision ruined a universe that I held in higher regard than any other fictional universe.  I used to love star wars but it is too childish (jar jar).  This was a series for adults and they cracked under pressure when they realized they couldn't end it in a way that satisfied everyone.  They tried to be creative and artistic and it backfired horribly.

Aww Liara hug!

I'd like to get in on this hope, but like others have said this smells of a diversion tactic. They'll probably redirect questions to this release. <_<

/pessimist

Yeah I know how much Nharia loves her Blue Godess so I gave her a liara hug.

I'm not sure you really would want in on this hope, it's not very pleasant when it gets crushed <_<

I think they just think we are "mad" because ME3 is over and we can't say goodbye to the characters or to the story. That is absolutely not the case. Were they really reading? <_<

Unfortunately, a lot of posts out there focused on that alone. Blue babies, and why is that Normandy where it is?

Those are valid complaints, but neglect to flesh out the rest of the problems and it makes it far too easy for the receivers of the feedback to cherry-pick.

P.S. Sorry about the pink :?

Shepard is the only person who can pull off wearing pink and not have me turn my head in disgust~! *hugs back*  Yeah I hope this isn't true, but with all that's been going on my hopes aren't that high...

But there was a lot of really good stuff on their own feedback thread....
If they really were paying attention they would have noticed the good stuff along with the Blue Babies ect.

Reasons to not freak out yet:

1. We don't actually know what this content will entail and it's hard to think of any way that the current ending could be twisted to give closure. So who knows.

2. We fought hard and stuck to our guns in a positive way and actually changed something for better or worse.

3. We've done some good helping kids

4. It's free! So at least we'll all get to try it before deciding for ourselves whether we will continue to support BioWare.

5. We have affected the video game industry as a whole and in doing so exposed a few sites that we had believed to be on our side for what they really are

Not going to lie, but I would rather get a paid DLC that would give me a lot more "closure" aka really fix the ending not just put more glitter on it *coughcough* Broken Steel *coughcough*
<_<
Also, Fallout 3 had done it before, so it isn't really new. Even Arthur Conan Doyle brought back Sherlock Holmes after fans got mad at him for killing the character.

Oh, no sir. Nooo, sir. I didn't spend hours gnashing my teeth and rending my garments in despair because I was too stupid to understand the endings properly. Spackling plot holes is not good enough.

I mean, you know what this sounds like, right? It would legit not surprise me even a little if they shipped out an 'expansion' with more cutscenes detailing just how damaged the earth got, added back in that cutscene of your final squaddies getting killed (closure, right? Now you know what happened to them =D ) and then out of the goodness of their hearts, an extra shot of people on earth looking up at the sky or something.

No, sir, I want to smack this down hard.

Haha well glad I didn't anger you.

My hopes aren't too high, infact they may be very very small and almost completely crushed at the moment.

May I just suggest that we step back and regain some composure? This is amazing news. No, it isn't everything we asked for -- it may end up being little of what it actually needs to be -- but this is the answer. It isn't going to change, and I strongly urge everyone to focus on the fact that BioWare did respond, that the DLC is free, and that we achieved in this much more than most "experts" believed we would -- or should.

Most of all, let's have the grace and maturity to allow BioWare to move forward with this with their "skin" intact. (EA - who cares, but BioWare -- they are doing what I'm sure many of their peers in the industry begged them NOT to do, and that means something). They aren't going to grovel and say "we screwed up" and we should let them save as much face as they feel they need to save. Read between the lines. This is an admission -- yes, an incomplete one, but still an admission -- that things needed to be "fixed." How that would happen has always been their decision.

The announcement leaves a lot of room for a lot of things to happen that can be good, in spite of the things that make me wince. The worst thing we can do at this point, IMO, is to step right into the roles critics have predicted who said "they won't be satisfied no matter what BioWare does, because they are entitled whiners who just want their way."

We were never all going to get everything we hoped for. Let's continue to be civil, thank BioWare for what we do know at this point, and marvel at the fact that we actually did change things. No matter what we see in the end, that means something. A lot, actually.

Just my thoughts. Gotta go to work. You folks -- all of you -- are amazing.

On the bright side, I expect a new 10 secs on the end of the "best" destroy ending, where Shep breathes in sharply ...... then dies :P

i am happy for you, but it still leaves the the fact you destroy the mass relays and the only true way to defeat the reapers is by commiting mass genocide. As i said before if this is there reply my mass set will be returned on sat morning i will not wait for an ending i dont like to be clarified to me as if i dont have the intelligence to not understand.

Yes you are right, the mass relays are still destroyed.. I don't like that either.
I just hope, that the galaxy will have a way to rebuild and not be torn apart as the mass relays are exploding.

The ending took away everything that was achieved in the whole series..
This needs to be undone, even when it's by explaining that in this special case the relays don't go supernova.

Currently I have no concerns about this free DLC, I know full well I can take my business elsewhere if need be, if it turns out to be a gloss over the plot holes, them I'm out, simple as, fortunately I never had an affair with Bioware, we used each other,

I'll definitely need the popcorn for PAX, if this is the official statement that they will also bring in on PAX, alot of retakers will be prepared for this and have some questions lined up... i mean ill admit i was baffled and awestruck for a few minutes, but when i got to actually reading it and reading it again, i took it at what it actually stands for... And im sure now the people at PAX will have some pressing questions. Henceforth... popcorn!

That is exactly what's in my thoughts at this moment.  If they can get enough ppl to jump for joy over this "free" dlc then they'll hope the retake movement will disappear and then they can go on with other dlc.

Actually, doing that they'll lose a lot of future sales, not just "annoying people posting on the forums". Many of us, for instance, have our SWTOR accounts on hold till the actual announcement is made, and you can be pretty damn sure that doing a half-assed move from their part would make us forget about their MMO too.

I know. People put a heck of a lot of thought into their feedback, which is going to sting if none of it gets acknowledged. But for someone trying to find the simplest possible compromise, that's the kind of stuff that's going to jump out. If it looks like a lot of people are going to be made happy simply by the addition of blue babies and an explanation of the Normandy scene, that's what they'll run with. A lot of the rest ... is intelligent feedback, but not a half as simple to change, especially when they can put that off as being the concerns of only a subset.

Am I being too mistrustful here?

On a side-note, I was really surprised at how many people picked the Normandy scene as their first issue with the endings. I had enough trouble getting past the star kid. But then this is probably pointless  to say now.

What I fear is that this an attempt to quell those of us who are thoroughly disheartened by the end. If they tell us there is something in the works then they can go ahead and release there paid DLC in hopes of getting the results ($$$) they had hoped for and possibly get a few of us to get the DLC as well. For me, I'll wait until summer and see what this "clarification" is. If solves any of the plotholes for me (not sure how this is possible) THEN I'll get the the paid DLC's they will have already released. I believe they know that there paid DLC numbers will not be as high as expected with things as they are but if they appear to give us something then maybe they can still get there DLC numbers as high as they wanted.

Guess, I'll just hold line and keep looking for news.

For the first time since I began holding the line I am speechless and think I need a hug because I feel crushed, I hope I'm actually able to finish my ending rewrite tonight when I get to it now, this information kind of ruined my day but I've got to hope PAX will bring some details that make things look better than they seem

Well, if all we're getting is an extended cut... then my money will be going elsewhere. I just won't be able to trust Bioware anymore to deliver on their promises.

This is well stated, and yes people will not be 100% happy regardless of what BioWare does.  But, if you put lipstick on a pig, it is still a pig.

If this really does improve the ending, then I agree with you.  If it is just an attempt to justify the garbage, well, I won't be buying any more BioWare games until my peers have had a chance to play and review them.
