I understand and respect those who have a problem with the entire ending, and while starchild is not the ending I'd have picked, it is the ending Bioware's writers wanted to provide.

I have always wanted closure, an attempt to address in canon the plot holes created by the ending cinematic, and some indication that the choices I made through the series had a marked effect on the galaxy.

I consider this a victory. Bioware is extending us the conditions of its surrender, and I am willing to accept them and reforge the bonds of friendship and, perhaps someday, trust.

To paraphrase an old friend, "You did good, kids. I'm proud of you"

If this "DLC" fails then Bioware fails to. Because simply they said they are listening and when they messed this up they dont even listen which means supporting bioware any further would only end up in a mess because they are not listening. I hope that comes right my english is not the best.

BUT i hope it will really be this special thing we are all holding the line for! Not just a "oh yeah and thats how the united fleet of the galaxy starves to death"

I knew it once they announced something, everyone would show up again lol

I wonder why they decided to announce it on the day before PAX...to inform us and prepare us for what they would announce at PAX?

I'm now jealous of every Fallout 3 fan...how did they get a completely new ending?

"new content" sounds good as it is mentioned in addition to epilogue and clarity/cutscenes. Suggests more options.

Thats enough for me to go to bed. Night all and stay positive.

I'm sorry, but without either an alternate ending or some sort of nod to indoctrination, I will not be happy with this game.

Let me see if I got this straight: they're releasing an extended cut?

Aparentemente só alguns vídeos "explicando" o que aconteceu... Uma bosta, mas eu não esperava muito mais do que isso mesmo. Tomara que nenhum dos moderadores fale português... aeuhauh

Apparently, just some videos "clarifying" what happened... Sad, but I wasn't expecting much more than that.

Probably to keep the storm away from PAX. If people had no news they'd just get pelted with questions about the ending.

At the moment Valve and Bethesda are the only companies that I still will buy right out the door for games. Maybe the Witcher guys too. Loved what they did for FO3 :D Plus obsidian. old time fallout 1/2 makers.

Haha, well, we were never really gone - just gathering our strength.

I'm sure announcing it the day before PAX is a way to try and take pressure off their panel.  Now they can go in with (what I'm sure they hope will be) a positive atmosphere and talk about how awesome they are instead of everyone staring daggers at them while they make their way to their mics.

By paying for it, Bioware or EA, I'm betting on the latter, decided to give minimum closure in a free DLC, it becomes difficult to protest without being called whiney after accepting a give away, as I already stated, what we are left with at the end of the day is control over our own spending, I'm holding off purchasing any other DLC they put out until I've seen the free one in the summer, I don't want to go through my games again only to end up feeling numb.

May I just suggest that we step back and regain some composure? This is amazing news. No, it isn't everything we asked for -- it may end up being little of what it actually needs to be -- but this is the answer. It isn't going to change, and I strongly urge everyone to focus on the fact that BioWare did respond, that the DLC is free, and that we achieved in this much more than most "experts" believed we would -- or should.

Most of all, let's have the grace and maturity to allow BioWare to move forward with this with their "skin" intact. (EA - who cares, but BioWare -- they are doing what I'm sure many of their peers in the industry begged them NOT to do, and that means something). They aren't going to grovel and say "we screwed up" and we should let them save as much face as they feel they need to save. Read between the lines. This is an admission -- yes, an incomplete one, but still an admission -- that things needed to be "fixed." How that would happen has always been their decision.

The announcement leaves a lot of room for a lot of things to happen that can be good, in spite of the things that make me wince. The worst thing we can do at this point, IMO, is to step right into the roles critics have predicted who said "they won't be satisfied no matter what BioWare does, because they are entitled whiners who just want their way."

We were never all going to get everything we hoped for. Let's continue to be civil, thank BioWare for what we do know at this point, and marvel at the fact that we actually did change things. No matter what we see in the end, that means something. A lot, actually.

Just my thoughts. Gotta go to work. You folks -- all of you -- are amazing.

This.

If the announcement is true AND if I'm reading it properly and it's a "clarification of existing endings + epilogue of existing endings" then it's more corporate strategy / positioning ... grrrrr.

If the above is true this is one of those "apply the least effort so we can get them to shut up" moves.

Lets face it:

-- Some Retakers may think this is the best compromise they'll get and will go away
-- Some Retakers may just give up because BW isn't listening to their specific needs
-- Some Retakers may be pleased enough with what they get to go away

I suspect that those folks that are left won't be enough to keep the Retake movement going.

Note: I figure I'm going to be one of those folks left out in the cold. I wanted new endings that complied with the spirit of BW's prelaunch statements. Not choices of slavery / ethnocide / genocide with an Epilogue attached that will give everyone a "unique ending shaped by their choices" ...

bah humbug

this :(

Well said sir, well said...

Hhuahua, a beleza de falar português. Se eu nao me engano, so tem uma pessoa na equipe que eh brasileiro, e ele nao fica aqui nao

This is so depressing. I just hope they give us at least the "investigate" on the dialogue wheel when talking to the kid.

Considering that Fallout 3's ending wasn't AS BAD (by far) as ME3's one... I'm wondering that too.

Bathesda had forsight?  They didn't want to destroy the future earnings potential of their future games?  They didn't want something like an ending destroy the Bathesda Brand?  Fans rewarded them in kind in 2011.  I'm looking at you The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.  It was the #3 best selling game of 2011.

Well they probably thought announcing this in advance (and not at PAX) would mean less water bombs thrown (please don't do it) at them during their panel. God I really hope they elaborate on this, and explain clearly what this is going to be about. I mean nobody's going to be spoiled anymore, we've all played the game and we all know how it ended.

You know I actually think I could swallow nothing better than "clarity" which is pretty much them saying "Your all dumb f**ks so here have some free DLC and shut the hell up"

*sigh*
Holding The Line until Tomorrow (PAX) after that I don't even know what I will do....

I really hope the panel at PAX tomorrow has some more concrete answers. Waiting until summer sometime (could be June, could be August) will kill me if the only word I have to go on is "clarification." That could mean anything.
