Ugh, I just read  http://blog.bioware.com/2012/04/05/mass-effect-3-extended-cut/

Dear Lord..  they're in fact keeping the RGB endings (and only those, there won't be a fourth "screw your solutions" option added in, judging by this) and sticking to their "artistic vision".. to make us buy more dlc and, of course, multiplayer packs..  oh well. Can't say I'm surprised, really.

Just terribly disapointed.

I'm f---ing done.  The artistic vision argument is being played like those who quote scripture to defend horrendous acts.  No one is beyong reproach, especially not a corporate 'artist'.

Let's face it, we have lost.  EA has outplayed us.  They are releasing 'free' DLC to make the endings 'better', so all the media outlets, including our 'friend' Paul Tassi over at Forbes are declaring we have won and anyone who doesn't agree is a whiney brat.

They have singlehandedly discreditted all of us while making the work think that they did what we asked.

There is no more line left to hold.

Yup, I'm just not buying any games from Bioware anymore.

So what exactly could we accomplish now beyond just hurting their sales and making our point known with boycotts and further reparations to Bioware? I mean they're not willing to fix the series, so that leaves us in a situation here with very limited options.

We put more pressure !!!
in few minutes BBC will publish another article about us again.
They interviewd me .
Told them that we are catious and we want proper resolutuon to choices and consequences ofa our actions.
not just few cutsceens here and there.that will no do.
We will hold the line ,
we will pile more presuure.
The thing for me is this.
i dont care which ending bioware cosiders as CANON as long as I have my Happy ending and 15 others that will give my Shepard closure.

Ooookay, I've read the EA statement and blog post. I don't need to wait for summer to know I will still have to see god-kid-VI-AI-deus-ex-machina in my ending. By this "clarification" they call me an idiot who don't understand their artistic mind. So be it. The line I personally will hold from now on is between my money and their wallets. I'm outta here.

I'll check out the extended ending. I don't expect much in terms of filling in plot holes, but maybe the closure will be enough and move on.

Back to Skyrim and another play through of The Witcher 2 for me. Diablo 3 is out in just over a month.

Can you believe I traded Skyrim in a week after I beat it because I was tired of fighting dragons everytime I wanted to walk somewhere? ugh....now I have to get it back when I trade in ME-3

Huum , a free dlc means frequently: a bad dlc , cause they just don't care about it , and they still believe their ending is so great and "artistic" , so , we will just have a 5mins cinematics for trying to explain this mess , that's all , sounds like a defeat for me...

ah, a 5 minutes cinematic won't require months to be made

Urgh, I knew this would happen. The endings need to be "clarified". Which is basically saying: "You guys just can't see the artistic GENIUS that we put into the game! Here, let us show you our brilliant work!" You know that saying, if you have to explain a joke it isn't funny? Same thing here. No amount of clarification is going to remove the gaping plot holes introduced through a retarded Deus Ex Machina, in a series that thus far had inner consistency.

The endings are Narrative Incoherent...

Is everyone  at Bioware complete deviod the ablitity  to  tell  Hudson and Walters  - NO , these endings are not acceptable.

are those to soo damn sensitive  about their so called "Artistic Vision" that they can't take  criticism when wrong.
Why the hell are they being  nursed like freaking children?

The funny thing is, I've seen this happen before. Hell, I've done this before! It's an incredibly tempting trap to ignore negative criticism, and claim that the people criticising you have no idea what they're talking about. However, true artistic integrity comes when you can accept all forms of criticism and work from there.

As it stands right now, the people in charge of this ending are just making themselves look like a bunch of amateurs.

After reading the official post about the ending DLC, I'm left both hopeful and disheartened.

On the one hand, there wont be a different ending, which means BioWare will have to do a dang good job of explaining the glaring plot-holes and the god-child that makes no sense.  I think the phrase I'm looking for is, "making the garbage smell better doesn't change the fact that its still garbage."

However, we don't yet know how exactly BioWare will "expand" the endings or what "closure/epilogues" they have in mind.  So I'm remaining hopeful that they will find a way to redeem the endings, but also a bit skeptical that the current endings can be redeemed.

Thoughts?

Also, does this pretty much disprove the Indoc theory?

Well that's a insult.Guess I'll stick to Witcher 2 when I get it this month and IGNORE EA/BWs demand for my money in exchange for their crappy multiplayer B.S.All ME3 was made for was to sell multiplayer packets and cram multiplayer down peoples throats that would never have bought a multiplayer DLC to the game.If you play only 3 you have no feel for the LI or your team, you don't care who you kill off.Not only holding the line I'm fixing bayonets!.

We got them to acknowledge us and address us (although in a very unsatisfying way) but can we find another way to put the pressure on them to give us the multitude of endings we were expecting? They have drawn their line in the sand with this "clarification" stuff how do we get them to do more?

Ugh, I can only imagine that there will be riots tomorrow at PAX East. Part of me thinks BioWare is idiotic for positing this the day before their panel but another part of me realizes that this is a cop-out for them tomorrow when someone asks about the ending.

"The ending? We've already released a statement about that. Next question."

I'll be holding the line until summer and hopefully we'll make enough noise to get their attention again, but my hope and heart has literally been shattered by this.

Okay, this is exactly what I was expecting all along.

That being said, my relationship with Bioware is over. There's nothing more to say.

It was great holding the line with you guys. Hopefully I'll see some of you on future non-Bioware releases.

ok, ill get the dlc, then ill play it. if we have to grasp at straws to make any sense at all out of it (like indoc theory) and its still bitter like before, then ill say goodbye bioware.

im absolutely not interested in DA3 at this point. what should i buy it for? to get another "bittersweet ending" which tells me, that all my efforts are for nothing regardless of what i do?

uhm. so.. i don't know.
i'm exhausted and tired now and it's only 6pm.

i'll wait for pax tomorrow, but i don't have any hope left. i don't think i'll stay around afterwards.
time to sell my collectors edition and everything else. i'm just so very tired of all this ****.
consumerist said it right 'stop treating your loyal customers like crap.'

so they're basically telling us that we're just too stupid to understand their ending? fair enough.

i'm just tired now. this has been an exhausting three weeks.
for the moment, it's been an honor with you guys, you kind of made it fun, you're all quite amazing.

silencemayday out for a while.

I have not posted for a long while on this thread. After reading the blog however I am so very dissapointed. I really thought that Bioware were going to pull something amazing out of the hat. I also believed that these endings were just a pre-courser to the real ones. However I think the greatest offence is their continued use of this 'artistic integrity' argument. If those endings were art I could take a dump on a piece of paper, smudge it over it and call that art. How would they like that? I was so hopeful. I didn't want this to be my last Mass Effect game, but I think it will be.

It was good Holding the Line.
