So we can't get the ending we want after all?

We need to voice our disagreement to their statement! They need to hear what we think, it wont happen with everyone just taking goodbyes, wait for PAX, Hold the line. *inserts Hackett speech*.
Cmon guys! I know this is hard, but it has to be done! Who else will besides us??

It just feels like more damage control without any real actions/promises. And still they treat their customers like idiots who don't understand their art&vision. That DLC better be at the same quality level as Lair of the Shadow Broker was. And actually make our actions and decisions matter. Not just few minutes of cinematics and text scrolling. Only good thing I can see in that it will be free......
And if Bioware/EA thinks I will now happily spent my money on their products they couldn't be more wrong. I don't have any trust left for them and slow loosing all respect towards Bioware.
I'll keep lurking here and giving my less verbal support to you guys as before. Now lets hope hour or two in sauna will wash this horrible feeling away:(

As I recently posted in the actual news forum, just so proud of it that I felt that it had to be repeated here:Currently, Bethesda developers are in a meeting with something along the lines of this being said:
"Perkins, what's the news with EA and Bioware?"
"They f**ked up, sir."
"Alright, that's our cue gentlemen, what do we have on the table to bring in the angry Bioware fans?"
"We should have something to show off by the time they're done with their statement at PAX, sir."
"Excellent, this is the moment we knew was coming for a month now, remember everyone, put on your honest faces and halos, they won't be able to resist the offers of DLC we can give them."
"Sir, apparently several other companies are also preparing DLC and news about their games to drive the population away from Mass Effect 3, should we do something about it?"
"No Perkins, We'll all work together on this one and blow Bioware out of business in one fell swoop."
"Sir, you're a genius, no wonder we aren't in the position they're in."
"I know, right? What kind of idiot writer thinks that people would be happy with a kid apparently controlling everything, and then seeing everyone they know and love being stranded on a planet with some of your best friends doomed to starvation and the rest doomed to die from overpopulation?"
I feel so proud of myself... is that a bad thing?
Not at all, I think it's safe to say that's exactly what's happening at all major companies right now.
That made me laugh. Thank you. Also, yes, it would be GOOD FOR BUSINESS to do this. (emphasis for Bioware/EA)

Yeah...sounds like a plan. I have $20 I can add.
I've got... about 400 that I could in theory donate, however that money is for food, so lets go with another $20

This isn't a victory, this is something you give people to shut them up. Like a pat on the head of an errant child.
You keep the endings, you keep the glaring plot holes.
And a wall of text, or some extra scenes won't make anybody happy in the long run. Because the vile taste of the things that happened before will be still in the mouths of your fans.
We want something decent, not a shut-up thingy.

And they do it because they are intent on exploiting the mass effect universe for future games.
But they chose not to modify the endings and we all have to respect it.
Be glad of what you've accomplished, it's unprecedented in video game industry. But thinking you will get more is delusion.

They are trying to fool people with the announcement and it being "free" but the real cost is the destruction of the mass effect franchiseJere85 wrote...

Thanks Bioware, please take your little Extended Cut ending, and be happy with it. We won't. You lost your costumers.
You know what? For me, Bioware is dead. They don't listen to their costumers, they lie to us about their products content, and they use excuses which are as much reasonable as the theory of the earth beeing a plate with the sky pinned above it.
I hope you can be happy with your "Artistic integrity". As soon as you have to fire people from the company because you have a lost in income, ask them and their familys if this integrity will feed their familys...

The thing is, how can they do new games in the universe with the Mass relays gone? They're what held the universe together. I'm not saying earth is totally screwed, but the fleets of the galaxy are stranded in its orbit, the Turians and quarians will have a hard time finding something to eat and it will take a buttload of time to get home, if they can make it at all without the jump-drive.
So yeah, it's the end of Shepards story...and its universe. Can't put it differently.

ME3 is a piece of software. Seriously. It is NOT art.
Software can be elegant, it can be beautiful, but it will never be art.
Why? Because software exists to perform a function, whether it be to entertain, to provide automation, to peform a business function, or to solve a complex problem. It is a product, meant to be consumed.
Very well put, sir.
Who the heck came up with the "video game is art" story? It isn't.
Window 8 is not art; it's a program.
Solitaire is not art; it's a game.
Mario Kart is not art; it is a freaking video game!!
*sighs* Honestly, they just set a scary precedent. I can now see video game companies making horrible games, not hearing any feedback and saying that they won't change anything because it will harm their "artistic integrity" <_<
True Artists is a starving artists
