**minor spoiler**

As to the people saying that the Normandy fleeing makes no sense...Think of it like this. Your on the Normandy, you see your commander and countless others charging towards the beam and being wiped out. Had I been on the Normandy and saw that we were screwed, I wouldn't have just sat there and watched to see if bossman (or lady depending on your choice) gets back up. I would have gotten all the crew members I could find and ran like there was no tomorrow.  Morale can break in the face of death, people scatter. They tend to look after their own people (clans, race, shipmates, etc) and Joker has shown he has no respect for the alliance. Thats just how I see it anyway, I could be wrong. :)

Except that for the past 2 games all the heroes proves that they are going to stand by each other to the death, so seing them flee just does not fit their personalities no matter how you slice it :)

Thats true, but everybody has a breaking point. Seeing that much carnage at that point could break their minds. In that case, a person would revert to the primitive fight or flight. With the reapers being that much stronger, I would think that flight would win out. It may not be flattering to our hereos, but it is an idea of possible reason why. And like I said, I could be wrong. Unless Bioware comes out and says the reason why (via the clarification dlc) and gives the official reason,  thats the reason I'm going with. :) I'm sorry some of you do not like the ending, but I immensly enjoyed it. I enjoyed the story, I was never lost or confused. I even enjoy the multiplayer aspect of it.

So... that's it, then? Shepard dies, the relays blow up, the crew and Shep's LI abandon him for a space jungle, and the Mass Effect universe is ruined forever?

Wow. Just... wow. Incredible. How the hell could Bioware think that's a good idea?

Well Shepard gets to die like a prostitute lives. On his/her back taking a lot a crap shoved up the nether regions without a fight.

True, even if blunt and straighforward.

It is not very common to do something like this with hen laying golden eggs.

I must have missed that one - how did they make that link? I certainly don't have Casey Hudson locked in my guest room......

I can't remember which one it was to save my life. But basically they were implying that the movement is Kathy Bates, making the nightmare of any artist reality to Bioware, trying to paint us as deranged fans with no life outside of the artificial reality of ME.

I most certainly am deranged, but ME has nothing to do with it. I was caught up with Sandman long before ME was even dreamt

Artistic vision and artistic integretiy are words used by egomaniacal individuals who do not respond well to criticism.  If BioWare keeps at it, they might end up being the starving artists they are trying to be.

*hands out green, blue and red paperbags* to everyone who feels like KaiserinKai about the Extended DLC Cut something they posted.

Well, I give them the benefit of the doubt, but honestly, I don't want to anymore. They ignored us, then told us kinda we are dumb to not understand their artistic vision and then the announce an extended DLC which will most likely be just a "how can you be so dumb and not understand our artistic vision"-DLC that explains what we clearly missed with more space magic.

But oh well, I already canceled all my preordered games from ANY developer until I get the first impressions of people who finished the game. Bioware further opened my eyes to informing myself what I get into before I buy a game. Sad really, that it had to be a Game developed by Bioware to accomplish that.

Well, I'm in the wait-and-see corner. I don't have very high hopes, but maybe Bioware will surprise us and manage to fix things up properly. I will admit I don't really think it's possible by "clarifying" the current ending (not without either going the indoctrination route or creating even bigger logic and plot holes), but I'm willing to give Bioware a shot...

I will say this. I do want to see how they attempt to write their way out of some of the holes they have created. Assuming they attempt to do so at all.

it seems like bioware is just going to give us a couple of extra scenes that will explain things a little better. But when you have to explain things you know you went wrong some where. Also it will probably be a short dlc because its free and they dont want to spend the money to create something good. i dont know if this free dlc will improve anything. I hope it does but i just lost so much faith in bioware that i dont know.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen a company commit suicide before. The press release was the end of Bioware. I mean, honestly, explanation DLC? Have they not been paying attention?

I'm livid.

Are you guys serious right now????? I have been with you guys all along saying we needed change, agreed with all the rebillion you guys made and was proud to be apart of this. But seriously??? They release a DLC that is probably going to fix the ending ( WHAT EVERYONE HAS BEEN ASKING FOR) AND also going to give it to us for free???? That is more than we asked for, it is time to give up guys, we won the fight, we held the line, its done, honestly i think you guys now are just being 2 year old brats who think they are entitled to everything and just arguing to do so because you have nothing else to do. Give up, we won, were getting the DLC and it will also be free, now go enjoy a perfect game, stop at the end, and wait for the DLC and stop ****ing here.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?

  • No. BioWare strongly believes in the team’s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.

I've been a fan of BioWare since KotOR. I own every game they made since then. I even went back and bought NWN and all it's expansions recently. I became such a fan because of two things 1) I love the universes, stories, and characters BioWare make and 2) they have always kept their promises. They say they are listening to fans feedback, they listen. They say they'll release a toolkit for one of their games, they release the bloody toolkit. I tell you this so you understand how passionate of a fan of BioWare I was.

On my first playthrough of ME3 I wasn't going for a happy ending, nor was I going for a bittersweet ending. I was going for a pure downer ending. I wanted to see the characters I had come to love die. I wanted to see them go out in glorious last stands and ignoble ambushes. I wanted to see the despair on Shepard's face as her friends were cut down one by one before her very eyes. I wanted to see her resolve falter and hope fade as the allied forces of the galaxy were systematically destroyed. I wanted to hear Harbinger taunt Shepard on her deathbed and see the cycle begin anew. I wanted to see the Reapers WIN.

My second playthrough was to be glorious. I was to unity the galaxy, kick Reaper ***, and finally provide stability to not only the galaxy but a certain psychotic biotic. Sure I would sacrifice, but those sacrifices would be remembered not by scattered, tattered remnants of civilizations but by millions of people working as one force for unity and peace.

Did I get that? No. No,   I didn't. Will I get that with this Extended Cut DLC? NO I WILL NOT! So to me, we have not won, we have made progress, yes, but success is still a ways off. All because of that one bullet point. Because BioWare would rather keep their "artistic integrity" over basic integrity and trustworthiness. And you know what? I'll respect their choice because it was their choice. But if they choose artistic integrity over basic integrity they can kiss a fan -and a longtime, passionate one at that- goodbye.

this is me holding the line for the last time. I am retiring from all things bioware I am uninstalling all of their games and origin and never returning to the forums. I beat Mass effect 3 in 3 days after release, I had made sure I used my Mass effect 2 paragon shep I had my renegade shep ready for my second playthrough. Unfortunatly we have lost, we tried, we maintained civil discourse through this and it was all for naught. No admission from bioware that they botched the ending no admission that there were glaring plotholes just pandering and condecending answers. So I quit. I quit the line I quit Mass effect and I quit caring about supporting this company. Goodbye my friends you have been a source of hope and inspiration.
