Here here, Computim. I was extremely disappointed in the endings because of the plotholes, the lack of clarity and the lack of closure. I wasn't thrilled about the AI kid either but those things were at the top of my list. Right now, I'm just going to wait and see what these endings entail. If they still damage the universe as I felt they did before, that will be the end of Mass Effect for me. If not, huzzah!
Yes, my faith in Bioware will be shaken because I will personally feel they failed to properly close out the epic story they created. This is no different then saying, "Man I don't know if I'm going to see the next Steven Spielberg film in the theaters because the last few were just awful." (Spielberg's just an example, I don't know if his last few have really been awful.)
I have also been upset with some of these past quotes I've seen from developers, such as the ABC ending. I'm not forgetting that. There has just been a lot of doom and gloom surrounding this announcement but a wise man named Eric Idle once said, "Always look on the bright side of life." One reason I refuse to give up all hope is because I remember that up until that last 10 minutes, we got a fantastic game.
Now, I'm not saying the revised ending will be work. I don't know. I'm still skeptical after what we got. I just hope we can keep things civil and not freak out too much until we get a bit more information. After all, what do we know? We know there will be an epilogue, yes? What will be in the epilogue? Who knows? We'll see.
I just think it's ok to be skeptical but it's too early to condemn something we know very little about.

My feelings pretty much mirror yours.  Glad to have you on the line with us!  I really hope there'll be more than what they've said.  It just seems like they're being stubborn regardless of the effect it has on their business.. which doesn't give me much hope for too many more chances at good titles in the future if they're going to herd their most passionate fans into a box and tell them "This is what you get, take it or leave it" Image IPB

http://blog.bioware....3-extended-cut/ - the FAQ on the new "extended cut"

Hey Comp... *sighs* so how are you feeling after the storm of texts and what not from earlier?

Hey!  I posted a big long thing a couple pages back that explains it a lot better.. as for the texts, it amused most of my colleagues at work, and enamoured me with the Social Media person we have there.  Just happy I don't get charged by the incoming message lol.  I guarantee I didn't wake up expecting it, honestly I think someone at EA released it accidentally before the official announcement was supposed to come out later today or tomorrow.  It just didn't seem organized enough of a release and I think we kinda surprised them with how quickly we all came together immediately after it lol.

So.... As for expecting:

Krogans fighting
Primes kicking ass
Rachni tearing zhit up
terminus system fleets actively engaging reaper dreadnaughts
Geth fleet being in space battles
Multiple cutscenes depicting the space battle
2hr long extra fighting through the citadel, depicting what we did to strengthen c-sec actually mattered
Bulldong tricolor ending Where you friends bail out on you. Galactic technology is destroyed. Galactic fleet is stranded. Most if not all will starve to death.

etc...etc...etc...etc...

Zipo, nada, nothing...

Man I thought i'd feel sadder but lol HA I aint. Can't expect much from Bioware, let alone EA.

HOpe future companies will learn, probably not they are all too stupid.

GETTING INVOLVED WITH ELECTRONIC ARTS IS A FAUSTIAN BARGAIN

Bioware is just their latest casualty. Thank god EA sold most of its share from ubisoft. EA stay the hell out of good games.

Although hopefully the app age will help alot small companies not having to rely on big publishers like EA to get their product to the audience.
Your day will come EA your day will come.

Is it just me or does this "extended cut" sound like a lie? Or rather, that it won't fix any of the issues presented, it just a way for BW to remove some of the pressure.

This is basically how things have gone down:

Bioware: Hey, thanks for buying our game! We're ending it with X.
Customers: Seriously? X sucks. We want Y.
Bioware: No. We're ending with X.
Customers: Ha ha. No, really - get rid of X and give us Y.
Bioware: No, you can't have Y. How about Z? Z explains X, which we aren't changing. Which is better because - hey, wait! Where are you going? Why aren't you buying any of our stuff?
Gaming media: Guess you can't please spoiled whiners. Bioware gave those children exactly what they asked for. What more could they possibly want?

I see. There is no mistaking that. Well, Goodbye Bioware. I'll take my business elsewhere. Bioware obviously doesn't need dummies like me mucking up their artistic vision. I'm not interested in your free cutscenes. Frankly I hope you go out out of business for your steadily deteriorating product quality. The customer does not owe you the company anything especially not my good feelings or vibes. I will now specifically look for the lead writers on games I intend to buy and if Huson or Waters are anywhere near those products then I won't touch them.
DA2= Strike 1
ME3 = Strike 2
Not changing the endings= Strike 3.

Have fun holding the line but I think they have made their intentions clear.

In regards to the FAQ, I've got to reference one bit. "Are we proud of the game we made and the team that made it? Hell yes." I can perfectly agree with this. In my opinion, the TEAM did an excellent job on the game as a whole. The TEAM crafted a masterpiece.

However, the lead writer and executive producer is, in fact, NOT a team. The writing team did a great job over the rest of the game. But, correct me if I'm wrong, an executive producer is, in fact, not a writer, no? (Overall, guarantee there's a legitimate exception somewhere)

To put it in some MMO terms, for the ending for a series like Mass Effect to be written by two people, one of which is not typically a writer (presumably), seems like you're trying to two man a 10/25 man raid at level. It just doesn't work. This needs input from everyone involved.

Oh man, that's a tough one. Hahah.
I didn't live in the US when he was the president(well, at least not most of it), so I have rather...strong feelings towards his whole presidency.

Thank Bioware for the Free DLC.

Hold the Line: social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/355/index/11049551

Did we play the same game? Because The whole synthetics rising up against  organics was disproven once you made peace between the Geth and Quarians. They were just trying to protect their own existence and it's why they fought back. So once Sheaprd told them (Quarians) to realize their own mistake and that this war was their fault and they needed to end it, because the Geth were in fact not their enemy, did they stop and try to make this work. Sure t would take time but it was possible.

Even EDI in some way was becoming human like and was willing to lay down her life for those around her. She was understanding more and more that humans and synthesis can co exist without becoming one and taking away what made all of them unique.

Thats why to me Synthesis is one of the worst choices in the game. You made peace with the Geth and their creators got your AI self aware, who came to see here human comrades as friends and equals, willing to die for them and protect them, not because of programming or something of the sort, but because she wanted too. So why the need to merge the two when they are untitled as one already? Not to mention one man/ woman jumping into an energy beam order to rewrite a persons genes/ DNA is ludicrous.

Besides how the heck would a machine get human DNA into them? It's just a silly thought IMO, and exactly what the Reapers were doing when harvesting other life forms. It was never an option because I had already made organics and synthetics get along. Even if it didn't last the fact that we came this far says a lot.

As for the rest of the stuff you mentioned regarding pro Bioware endings and those who support them. You are welcome to enjoy whatever you want, but those who don't want to make their voice heard  dont need you mucking it up. You have/ had your victory so leave those who desire theirs alone, since it has nothing to do with you.

Everyone else here hold the line until tomorrow and keep being the good soldiers/ gamers/ generally awesome people you are.

/ Salutes

@DerrickLAFilm it is true that no one starves etc. All that is already implied in the current end. DLC will clarify.

Really? It was implied? I must be a ****ing idiot, cause I didn't get that implication, at all....

You know, I write short stories and researched essays about English language literature and movies for a living. I dredge up implications from so far down in the written or visual medium that even I am not entirely sure I'm not just making it up, and I can assure you that "no one starves" is not implied in the current endings. Sorry.

Unless they mean we're meant to think, "They wouldn't do an ending where everyone starves, I'm sure there'll be biblical manna for all." This, however, would be an optimistic assumption involving the equivalent of :wizard: space magic :wizard:, which means it's still not implied. I will, in the spirit of fairness, point out that I was only able to go through the horror of the ending once, and I picked ending C... I mean the red ending... I mean the destroy option, perhaps endings A or B imply that people don't starve. At least that would make them different.

I really hope Bioware manages to work some real life magic on these endings because that's what it's likely to take to "make them work"... and I hope that the epilogues will allow for more variety in outcomes including reunion with your crew/LI and all-out losing. Never underestimate the amount of change and variety you can put into epilogues, especially from such an unclear/vague/nonsensical starting point.

Like I said earlier, I'm waiting to see this DLC before I cry foul or cheer, but I'm not going to sit here and be told that they put in all this foreshadowing and these glorious implications that I'm just too blind/dumb/something to pick up on.

Frankly, if your implications and foreshadowing are so vague that people don't pick up on them at all, even if they're looking, you might as well not have bothered. The best implications, of course, are those you don't see "in your face" but feel, and even the felt implications are simply not there. I am sorry to the writer(s) who believed (s)he/they accomplished this, but it doesn't do any good to pretend or stick your head in the sand or blame it on the audience.

This is how people learn and become better writers: listen to what reaches the audience and what doesn't, own it when you didn't achieve what you were going for, talk to more experienced writers, read books by more experienced writers about writing or whatever else you believe can give you insight into where you went wrong and go do it better (otherwise known as practice, practice, practice). It's a cycle that continues on and on until the day you decide to stop writing for anyone other than yourself.

Holding the line until I see DLC that makes it work and gives more variation.
