The following is pure conjecture and speculation based off experience and previous behaviour by corporate entities.  None of it is should not be taken as accusation or fact unless evidence comes to light:

I just had a really scary epiphany... or maybe just temporary bout of insanity.

With the amount of PR control on all things Mass Effect EA wouldn't have accidentally released this ahead of time... which leaves me with the following possibility.

I'm sure Bioware's subsidiary agreement allows them narrative control over their products.  I also suspect EA probably has the right to remove executives of Bioware should they not meet performance targets.

What if EA told Bioware to give us what we wanted.. make this go away... and Bioware said "No" to EA... and so EA released this to throw Bioware off balance?

Would that make EA the good guys here?

... personally the previous could be completely off base and it might have just been an accidental release..  Having a release that early in the morning (8am EDT) is unusual.. especially one of this magnitude and more importantly I just don't see EA doing that with something this big.. there are top level management hovering over this.. it just seems really weird... EA's OBVIOUSLY distanced themselves from Bioware.  The Day 1 DLC issue they responded almost BEFORE Bioware... now they've been quiet, they accepted returns from Origin, heck we're all pretty sure they wrote off stock for Amazon.

Is Bioware now on EA's **** list? Image IPB

I don't think I've ever posted on these forums, despite having been a member for...well, a long time.

The dedication and effort that you guys and girls in this thread have put forth is absolutely amazing, and a bit shaming. I can't begin to express in mere words the admiration, respect, and thanks I have to you all for the information and support you've provided to so many people in the community. More than you probably even know, as I'm sure there were many out there like me who just lurked and read.

Just the presence of such a friendly and civil group on the internet is mind-boggling enough :) But the camaraderie displayed, and the welcoming arms surely lifted the weight from more than a few heavy hearts after the painful month we've all dealt with concerning ME3. Even though there were many of us who didn't post or comment, you should all know that your line was held by more than the vocal few. I never thought I'd ever be so upset at a game ending. I never thought I'd care about something that seems so mundane. And honestly, I can't remember the last time I was this upset about...well, anything really.

Thanks to your hard work (and those around the RTM movement in general), we at least got a response from them. Sadly, for me at least, that response was more than just a little disheartening. Not that it matters, I guess, but I'm one of those people who has played BioWare games since the very beginning. Shattered Steel, BG1 and 2, NWN...you name it; if BioWare created it, I at least tried it out.

And now? I don't know. I'm not going to claim that, "I'll never buy a BioWare game again!", although I really, really want to. For now, I think I'm done.

Thanks to all of you great folks in this forum. If you continue holding the line, know that there are people who continue to support you.

I'll support Retake till the day I die. Then come back as a ghost and haunt people Retake is fighting against.
However, BioWare can go and *beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep*......
Seriously, I'm going to start my own gaming company. Cause if people making these choices can make billions, then I should be able to make enough money to take over the world.

What saddens me the most about this is not that Bioware have decided that this is the way to go about this, it's not that at all. It's that Bioware don't realise that they're being played.

EA has a good hundred other companies like Bioware at its fingertips, they will deliberately attempt to oversize a product, then bleed it out for the money. This whole thing is most likely another EA move, not Bioware. It saddens me to say it, but Bioware are now EA's b**ch. They're pawns, they're being sent as cannon fodder because they've now served their purpose. The moment profit margins decline past the threshold, EA will simply toss them to one side, wash their hands, and repeat this with another poor game company who was foolish enough to sell themselves to EA. I have no doubt that this will result in severe backdraft on Biowares part, but EA is practically untouchable by this, they have a steady supply of cannon-fodder companies to take the fire while they rack up money. Many of Bioware's employees will likely see the brute force of the profit decrease and will lose their jobs, people like Jessica Merizan will be out of the business for sure, and in this climate, I'm sure that it will/would be the last we hear of her in the gaming industry, same for many of the employees, most will be mired by the recent issues and will struggle to find jobs in gaming industries because of that black mark on their CVs.

Don't get me wrong, a certain few employees can burn in hell and I wouldn't give a damn after all this, but some of them did a good job, but they've served their purpose with EA, and no doubt they'll be gone...

As crazy at that sounds, it's possible. EA could have given Bioware extraordinary liberties with it's projects seeing their success with Mass Effect. However, we also know that the higherups at Bioware stuck their fat little fingers into the ending and made the roses on the cake into fist sized splat marks. Red, Blue and Green splat marks.

This is very possible. Frightenly possible.

Thing is, if anyone were probably put out of work, without any real evidence pointing at them having a handle on the ending, which at this point I'd say it's safe to assume that was only Walters and Hudson that touched it, they'd probably be hired on almost instantly. Just because a company tanks doesn't mean all of its employees are automatically trash. In fact, I'm sure a lot of studios would appreciate the ability to hire a former BioWare employee, because let's face it, the track record is good with the exception of the contention over DA2 and this ending mess.

Thank you! And if you really want a bioware game in the future read player reviews and if you decide to buy it try to get it used from GS or a ftriend or from someone online so at least bioware and ea get nothing from your purchase

Guys, do we have any response yet? what is our move? are we just gonna give up? Im just curious. We can't just give up like this. Ofcourse we all wait on PAX, but still, has there been any news? ive been gone for a couple of hours so i could have missed it.

What can we possibly do? All our efforts so far have only gotten us is this non-statement from Bioware.

The only thing we can do - fight with wallets and dollars.   The time for words and complaints are done... Mass Effect 3 and the series can not be saved... the ending is set in stone now.   What we can do leave a message and mark  so deep in EA/Bioware's future profits that any who even thinks about pulling this kind of BS ... won't

We are all in this together no matter what the outcome. Glad we all remained true to ourselves in the best way possible. Whatever happens we did what we had to do and did it together.

Brothers and sisters in arms

Who make themselves heard
Who use humor and logic to disfuse bad situations
Who respect one another even if their views are different
Who welcome newcomers with open arms.
Who make this place bearable despite what we witnessed in our favorite franchise
Who are just awesome people who'd I like to meet with someday
Who don't back down, don't compromise who they are, and keep it civil.
And above all
Who hold the line

We aren't going anywhere, welcome aboard.

It's crazy to realize how in denial BW may be right now. You see all the announcements on Facebook or elsewhere? The comments? It's all about the bad endings. All the time. From hundreds of people or more.

It's not a vocal minority! That's insulting.

And to pretend that everything is OK, or that calling us stupid and "explaining" the endings is certainly not the best way to go. Not in an event called peace (pax)...

Well... there we have it:

http://www.joystiq.c...r-offers-furth/

In short: They'll stick to the the ending they "invisioned", and "just" expend it, and seriously... I'm fine with that... Sure, their "vision" will still leave a really fine trilogy with a lousy ending... but it wouldn't be the first.^^

Very good read. It sums up the whole "artistic integrity" very nicely. I wish Bioware would read it and realize how "clarification" isn't going to solve much.

"There are two main reasons why the appeal towards artistic integrity don’t hold much weight in relation to the ending of Mass Effect 3 (and thus the trilogy as a whole). The first, and perhaps most important reason is that it would appear artistic integrity has already been compromised even before the game was released. And here I’m not talking about the rumours that the original script was leaked online and the ending was quickly changed to account for this (as far as I can tell this is speculation and rumour unless somebody can confirm this for me).

No, what I’m talking about is how in the last ten to fifteen minutes of Mass Effect 3 the underlying appeal of the franchise – player choice and decision making affecting how narrative and outcomes develop – are for all intents and purposes jettisoned and what remains appear to be the mutant corpse of another game. The last stretch of the game transported me into a completely different gameplay experience, and it was so poorly done and unnatural (not to mention scrappy) that it felt like the heart and soul of the experience was ripped away from it."

I never purchased the "From Ashes" DLC.
I was going to if they fixed things and play through the entire game again.
But now I can safely say after they lied to everyone, and basically showed they could care less about the fans, I'm not buying anything else from Bioware. No DLC, no new games.

I'm done.

Not crazy at all. Look at the poll from the beginning. 40k+ people wanted a different ending.

BW says "we know many fans need more clarification and closure."

What we said was "The ending as it is doesn't make sense, both technically and artistically, it's just bad now."

So the denial has been going on for a while now.
