Good post. But several other companies are adding/altering their endings without trouble.

Bathesda and Projekt RED are two of the most recent. This is only BioWare pulling this "artistic integrity" crap.

I was going to buy DLCs and all over from Mass Effect 3. But now I will spend my money on Diablo 3, from Blizzard. The listen to us, make awesome games with awesome endings and even more! Diablo 3 will release fully in Brazilian portuguese as one of the languages. Dialogs and subtitles.

I honestly don't know how to feel. So many people are jumping to the most extreme conclusions, whilst I'm willing to give Bioware the befit of the doubt because we really have no clue what the extended cut will entail and they are giving it to us for free. However the "clarifying" statements and the fact the they will not be discussing it at PAX is making me extremely worried. I get it they are probably just playing it safe for now because everything they say is going to be looked at through a magnifying glass. But not saying anything is just going to throw more wood on the fire and make everyone more angry.

Why give them the benefit of the doubt? They've destroyed all credibility and trust that they once had.

You know something that Pro enders just don't get?

I had a great ****ing time playing ME 3. And I desperately want it to continue.

I want to buy DLC, I want to Retake Omega, I want to figure out who the traitor is who leaks Cerberus information, I want to explore an ancient but intact Prothean ruin.

And I wanted to give Bioware money for these things so that they could keep making great games.

But they don't seem to realize that I'm not lobbying for a new ending, because I just want a better ending (though I do) I want a better ending because without it there is NO reason for me to buy DLC at all.

I'm not lobbying because I hate Mass Effect or Bioware (although...) I'm doing it because I love them both.

I wonder if EA owns the Mass Effect IP... they should hire evil souless people and make a new ending to ME3 for us. Wouldn't THAT be a slap in the face for Bioware.

That's why I'm actually concerned with how staunch Bioware is about "maintaining our artistic vision". Because their artistic vision doesn't allow for any replay ability.

I know. That's why my rant was directed at Bioware/EA/anyone who defends their "artistic integrity" nonsense.

It's absolutely ridiculous. THE most closed-minded crap I've heard in a long time. "Here's an idea, let's sacrifice our business model and future success because we're proud, stubborn, arrogant, and stuck up!"

I am by NO means religious, nor am I trying to bring religion into this thread...

But there's a reason Pride is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Fine by me. I really don't care how the ending gets fixed at this point, just that it is. Consumer loyalty? All gone.

Hear, hear!!! That's something they are not understanding. We WANT to keep buying their games, but we are not feeling the same love right now. And as they don't have to remake their products, so I don't need to buy them.

You're joking, but... I haven't gamed at all since I finished ME3. And that was a month ago. I just have no desire to play games. I think the hobby might be done for me.

I might be crazy but... I'm playing ME3 right now. SP, from the start. It's ... okay. Not nearly as "yay" as before I became aware of the ending but - it's okay.

Good idea. I got all excited because they released it to Xbox 360 but only one male character and that made me sad :crying:

I think even Fable3 sounds like a better game than ME3 right now...at least my choices were taken into consideration. :?

*offers a hug*.  We're not going anywhere.  I'm not buying anything from EA until the DLC comes out and then I'm making a decision.   Hoping losing out on nearly $500 from just me for the next few months of releases/DLC (Kingdoms of Amalur DLC, ME3 DLC, SWTOR subscription, Sims3 DLC) will help contribute to this..

Thanks Computim. I just want to say that I more than resent that fact that BW slaps us with the label of "our most passionate fans" as if it were a bad thing. Actually having the quads to sneakily use the public misconceptions about the gaming community (people with no lives, sitting in a basement all day playing video games and eating candy bars) against us ("passionate" meaning a small percentage of obsessed fans).  No...that is not me, or any of you. Now if we don't accept this copout of a resolution poor BW will look like it is being abused and its precious "artistic integrity" is being compromised.

No, your "most passionate fans" are the ones who made your small fortunes, and apparently are the only ones who are trying to salvage any integrity this franchise has left,  while you pompously gallavant around as if you maintain some kind of otherworldly intelligence so far beyond the conception of THE MAJORITY of people who play the game. No one - not even DR. RAY (sorry, but PhDs are a dime a dozen these days) is more educated than most of the people on these boards, or any more worthy of mutual respect.

I have to go now. Or I will just continue to rage.

Holding the line.

Yeah... I don't see that happening. I can't even bring myself to play other games in other genres. Not even a sidescroller.

It legit takes a lot for me to genuinely hate something. Like as much as I hate the ending I still can't hate it to the point where I want to return my game. I'm so optimistic it is not even funny. But yeah I am still worried about this. And that is saying a lot for me.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I would rather Bioware give us something, some footage from what they're working on. It would be doubly awesome if it was just a few more seconds of the scene where Shepard takes a breath. I don't think any of the fan theories are discounted because nothing they said hints at all as to what they're actually doing. Not knowing hurts the most.

They said they are not changing or adding endings, only adding 'clarification' to what we got. As much as I'd like to see it be true, I think the IT and most others have gone up in smoke. Still going to wait and see how they do this since it's free anyway, but it looks like Bungie's going to be the only dev I actually trust pretty soon.

IT et. al. is clarification of the ending. The ending doesn't make sense (plot holes and all) and IT is a way to explain it.

Cautiously optimistic.

Your  joking.. Ha..

I have the Witcher  2, then Darksiders 2, and if can get my hands on 3DS  Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance  the bridge beween 2 and 3.  Man - I'm not looking back ..  AC  3 in October.

You know maybe instead of being depressed about this you said take this time to branch out. Bioware is not the only gaming Company out there that make a good story and something that is entertaining.  This is a lesson that Bioware is going to learn the hard way...  oh how humpty dumpty is going to fall.

I never finished Fable 2. The whole "everytime you die, you get a new scar" annoyed me. And then they got rid of that in Fable 3. And in Fable 3, even with all the annoying bugs, we still can get many endings. Better than the ending of ME3.

Wow. Never thought I would say that.

I remember I read in some interview with bioware team last year that they were intrestsed in exploring times of young Anderson and his fights with saren as well as humanity first contact.
now I'm beginning to see why.
Well bioware I never cared about Andesron and his times. Fund him bland and weak.
But if they think we buy anything fromcthem if we don't get what we want ...they are dreaming! !

This can be a crippling blow to this company.
they already were on thin line ....
Now thus "artistic integrity" bull**** will be their undoing.

I don't get it. Just make alternative ending. If you don't want it as Canon fine.but give us that optional n .
Such Arrogance.
lets see bioware where will you be next fee years aftervthis.

It's okay!  I said that earlier.. had this been a GM dealership they would have lost certification.. GM has a survey everytime you leave there as to whether or not you were "Completely Satisfied"... and they actually follow up (annoyingly at times) if you AREN'T just to make sure you are within reason... even if your service visit ends up being completely covered by warranty by the time you're done just to keep you happy.  It's to the point I almost feel bad pointing out stuff BECAUSE they go to so much trouble..

..and then there's Bioware.  *checks "No" to the "Were you completely satisfied?" questionaire*, is prompty bombarded by 75 articles by renowned game reviewers telling him how he was wrong and giving it a perfect score despite not even being the full version of the game they reviewed.

Asked if I would like to leave a comment.  Click Yes, fill out comment, am promptly thanked for my feedback and told "We're listening".

Problem never actually dealt with, but provided with a phamplet explaining why I should have been completely satisfied due to the elite team that dealt with my product and that they're proud of themselves.

Pointed out arrogance of statement, promptly told I'm acting entitled and whining.

-----------------------------

GM, could you send someone over Bioware's way to explain Customer Service to them please?  Thanks.

F3 comes with 3 endings. However those endings are far different to each other...unlike a certain BioWare game that just gives you different colors.
