The Witcher 2 is an awesome game. Though to be honest that game's ending is "meh" as well. But CD Projeckt is a great company, they listen to the fans, go back and fix problems, add dlc for free, hell, they gave the enhanced edition of the Witcher for free to current owners, and they're doing the same with Witcher 2.

And Witcher 2's decisions are pretty large, You have to play it multiple times to get all the different paths.

besides the graphics though, I actually prefered the first game.

Didn't they change the ending with the enhanced edition though?

Also I am looking forward to The Witcher 2, though not as enthusiastically as I would normally be.

Well played Bioware. So they offer some cinematic expansions to the same three endings that fundamentally cannot solve the problems (since said problems are intrinsic to the entire ending sequence and its premise), but they offer it for free so that anybody voicing dissatisfaction gets hit with the whiney label. The Retake movement then splits into two squabbling factions; those who feel Bioware will pull something awesome out and those who feel they're just polishing a turd. In the end, Bioware gets to do the absolute minimum to address massive fan dissatisfaction, least of all produce anything near what was promised even just a few weeks before launch.

Maybe they think they dodged a bullet but that would be missing a fundamental point of this whole debate. Truth is, the Retake movement is just as much for Bioware's sake as our own. The last thing Bioware wants is massive quiet customer loss. Retake was about giving Bioware a do over, so to speak. You don't see fans protesting crappy endings on games that are terrible from the start like say bad movie tie in games. The reason players collectively lost their minds over this was because we overall cared so much about the series and didn't want to give up on Bioware. To see the movement as an adversary to be fought is a mistake. They may have indeed "won" the fight with this clever dlc fake olive branch, but in the end they're going to leave alot of customers with a sour taste in their mouths.

Funny thing is, if they don't come out with something really good, Retake will reunite and make BioWare dread the day they thought to mess with us.

Give Bioware a chance to present the Epilogue at least.  Here's a prototype as to what you might expect.  Just pretend there are cinematics (Bioware said additional cinematics would be coming).

Although its Fan Made, its VERY well done and detailed.  It keeps the Star Child canon, but it does provide a LOT of closure.

Give the creator some Feedback if ya can.  Some great work went into this.

I almost cried reading through my generated ending.  THAT is how my game should have ended.  Tragic and brutal, but enough happiness to know all that sacrifice was completely worth it.  The note from Fenron to Liara (which only makes sense if you played LoTSB, which I did) was a nice touch.

I happened to be listening to Within Temptation at the time I was reading through this, and it was kind of fitting given my femshep romanced Liara.

Lost, by Within Temptation

Thank you!

@ MetalCargo If you're still on you haven't answered my question yet.

My first playthrough I was purposefully trying to lose the war and let the Reapers win. I still won because of starchild and those stupid choices. How is expanding and clarifying those choices a win for me? I wanted to feel all the emotions losing the war and seeing everyone die would have pulled out of me. Even with this DLC that won't be an option. So tell me, how is this DLC a good thing for someone in my situation?

*hugs* Yeah I am feeling a bit better, you were right sleep did help...though I had a really weird dream.
You shouldn't worry about me, I will be fine as always....just takes time to get over this crap.

Oh what was the dream? I've been having ones where Shep and Liara are somehow in the Dragon Age setting... Shep is like a Warrior Theif while Liara is just a straight up mage... But she uses Biotics instead of magic...
I should be going to sleep soon, since I'm super tired... and I've got some shoping to do before 1pm... >.< I'm not sure if I'll watch the stuff for PAX, if there is a Live Stream...

Evidence ^^^

And don't think I'm not considering your opinions.  I for one am hesitant about the DLC, but still glad about the announcementm much like the author of the article.  I read the report on Forbes saying that the fan reaction is negative and that we are losing war assets.  I came here to try and convince some people and warn others.  And you spit at me in the process.  Sweet.  Whatever.  I have thick skin.  Although my tear ducts are getting a little worked up.

Oh yeah, and the Retake movement is slightly more diverse than I think you think it is.  Just some food for thought.

Maybe not: http://www.holdtheli...d-cut-dlc.563/  ;)

You did what BW wanted you to. You took the bait. If you ever fought the same fight we did, you confused it and now think this dlc is enough.

I'll try to explain the metaphors I used before. And I don't do this in a bad way. It's just to be clear about it.

If I go to a restaurant and order steak, and the guy serves me a salad, I don't care if he says: "OK, let me explain why this is so good. My grandma grew those grapes, and took her a whole year to dry them in these delicious raisins. And there is the spinach, that I brought from another country, and I'm not making any money on those, because they are so much special, and takes so much time to clean. So, you should eat that salad now that I explained the pains I went to produce it, and how delicious it is".

It doesn't matter! I ordered steak!!!

So, we wanted new endings. No explanation, no closure, no nice heart-warming moment will make up for what we got in the first place. Unless they change it. And they are not doing it. Whatever they do, and it's not changing it, doesn't matter.

I do hope you understand...

Already played it, got the "Digital Premium" version from Steam. Great game as is and I love it...Spent as many hours playing it through as ME1&2 together. Just because they spend so much time making each game so intricate and detailed, little things connecting to little things...Like all the choices and effects from all the ME series in one game (at least to me, it seemed that way).

I loved it. And even though the end was a cliff-hanger (for obvious reasons, the series isnt over yet), the ending is by far better than ME3s. And it doesnt get all twisty and plot-holed at the end.

Also, more "adult" content...whats not to love about that? ;)

I used to want to work for BioWare as a game designer...
Mass Effect used to be my favorite Sci Fi thing, even above Star Wars...
Should this DLC fall flat like I think it will ( you cant fix BS Image IPB with more BS Image IPB and by basically caling you fanbase dumb ) then DA 3 WILL fail. No one will trust BioWare anymore and EA will shut them down.

It was fun while it lasted (and I used to HATE this song) but so long BioWare Image IPB

We'll be singing this song as we send your soul to the gaming heavens on your funeral pyre made up of our copies of Mass Effect 3.

I will Hold The Line till I actually see the DLC but my hopes are not at all high.

Shepard was alive and on the mad jungle Planet talking with Joker...and I think (don't remember clearly) they were talking about not seeing each other again, and Joker told Shepard she should talk to the crew and let them know they wont see each other again....or something...like I said I don't remember it clearly.

I don't think I will watch anything to do with PAX I will just lurk here I think.
Not sure how much more of this I can take though.

Yeah they added either some more scenes, or added alternative endings, I am not sure which. It was kind of abrupt, the original ending, it will be interesting to see how they changed it. I haven't played Witcher 2 in a while.

The only thing that bugged me about it is that it's so clearly meant to be played with an Xbox controller. It was a PC exlusive at the time I bought it, but it felt more like a 360 port. The interface and HUD were for consoles, the controls worked better with a joypad, it was obviously made with the 360 in mind.

And though the ending was short, at least it stayed true to the rest of the game. There wasn't some Harpie that flies in out of nowhere and tells Geralt that he is the chosen one that must bring the Non-Humans and Humans together only after sacrificing himself.

Have a feeling BioWare's whole point was to make their fans as depressed as possible....

OH SORRY got a little sidetracked.  I would compare the "bad" ending to the "bad" ending in ME2.  If you sucked at ME 2 you can still beat the game, only everyone, including Shepard, dies.  This is the same thing.  I agree though, that it sucks that the endings couldn't be MORE wildly divergent than ME 2 (especially since they said they were unrestriced and could be creative about it) but ultimately, I can't complain by saying it's WORSE than ME 2 since it's the same.  I can and do say that we should get wildly divergent endings, but I'm pretty sure the "artistic integrity" stuff to defend it is a smokescreen.  They want to use this ending as a spring board into another series, and that's why they won't give it up.  That's my theory anyway.

Don't let it get to you mate.
I have stopped playing all (and I have all of them) BioWare games. But thats the only effect it has had on me.

Find another game/series and/or gaming developer to put your hopes into. Just pop in here every so often to let your voice be heard :P

BioWare has proven they aren't worth it. They aren't worth the issues a lot of you guys'n'gals put yourselves through.
Enjoy yourselves a bit more :)

Bioware have officially embraced the star child's logic with the new DLC ending content.

So Bioware create an ending that depresses us and that we want to change.

So in order to prevent this they create an ending which protects us from the original ending by making more of the same ending.

STAR CHILD BS!!!

I'll try not to, but I made a post about my obsessive worrying already. I worry about everything, from "oh no I forgot to put the tumble dryer on" - "oh f**k my house is on fire" It's just the way I have always been.

My favourite game series has been soiled by the fact that it's also by BioWare (Dragon Age). But I am most definitely never buying another BioWare product. They do not deserve my money, or my time.

Nyasia: I think you should go for The Witcher 2 - - and I'm on xbox so we should exchande gamer tags. Anyway, it's a really dark series with what I understand to be very dark endings. But that's ok bc they will lead you there all along, right? :-)

You forgot to mention that they don't deserve your trust, your loyalty, your dedication, and a few other things. As someone posted a few pages back, the way Bioware is acting is the worst possible customer's service ever in the history of the game industry. As bad as SOE did with Star Wars Galaxies. They only see the bucks, not the people.

So let's not longer givem them our money. If they want to be treated with respect, let them start treating us the same way.
