Give me a break, that's not even close to what we want.
SpaceBrat still needs to leave to fix the narrative coherence, and all the unbelievable plotholes.

And besides, even if he doesn't leave, we still have :
A) Screw everyone
B) Screw everyone
C) Screw everyone
Only with extended cutscenes to exactly show how much everybody is screwed. Great.

(BTW, prior to release they said that we would not have an A/B/C choice in the end at all..)

(they could have at least added "D) Only kill the Reapers". The point of the whole series... You know "drive them back to dark space!" and all that stuff back from ME 1...)

Assuming that bioware still won't be discussing the ending in detail at pax, its probably for the best, whatever they are planning would still only be outlined, and unless they completely describe everything that could possibly happen in the dlc, or read from some theoretical script or notes, and make some more promises that don't come to fruition (especially as this is another fan grievance), they can't really do much.

Most people would prefer the crtl-a-delete method for fixing the endings, but it was very unlikely that was going to happen, if whatever they make can give the potential of a more positive ending, then I am sure it will make most people happy. Will people be more likely to overlook plotholes or weirdness like the godchild if the outcome is OK? its hard to to tell, lets hope they can give us a trailer at some point, (a trailer would be good because then what they made would at least be long enough to cut to trailer length!)

I haven't posted on here since the news came out, was too disheartened to do so. Went out and ranted about it somewhere else. To put it short, I couldn't be more angry with the lazy DLC that they're going to try to get by with.

Listening to our feedback, my ass. I'm so done with Bioware. They won't be getting another dollar from me. I refuse to believe they so heavily missed the mark unintentionally. They simply never cared in the first place. That much is obvious.

Still... Very upset.

Can't be that Surprised at EA... I mean its EA.

You knew this day was coming since the moment Bioware sold itself to EA. I said it back when ME2 came out. Was just a matter of time.

Whether people hate it or love it. Mass Effect could have been along the games that redifined gaming itself.
Halo
Gears
MW (for good.. and mostly bad)

Mass effect will pass on to the bin of... great games but remembered for the poop of a job they did rapping it up.

I am quite happy to admit I am complaining. I am just so sick of all this crap, all I really have left for this issue is complaints and depression.

Ok, we have to clarify some terminology here, so class, listen and later we'll have a poll, and if you all work hard, we might go home early, ok?

1. Complain = to voice negative opinions in general, kinsword to sarcasm and 'b.tching and moaning'
2. Complain = to say that something is wrong or not satisfactory
3. Complain = to tell someone formally that something is wrong, and in our case, wish to change/fix the product

OK, so in which of these three activities do you feel you are taking part of at the moment?
I'm doing 1. until someone tells me in no uncertain terms what the DLC will include.

Also, I would argue that makers of mass effect 3, or any video game, doesn't get to call itself art right out. Does anyone get to create anything and call it art? Is any movie/book/etc produced automatically art? I know this isn't a topic of heavy interest to thisforum (bc I've brought it up several times w no takers) but it *really* bothers me that people get to proclaim their own stuff "art."

To themselves, anything you make is art. My Level 3 Applied Science coursework is art to me. From car designers to serial killers, in their eyes what they make is art. The difference with the millions of other people claiming their work is art is that they do not use it as a defense against criticism. The serial killer doesn't try to get out of what he's done by saying he needed to maintain "artistic integrity", and if he did attempt it he would be shot down anyway. The same applies for the car designer, the student and his coursework, the canvas painter, and the rest of them.

In an artist's perspective it is art, but from a passerby perspective, it isn't art until they accept it as art. We have denied the endings as "art", and as such, artistic integrity holds no strength in its use, what it actually says is "It's actually so crap that we can't think of a proper reason to maintain our position in the argument" and as such, means that they are essentially admitting their own work is terrible, yet refusing to fix it. The canvas painter doesn't sell his canvases if no-one likes them, neither does the car designer. EAware needs to realise that in this line of business, as with all businesses, the franchise must bend within reason around the desires of the fanbase. If you stray too far, then no-one will want it and the company loses. What's worse is that they lied about the actual game itself, claiming things would happen which clearly didn't, as an attempt to reel in fans. If they'd have clearly explained what was going to happen, a lot less people would have bought the game, so they've not said it, and instead of going Aes-Sedai on the matter and simply skipping over the parts which they don't want us to know until we buy it, they simply lie outright. Now I, and many others are in the "boy who cried wolf" area, ignoring any information given until we know for certain that it is true. This will hurt both EA and Bioware in the future, and most likely we won't ever see them selling a "most anticipated game" outright in the future.

All of the above

This
http://blog.bioware....3-extended-cut/  doesn't leave any room for "well maybe it will be good" though. This pretty much says that they are explaining the ending to us "morons" and that is that. Cinematics is not enough to fix this ending, we need whole new endings that take our choices into account and don't screw the entire galaxy over.

As do I, but no scientific study like an obvious one, eh? My favourite must be one stating something like 'normal weight women have no need to lose weight'. If that conclusion is not money well spent, I don't know what is :P

I respectfully disagree, even without alcohol, I feel the wording of the FAQ is ambiguous enough to make a good/satisfactory DLC possible. Probable? I don't know, but possible, so I'll wait and give Bioware one more chance to get it right.

we have not gotten what we want, there just giving us cinimatics.

we asked for the missing endings to be put back in, we were told BY THE CO-FOUNDERS in interviews that there would be 16 diffrent endings, instead we got 1 ending in 3 diffrent colours

the diffrent between cinimatics and actual dlc is that cinimatics does not have any gameplay nor any choices, this is why its free

DLC
is gameplay where we can make our own choices we can tell the starbrat to pissoff, there are so many valid arguments that support us and they far outweigh the bull**** "artist integrity".

they put this stuff out to say "yes we caved in" when in fact they havent, there passing out cinimatic content which was cut from the game hence "the extended cut" of the game

extended means cut content readded, they need to readd in all the missing missions and we all know shepard lives as we found out by the files in the pc version.
dont beleve me then look at the screenshots in this thread, there named the following

End03_Shepard_Alive_Fem.bik
End03_Shepard_Alive_Male.bik

thats the 5 seconds scene and it is in london so yeah shepard is alive and bioware knows that we know and there ignoring us and fobbing us off with this garbage cinimatic DLC crap

Whoa, hold your horses.

The FAQ said the DLC would be cinematics and epilogue content. Why make the destinction if they were just adding explanatory cinematics in the first place?

I think it is still possible that we might get something like an in-game cutscene etc. etc.
Or even some additional dialogue with the crew in case we survived.

Just because the actors haven't been called in for additional dialogue doesn't mean they won't be.

Right now, it's a case of hurry up and wait. Bioware announced something and they're annoyingly vague about what exactly that will be.

I agree a 100%  that not adding more ending-variants is a bad thing and that Artistic Integrity should not be used to argue for a case like this. (As a sidenote, I also believe Videogames can be a form of art, no question, but the facts are a little different here.)
What angered me the most is this move away from the ME core-themes, choice, free will and stopping the reapers.

Now, do we still have the right to complain? Well, we shouldn't go and judge Bioware's announcement before we actually have the extended cut. That's getting ahead of yourself.

But we definitely have the ability and the right to warn Bioware of what does and doesn't work. And in my opinion, that's a sort of angry constructive criticism.

So, don't rush ahead and bash the DLC before it is out, but hold the line and remind them why the ending right now is simply bad, even from an artistic point of view and show them what needs to be fixed.

What they do with that information in the end, is up to BW. And they will live with the consequences.
I for one am gonna holdy my ground (metaphorically speaking) until we know what this extended cut is.

After all, it is free! That's rather decent.

to the people that say were still ****ing about the DLC.

heres the run down of what we did want

1)- reinstatment of the missing missions
2)- reinstatment of the missing endings (not the same ending in 16 diffrent colours)
3)- aknowlegment that shepard is alive (we know this thanks to pc filenames)
4)- reinstatment of our choices (choices matter oh hell yes)
5)- aknowlagement that Bioware AND EA screwed up

now remember the cupcakes we all sent them, well we only had 3 choices as did bioware and out of the blue bioware picked a FORTH choice, yup they picked one that was NOT on the list, its THAT choice that we want, we want the ability to save our shep and save the galaxy.

we want to be able to settle down with our love intrest, be it with tali on her homeworld in the house she always wanted.
or
with liara and have the little blue babies
or
with garrus and have chafing problems but still have fun
or
with kaiden / ashley and settle down
or (if it was possible)
settle down with wrex and help him rebuild his homeworld.

you see bioware has those choices where as we get stuck with a 3 coloured explosion that wipes out everything no matter which one we pick

remember exploding mass relays wipes out entire solar systems, so all those relays exploding means .... oh yeah we did the reapers job for them, wiped out ALL advanced races and there solar systems and maybe wiped out evolvin raves that havent even came out of the caves yet.

so in short, kill everything everywhere
or
turn off the console and walk away.

you see this ending we have right now KILL's the replay value of EVERYGAME we all have now, i havent felt the urge to play GTA, saints row 3, driver san fran, red dead redemption.

ME3's endings have not onl;y affected biowares games but its also affected replaying of any game.

the whole point of having a great ending to a game is the replay value, endings on some of the games i named have decent enough ending but it gives you a sense to replay them.

mass effect 2 ending wanted me to replay it straight away and improve it, ME3 ending made me want to go out and punch a puppy because it was that frustrating.

so yeah we DID NOT get what we wanted.
we got what bioware wanted, they DID NOT listen to us in any way, if they did then they would know what we wanted and would have acted accordingly

If Jack is dead, shes on the memorial board. "Jack" doesnt appear but " Jacqueline " does. So im assuming her first name is the latter

I know but I thought Liara says during the Grissom Academy mission that her name is Jennifer and offers to find out her last name.... but I could be wrong *shrugs*

Hmm wouldn't make any sense, since the Files on her in the Shadow Broker base say her name is "Jacqueline".

and how would you motivate yourself to do multiple replays/buy dlc when you know you have to become a war crimenal to finish no mater what you choose?

Yes lets all get excited that we are being given "FREE" turd polisher WOOHOO!, I am so happy, this clarifying and explaining thing is so totally going to work because we are all completely stupid and just don't understand "artistic vision" who cares that they false advertised the product we got? we are getting FREE DLC to explain it to us! yay.

*cough* okay sorry that may have been harsh, I am just so sick of people going "Oh it's free that's so nice of them, even though they have obviously completely ignored all fan feedback"

Right I am going to sign off for a while and take a break I am obviously too angry or upset to understand....

PeaceOut!
