Im back, got time to cool off, and when i actually think about it, even though PAX was a bit of a letdown, what they promise is something they didnt have to do, we did make a difference, we were heard, maybe not like we would want with different endings, and i will be dissapointed for that, but listening to them at PAX does show they want to keep us as fans and are trying, in their own way, to keep us around.

I guess they can only do so much. And actually hearing them talk in person made me realize that they do care about this, but their hands are tied as well. If they are taking until summer to do this, I feel like they are actually putting a lot of effort into it (more than I thought they would, at least)

Just gotta make sure they get stuff right ^_^

Indeed.  6 months of dev time is crazy.. especially for a FREE DLC.  We could be talking into the $10,000,000 after staff costs ($5m), utilities, equipment...etc get added in..  It shows that they DO care and that we're a lot bigger than everyone said Image IPB

God, your posts are so optimistic... I just can't get my hopes up for some reason. The devs have screwed me so much over the course of years that I've lost the ability to trust a single word they say. I'm hoping you're right, but my emprical experience disallows me to believe that.

Unless they're doing the bare minimum and just Taking 6 months to make it seem like they put their time and effort into this when they've just hashed together some piece of crap.

Sorry to everyone but my inner pesimist has come out in force today. I think I'm gonna go for a walk to calm down or something because the more I think about it the more angry I get with how unbelievably bad this whole thing is

Unlikely.. they're not releasing any paid DLC before extended cut.. no one would buy it.. they're working full bore based on what we're told.. 6 months is about what I figured it would take (pretty sure I said it a few dozen pages back lol) to finish a proper ending with cutscenes tying everything up...

I may not be pessimistic here, but that doesn't mean I'm buying anything until the DLC comes out.  I do think they finally see where we're coming from, see our concerns, and see how to fix them.. they used a LOT of the words I was looking to hear today.

I'm not optimistic; I'm just giving them a chance. We have come this far and they are addressing the problem, one way or another. We are not being ignored, and even though it might not be the best solution ever, it is something. It is more than we've had so far.

They haven't made anything yet, nothing is concrete, and our opinions might be taken into consideration. I highly doubt they want a Retake ME3 Movement Part 2.

They are exhausted as much as we are, because they can't say or do anything without being reminded by someone about how the ending sucks (good job, guys ;))

Thank you!! :o

EDIT: I think we did shook their little perfect world a bit. More than when DA2 was released. I really hope they learn from ME3 ending and DA2 problems

This PAX ending DLC www.youtube.com/watch commentary makes me cautiously hopeful.

I know it means we won't get different endings, but the cry of Retake has always been for better endings.

And there is a chance that the extended endings will make the current ones better form an emotional standpoint. I've seen some folks say that if you pour sugar on top of a pile of crap, it's still crap. Which is true, but I have to be honest with myself.

If the endings hadn't made me feel so awful emotionally, would I really have cared so much why the Starchild's logic sucked, or why I had to pick a color, or why the Normandy was running away?

I don't really know the answer to that. When I finished the game, I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach, but mostly because I wanted to know what happened to the characters I loved so much. I didn't realize the full extent of the plot holes until I came here and read the dozens of posts and watched the myriad of online videos explaining things in minute detail.

So I'm going to try and keep an open mind about the extended content. And then after I've seen it, ask myself another question.  If that content had been in place to begin with, would I still have joined the Retake movement? And if the honest answer is no, then I'll be able to accept it.

I agree, and i believe Bioware understands this, they will most likely at least try to come up with something good, why else put all this effort into free DLC if they are not expecting to get rewarded for it afterwards with paid DLC? I understand you guys are upset, but just let this sink in for a moment, it may not be what we wanted as in changing the endings, and believe me i still cant swallow that at times. But acknowledge the things they actually ARE doing please...

"As for player decisions -something lacking in Bioware games since Dragon Age 2 that I’ve personally been lamenting about endlessly- Laidlaw stated that they will be concentrating more on both Character and player agency. An idea that the character has definitive effects on the world surrounding him, and the player can have direct control over the gameplay experience. Again, it surprises me that Bioware is finally coming to this conclusion 3 games into, and 2 games into, their primary franchises which have purported to do that exact thing, but it does also seem that Bioware is beginning to realize that they have strayed off the path in recent years and may be looking to get back on it. And as much as people have cried foul over the fan reaction to both Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, I would say that it’s starting to have a positive effect.

we shall see

Well in my world the procedure for getting new software is:

  • Someone asks if they can have something made that 'automates' or allows them to do something.

  • Management takes said idea, crafts it into "Probletunities" ie: Problems that become opportunities.

  • Management comes to IT (me) and asks for technical feasibility and eta on new software that has no detail about what the original person wanted in it.

  • I, knowing enough based off what they did tell me, then go to the original person and ask them what they need in the product, and then go back and build management the product and pitch it with "It also does this and this" (the original person's requests)... Management loves the extra feature capabilities that they forgot entirely about and heaps praise on me for having the foresight to add in features not asked for (I'm so awesome).
Take this to Bioware:
  • We tell bioware's managers that we hate their ending.

  • Bioware's managers go "But the critics loved it.. all 75 of them"

  • We boycott them.. Managers go "Oh crap.. tell IT to fix it.." then go tell IT their new probletunity (see where this is going?)

  • We're getting more and more upset that IT keeps giving us nothing of what we asked for... .well now IT (the producers and designers) have a direct link to us.. so they know exactly what we want, and, it seems, they actually agree with us on a lot of it.
Hence joy Image IPB

I am willing to accept this extended ending only if it fills in the plot holes about why starchild cant use citadel relay in ME1, why joker was running and if it gives us lots more closure about what just happened.

It still doesn't address the fact that everyone will still starve at Earth, but I just need something to show that Bioware still cares about it's fans and that this was just one big mistake, not a quick way to finish the series on a whim by EA.

I'm back ..managed to cool off from that conference ...
Played a bit of hydro thunder and I'm OK.
right ...it was a fiasco with regards toothed questions but
I should have expected it.
The good thing is they are doing something to appease us and rectify this mistake.
so in a way its a victory today as they looked under pressure.
They will work 6 or more months to create something good.will give them a benefit of a doubt till dlc will come.
But we are still holding the line.
we are still campaigning ....we write letters with ideas etc ...
Ans demand alternate endings ....which this series deserves.
So guys we need to be in force now more than ever! !!
Everyone here stays here .....
No going off or abandoning the cause.
let's see it through to the end! !!

Well, at least somone tweeted that no one will starve to death, but thats just for starters. Everyone should think  of the angry joe show top ten reasons the endings are hated and in theory (considering what we know about what the dlc will do now) the best case scenario is that 7 or 8/10 of these reasons could potentialy be removed, will that be enough?

I'll wait and see until the dlc is released but i have a feeling that what we're unhappy about won't get changed and only "expanded upon" as they say.
