Also, side note. Why do people believe all we do is post here? Multitasking is something many do.

and that is a question that we will never know the answer to

Two 23 inch monitors, one ipad, three laptops, I'm covered.

Geeze. When you hold your wallet you must have to use both bands. lol

Is that your wallet or your gym bag??

I'm able to save up relatively easily because I have the patience to wait, if it's not life and death like food and meds, then it's luxury as far as I'm concerned, I got my iPad cheap for the same reason I got the laptops cheap, either second user or sale.

What constitutes false advertising would be defined by the presiding government in which the claim was made - a claim of false advertising made by an American may not pass legal muster anywhere else in the world.

Now where was that dead horse again?

I misinterpret nothing. Bioware is crucial to EA's success because they have expanded the company to the point where it's to big to fail.

Corporations are people too.

Let's be honest, you're emotional right now and you feel like Bioware has done some great wrong to you...

When it comes down to it though, you'll be first in line to pick up the next big AAA titles from Bioware, why?

Simple. Your game registration history proves it. If that's not enough of a reason, I will also mention that the style of game you enjoy is simply produced by only a few developers. So let's stop with "you'll hear my roar with my pocket book" routine. It's silly. Your financial decision has zero impact on the company.

Bioware is too-big-to-fail.

On a side note, if you're looking for some encouraging words from me, I will say that you have accomplished all that you possibly could relating to issues that concern your "movement".

You were able to convince Bioware to put some additional dev time into the endgame of Mass Effect 3. This means they will probably take scrapped ideas that they would have liked to include originally but lacked the timeframe to get it done. You have now allowed them that time.

PR and messaging wise it's a brilliant move by Bioware. As soon as the public hears your dismay over "Free DLC", one word will come everyones mind, entitlement.

Why do you think everyone laughs at the Tea Party now? Originally everyone was for the movement until they read the details of the groups actual morals, values, and goals. Look how laughable they have become....

Until then, you will continue to savage the last 15 minutes of the game until you become so cynical that no matter what the Dev team does you'll always be unhappy.

Understand that. I have and will continue to enjoy this series for what it was, it have not taken over my life....

Everything I say is fact. I'm just being honest. Good discussion.

Wow, you got my entire game catalogue from BioWare's site? I din't know they were that invasive.

Game catalogue: every BioWare game from KotOR, Skyrim, Frozen Synaspe, Minecraft, HL series and spinoffs, L4D, Saint's Row the Third, CoD, Alice: Madness Returns, Halo, Brutal Legends, Star Wars: Jedi Knight 1 & 2, Shogun: Total War, Star Wars: Empire at War, Amnesia: Justine, BioShock, Assassin's Creed series, and Dead Space (and that's not even all of them, just the cases I can read from here).

As you can see, my game catalogue spans RPGs, RTSs, Platforms, FPSs, Survival Horrors, and Sandboxes. I enjoy many styles of games from a variety of sources, not all of them being big companies or BioWare. I can ignore their next game if I want to because I have a large pool of game styles and companies I can and will buy from.

As for your encouraging words: thank you. It is good to have a progressive and encouraging discussion with someone, especially if they disagree with you. However, I don't think we've done everything we can. My first playthrough of ME3 I was purposefully trying to fail and let the Reapers win. Why? Because Mike Gamble said it was an option and looking back at Bioware's previous track record of getting me emotional from games, I figured such an ending would be very dramatic and emotional. Yet Shepard still beat the Reapers in every end. My character won, while I, as a player, lost. If Bioware would stop with this "no new endings" thing and add that ending - just that ending - to the Extended Cut DLC and made it as emotional as they are no doubt making the current ones, I would forgive them for almost everything they've done recently.

as for savaging the last fifteen minutes until I hate everything the devs say; did you not read my last post? I was optimistic about the new DLC this summer because of what Patrick Weekes said at PAX. I am also replaying the whole series right now and enjoying every minute of it, so you can't say I hate the series now too because of the end or whatnot; just thought I'd stop that possible train of thought before it left the station.

In the example you presented, it wouldn't unless the Canadian company was bringing their product to market in the United States. It would be the an American making a claim of false advertising to the Federal Trade Comission. From there, it would get investigated and, if deemed worthy of action, the FTC would contact the Canadian company for resolution. If the matter were serious enough, it would probably wind up before the WTO (assuming all the countries involved are constituent members) where legal jurisidiction would be determined in which country's courts suit can be filed.

Meh - my MBA didn't prepare me for this! :(

It's really sad, in a big way, that some people don't realize that this was a bigger battle than just ME3's ending.

See, somewhere along the way someone got the notion to call a consumer product 'art'. They did this so that they could put shoddy, incomplete, or both, products on the market and defend them by saying 'it's art, and you can't change art.'. This consumed product is, well, video games. Back when they first came out on a large scale, video games were never released without being complete. Bugs were worked out through extensive testing to create a complete, working product. Some, of course, were better than others in this regard.

Eventually, as time wore on, games became more complex, more graphically intense...soon you could weave a real story into them through cutscenes rather than just a background story in a manual. Cutscenes started to get more and more cinematic as game machines became more and more powerful.

All this while, games were still treated as a commercial product; you made them appealing, you made them as good and as unique as you could, and you sold them en masse.

But then...developers started getting lazy. Why try to perfect something before release when you could patch it later? This attitude lead to shorter development periods...increasingly shorter. It got so bad that some games that came out needed day 1 patching to even work. Luckily, someone had the brains to go 'enough is enough'. Games had to be fully functional before release, that became the standard.

And game complexity grew, the voice acting improved, the visuals improved, and the development times shortened evermore.

They had to be mass produced, they had to be on the market more quickly to keep profits up, to keep investors happy. And the quality started to suffer...games started to essentially be clones of one another, started becoming incomplete...or long standing serieses of games started to be altered in ways that were bad...C&C being one of them.

This caused resentment to build amongst gamers ever further...but, nothing was ever really organized. Over the last decade or two, corportions have systematically beat it into the skulls of society that we can't change anything they do, or question their products, because we need them more than they need us.

Finally, with this game, things overflowed. Years of having inferior, incomplete products being driven down our throats, of being forced to pay for little extras that used to be free and part for parcel with a game...

Personally, I believe it was the lies that broke the camels back, that unleashed the deluge. I don't need to go into detail about what those lies were, they're easily found elsewhere in this thread.

The backlash came; the ending was not nearly what was promised, it flew in the face of everything that had been promised. The product was defective...but because we loved Bioware, instead of demanding our money back, we asked them to deliver what was promised.

Then, suddenly, we were entitled. We had no right to question 'art'. Up until this point, the 'art' defense had never been used...this was being used to deny accountability for an incomplete product. Suddenly, all this corporate brainwashing kicked in, and the rights of consumers went right out the window.

This battle was a way to fight back against the current corporate dogma, to show that customers still had power...because in the end, these companies exist because of our money. They exist because of us, the consumer, and can't exist without us.

Video games will always be a consumer product. They are mass produced, and have to be purchased en-mass to succeed. All this 'art' argument has done is given the corporations more leeway than ever to deliver shoddy and incomplete products, and worse, lie to the consumers and then shout 'artistic integrity' when someone tries to hold them accountable.

That is the precedent that has been set, that's what this was, directly for some and indirectly for others, a battle against. So for those of you who liked the ending and mock us...good for you.

Just remember this when you get more day 1 DLC with things that used to come as part of the parcel normally, and get incomplete games with shouts of 'it's art' in the future.

Wow you certainly showed me.

I mean yeah, you didn't argue any against any of my points.

As for maturity. . . .

Didn't you form a thread called the winds of change, and start talking about how Retakers were going to start leaving and Pro enders would 'rule the forums'.

Just like the other groups on I listed (no comment for PETA or OWS?) Retake was formed around a purpose and a broad set of ideas.  Most groups like these don't have a leader or a set ideology.

That said, most Retakers I've spoken with don't plan come into your home and force you to download new endings at gunpoint.

Just like most Tea Party members I know don't live it shacks stoking their guns all day and reading the bible.  They're just people who want something (mostly lower taxes) and realize their best chance of getting it is to band together to speaki in one voice.

Still waiting for you to counter my arguments with facts instead of passive aggressive taunts.
