Does anyone know if you have to play the first game in order to follow the storyline? or can you simply just play the second one without confusion.

Who here thinks the Extended Cut will not work? I kind of feel like I am the only one who doesn't believe this will work. I will be the first to admit I'm wrong if it turns out to be amazing though.

I'm feeling rather hopeful now that I've read that, since it seems they have all of their writers working on the extended cut. At least we don't have to wonder anymore about what went wrong in the first place (lack of resources, production was rushed, etc, judging from that interview).

well seeing as im jumping into witcher 2 without having played the first as many are id assume you can just jump in with the second one, and im yet again optimistic (sad i know lol) a few months is a long time so im hoping it turns out to be more than it seems

You feel you're the only one that doesn't think the Extended cut will work? 

Nah, I think theres a lot of skepticisim from everyone. I'm on the side that believes it is a complete BS move.

First answer- You don't really have to. But it does help to fill in the blanks concerning most of the main characters.

Second answer- I am neither here nor there. Although, I don't trust BioWare, so leaning towards the "flop" side of things.

There will be confusion even if you played the first Witcher, if you're anything like me.. Just kidding.

Do you ever get used to the awful VA? I stopped playing during the first hour of it a year back, since the VA was killing me in all languages I tried, ranging from English to German to Polish.

That doesn't make me feel positive at all. His response to everything seemed to be "It was too hard, so we gave up on it". To me, such moments are completely visible throughout the game, so I guess I already knew that.

so i was just in the shower and had a fanflash. imagine if you will the crucible does take the reaper sheilds down(someone elses fanfix) cut to normandy harrasing harby when she(yep normandy is a she) takes a hit from ground units. edi declares extreme damage and signels abanden ship, joker and edi fighting to keep normandy high enough to let the escape pods get free, edi anounces "all pods away" joker and edi look at each other, they know they cant escape, they have a deep moment of understanding jker nods at edi then turns the normandy towards harby.(cut to outside normandy) harby getting ready to fire normandy flying straight at its "eye"( cut to inside) edi and joker hold hands then impact, the normandy stikes harby in the "eye" as it was about to fire causing a masive blowback that destroys harby from within,

Right OK thanks for the reply, I was just wondering if I should TRY and play the PC game for the first one you see lol.

I don't think it's sad that you're optimistic, I would be too, I tend to be an optimist most times but I just can't see this going well, and I heartily hope I am completely wrong.

First, thank's for answering me. I wonder if I should just go ahead and buy it on PC. It's pretty cheap at the mo...hmm I shall think on it a little more, I'm really not into PC gaming lol.

Hmm.. I felt like that the other day (or night) after the PAX panel. And many, many days before it. 
Then I went away for a few days, slept on it (so to speak), and now.. I don't know. To me it seems like a tiny, tiny glimmer of hope.   At least they'll be able to fix it, at least there is a CHANCE now for a change for the better (which is something we didn't have a month ago).. *keeps fingers crossed*

off-topic on the Witcher VAs, yup horrible. I could stand (just barely) Geralt's VA in the first game, but the others were unbearable. I finished half the game and then gave up, though in retrospect, maybe I should've tried switching to german or some of the other languages first.. I wonder if they had japanese.. everything always sound much better in japanese, imo

Finally! I had hoped the official Q/A session wouldn't be the only word and that somebody would ask the guys at the panel in a more private manner.

Best news all week IMO. I'm still a bit unsure how they will explain Starkid in a way that makes sense, but still.
Haven't lost faith completely yet.

I like Weeks parts about the internal discussions. That sounds more like the internal workings of a Dev than this artistic vision business.

I know the odds aren't good right now, but this isn't bad.

This is exactly how I feel about it too, if they make this and it fixes all the glaring problems (which I seriously don't think is possible) then I will tip my hat to them so to speak.

It feels like they are just trying to make us shut up though "here have some free DLC that will extend your pain, and shut up. Oh by the way, buy this new MP DLC...It's fantastic"

If the Starbrat was all in Shepards head (as in, he never left earth...and no, dont mean indoc) then I would be fine with the brat...because Shepard has been dreaming about the kid since he was his shuttle explode. Just his imagination screwing with him.

To me it had to end up with:

a: The Reapers win, back in the dark space. Crack all. The subsequent chapters deal with the threat. Cliffhanger with members from our team survivor / stasis.

b: The Reapers can not win, retire and come back in the dark space. Considerable losses to the galaxy, Sheppy sacrifices himself for doing so. Some members of the team depending on our choices survive.

c: The Reapers are destroyed. Considerable losses to the galaxy, sheppy lives. Some members of the team depending on our choices survive. Cliffhanger Reapers final with a survivor. Subsequent chapters on understanding who or what were the Reapers.

Then variations of these options could be and how much you want.

They are trivial, but would maintain the sense of the saga and the gameplay. (It would have satisfied all)
