So we can't get the ending we want after all?

But I don't like his answers : always resources ....
that stinks for me ....it looks like time constraints to me not resources ...
and this game should have been 10 to 15 hours longer even without dlc....
They also missed great LI confrontations between LI.
they implied before that this will have implications ...
I was looking toward to ash vs Jack or ash vs Miranda .....
just proves that game should have come out in 12 months ...
That would have given them extra time to do everything right.
And we would not be here ....

actually took me longer to beat this one doing everything and listening to everything/everyone etc, took me 44 hours, and i agree on the confrontations, wasn't really that much of any confrontationfirstarioch wrote...

I think it's very much going to depend on your expectations, I'm keeping mine low because they were way too high for meeting up with starbrat, I expected an all out epic battle not some kid giving me a choice of three color crayons.xHezz90 wrote...
Who here thinks the Extended Cut will not work? I kind of feel like I am the only one who doesn't believe this will work. I will be the first to admit I'm wrong if it turns out to be amazing though.

That doesn't make me feel positive at all. His response to everything seemed to be "It was too hard, so we gave up on it". To me, such moments are completely visible throughout the game, so I guess I already knew that.
Then I went away for a few days, slept on it (so to speak), and now.. I don't know. To me it seems like a tiny, tiny glimmer of hope. At least they'll be able to fix it, at least there is a CHANCE now for a change for the better (which is something we didn't have a month ago).. *keeps fingers crossed*
Straight up, they couldn't possible make it any worse, lol.
But I guess I'm in the minority that didn't love the game before the ending. The moment before I hit earth to start the final mission, what was going through my mind was "That's it? You can't be serious. This ending had better save this game."... And then, well you know the rest.
So many reasons that I was disappointed beforehand... And then after completing the game, and realizing just how impersonal and non-customized my experience was with the game, I felt worse.
The people who made this game were afraid to program anything that it was possible for the player to miss out on. Complete Paragon, or complete renegade, you play through the exact same missions. I believe they regretted even having the suicide mission in the end, because it meant they had to hire a voice actor replace to fill in with a placeholder generic character for where the dead person was supposed to be. It's not like they were going to offer an alternative mission, or have play it out differently or anything, because it would be too much effort.
I would get into all the examples, but there are far to many. It's the same game for everybody. They basically disregard everything you did in ME1 and ME2 as easily as they possibly could. There's absolutely no excuse for it when the game was barely over 30 hours as is. Either make it longer, or add some variety. We got none.
Mass Effect ended up being the anti-thesis to everything it was supposed to be re: choices. It's a move amplified by that absolute crap excuse of an ending they gave us. If they fix the ending, it would make the game playable enough, which is what I guess I want. Something to form as a servicable bookend to Mass Effect 1 and 2. But with the ending as is, it can't even be that at the moment.

whats to decide there? ... I'd go to all of them ... [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]

It took me around 50 plus hours in first game.
Andxthst is just one playthtough.
Completed all planets scans+ all side quests etc ...literarry all.
Second game 40 + .complete.on specific playtbtough. I have more per each game.
third 44 hours ...and never never again.
I have multiple playthriughs ...I'm a completist.
I also thought that would be rewwarded and I get extra endings screens, actions moments etc.
you know what I mean ...
I have 3 to 4 olayrhtoughs per game ...more actually ..more ...
I thought all this will count ...and. fir bioware of old it would.
I have put into thus series circa 500 to 600 hours.
for me that ending is a slap in the face.
If they couldn't realised that vision they promised they should have bee honest andcsaud so.

Exactly. Not a hundered different War Assets, but rather 10-15 War Assets that you can clearly see. Take the SSV Leipzig, per description one of the first ships to use the Thanix Cannon. Or the Armali Sniper Unit. Same with all your ME2 Squadmates.
Ah, wihsful thinking on my part.
But like the famous philosopher Mick Jagger once said. "You can't always get what you want".

Same, I would like something more formal than what we have though. Hitting Alt+F4 then imagining the rest isn't good enough.

Oh, I agree with you. It's just that, at this point, I'd prefer anything other than the ending as it stands now.. Thus, any little change that helps Shepard not being basically character assasinated in the end, is a good thing for me.
So, I'll remain cautiously optimistic, for now.
Besides, I tend to believe that the type of information that comes out of unofficial interviews, like the one with Weeks, has more truth in it about what's really going on at Bioware, then their PR statements.
As far as the whole game is concerned, you're right. I think that most of us somewhat ignored the overall lack of choice in Mass Effect 3 since we were so emotionally caught up in it while playing for the first time, and because so many other things were done right. But then the ending came, and then days and weeks of excruciatingly long silence on Bioware's part. And that gave us time to take a long, hard look at all the little things that weren't done right (like the journal, the fetch quests, the EMS system, and all the previous choices being railroaded). So, yes, ME3 should've (could've) been a much better game, overall. Well, at least now we know why it wasn't.
Funny how the not knowing is almost the worst part. Almost.
