Who here thinks the Extended Cut will not work? I kind of feel like I am the only one who doesn't believe this will work. I will be the first to admit I'm wrong if it turns out to be amazing though.

I think it's very much going to depend on your expectations, I'm keeping mine low because they were way too high for meeting up with starbrat, I expected an all out epic battle not some kid giving me a choice of three color crayons.

I have mixed feelings about it.

On one hand we may actually see the war assets we spent ages collecting actually making a difference in the battle. Plot holes may be filled, such as why starchild couldn't activate the citadel in the first game. We may get to find out what happens to everyone after the battle.

On the other hand, the Galaxy will still be screwed because the relays have been destroyed, which means that everyone will probably starve to death anyway, no matter how many plot holes get filled. (I know about the tweet saying that they didn't starve, but something that important should be in the game to confirm how they survive).

They may just be red herrings to try to keep us quiet, but it has been mentioned a couple of times that the extended cut wouldn't conflict with an indoctrination ending, so it is possibble that they may make a new ending or maybe even add extra end choices somewhere down the line.

So it depends on which mood i'm in. If i'm in a good mood, I tend to think more about the extended cut as a way of filling plot holes, if i'm in a bad mood I think that it is pointless trying to extend a bad ending.

I dunno bout the PS3 but if you're lazy, the Xbox 360 is really easy. Hold down the button in the center of the controller for a few seconds and tell it to shut off console. :P

I actually feel like we lost. This unofficial interview clearly proves that they are planning to expand on what they got. This is a nightmare. However, I am not giving up quite yet. I will wait to see how this turns out. Nevertheless, if they really expand on the ending and only "clarify", I will say goodbye to bioware.

Mass Effect ended up being the anti-thesis to everything it was supposed to be re: choices. It's a move amplified by that absolute crap excuse of an ending they gave us. If they fix the ending, it would make the game playable enough, which is what I guess I want. Something to form as a servicable bookend to Mass Effect 1 and 2. But with the ending as is, it can't even be that at the moment.

Oh, I agree with you. It's just that, at this point, I'd prefer anything other than the ending as it stands now..  Thus, any little change that helps Shepard not being basically character assasinated in the end, is a good thing for me.
So, I'll remain cautiously optimistic, for now.

Besides, I tend to believe that the type of information that comes out of unofficial interviews, like the one with Weeks, has more truth in it about what's really going on at Bioware, then their PR statements.

As far as the whole game is concerned, you're right. I think that most of us somewhat ignored the overall lack of choice in Mass Effect 3 since we were so emotionally caught up in it while playing for the first time, and because so many other things were done right. But then the ending came, and then days and weeks of excruciatingly long silence on Bioware's part. And that gave us time to take a long, hard look at all the little things that weren't done right (like the journal, the fetch quests, the EMS system, and all the previous choices being railroaded). So, yes, ME3 should've (could've) been a much better game, overall. Well, at least now we know why it wasn't.
Funny how the not knowing is almost the worst part.  Almost. ;)

It is disappointing how they set up the game for a single playthrough. I always felt like Mass Effect 3 was supposed to be the example of ultimate single player replayability. Well, I feel that way because Bioware pretty much told us it was going to be. They really need to break this cycle of short production... er, cycles. I'm not going to get into all he problems I had with the game though, because we'll all be sitting here for a while if we do.

With the ending though, I'm not entirely sure how the lack of production time effected it. With how defensive Bioware is getting about it, it's clear they hold it dear for some reason. I don't know if we'll ever figure out why. Shepard's character assasination was part of their artistic vision, so I don't think we'll see them sully the integrity of it by changing that. The only way they can save it is by not forcing her to pick a colour to destroy the galaxy with. If they can manage this, then I'll be happy. Again, I have extreme doubts that they can even give us this.

I like the honesty from Weeks, and I don't blame him for what happened with the game, but I'd still like more then just excuses. I want fixes, an apology, and a promise that it won't happen next time. The problem is that it's totally happening again next time. That's the one reason I'm sure I won't have a problem boycotting Dragon Age 3, because I don't believe I want to even play it anymore.

As long as garrus doesn't start hugging people again we will be fine. It somehow sets off a disco that makes Shepard perform his Shepard shuffle.
