Honestly I still think indoctrine theory is right; but not just shepard but us.

I'm basing my fan fic on the Indoc Theory. ^_^

Same... but I also want to include the trial where all my choices in the games I played come back to help/haunt me.

A post earlier caught my attention and woke one of my plot bunnies up. If EA really wanted an open ended ending, then they should have gone the route of revealing that the Reapers were harvesting organic life to replenish their ranks to fight something even bigger threatening to destroy the entire universe.

Think of all the ways the game could have been expanded. Think of the massive new relay network that spans not just one galaxy, but hundreds. That is how you leave it open. Pull back the players perspective so they can see the big picture and let it sink in for that 'Oh, F***' moment.

That's how I would have done it.

This is brilliant, btw.  And I think it would've worked really well.

Yeah... I know what you guys mean... I don't think I've been this bad with jumping to different games since I was like... 15 or 16 maybe... :?

I actually don't think I have ever done this before, I tend to stick with whatever game I happen to want to play at that moment, but now? well I really want to play ME3 but I can't due to the sickening thought of getting to the end again, it would ruin the rest of the game. So I'm jumping between every game I own trying to find something to captivate me, nothing has done so yet.

I'm just right now giving Deus Ex: HR a shot, I'm so not into first person games but I'm willing to try anything withing reason lol.

I'm thinking of doing that as well, but it will be a while before I get around to it, since I'm doing the ending frist, then I'll be doing other stuff, like the Trial... um 15 years on maybe, stuff like that

@Nharia - age has nothing to do with it. we did a Halloween sweet hunt last year, i put them all out hidden in the trickiest places in the garden and when it was dark everyone went out with flashlights to find it all. it took ages lol.

When I think of Q I think of him i44.tinypic.com/72px5z.jpg

But I guess it doesn't help that I've never actually watched Star Trek before.

Question, in the first few hundred pages of this post there were plenty of "fanboys" counterposting expressing that there was nothing wrong with the "one" endings, did any of you ("FANboys") manage to make it here? Or were there no suvivors just like at some space magic Beam me up place where I'm told there were "No survivors" except for the 2 survivors that went unspoken of because it was way artistic visionary of them.

Artistic vision, Lolz...EA the A stands for Art, oh thats funny.

So any way are there any defenders of the are left in the room???1?

Excellent.. I think I found it: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0282303/

Well, believe it or not, the first one (Once upon a time - man) was on HRT (Croatian public television) a few years ago, as part of the children's educational programme. That's why I immediately recognized the art style.. And 'Once upon a time- life' has been running on reruns every few years (it's was apparently very popular here, so I've seen it, even though I'm no longer a kid, heh).. :D An excellent series, though, and very educational.

And now back on-topic, lest we get scolded by Mr. Connery. ;)

Once upon space !!! watch it ..
I belive that writers of ME also borrowed heavy from it as it was collaborated with TV canda as well.It must have been broadcast in Canada in the 80s so they must hve watched it as children .I know I did and it influenced me and my intrests since than...( Also I was sci fi buff before )
So all the french influence...(europeAN ) etc
I think BOth our beloved game ME as well as Babylon 5 were influneced by it.
You croatIAN?
I love Goran !! Have all his matches taped from end of 80s through 90s and ofcourse WImby final 2001.
My fav Tennis player ever.
Sorry offtopic aswell bit but hopefully forgiven.

I thought he was the reason why we got the endings that we did... or is that an uncomfirmed rumor?

I was actually wondering this myself, does anyone actually have proof it was Casey's fault?

I find it hard to believe it was one persons fault tbh.

You're not going to find any "proof" consisting of hudson and walters saying, "yes don't blame the rest of the writers for the ending, we tried to do that ourselves."  The only clue anyone has about why the endings happened the way they did was a supposedly denied post by Patrick Weekes on the Penny Arcade forum, where he would routinely post "behind the scenes" information for an hour and then take it down, to get the word out but with the understanding that people reading it would not quote him directly.  It was basically his way of trying to provide an "anonymous insider says..."   But in this case the topic was so controverial that someone kind of betrayed his trust and captured a screenshot of his post and sent it to a gaming website where they published it and it erupted.  Weekes was then either forced to deny it if he wanted to keep his job, or told by preistly et al to keep his mouth shut if he wants to keep his job.

If you want to see the other pieces of evidence that Weekes did write it, check this out and ask yourself, do those additional posts sound like someone whose account has been hacked, or does it sound like someone trying to keep a lid on something that didn't go as planned.  And then read the interview link someone posted earlier, and notice the strong correlation between his answers and the information contained in the PA post.

I've heard of people getting as far as the Mars mission and just quitting.. me, I've managed to play as far as Grissom Academy on my second playthrough and now I'm stuck on the Citadel side-missions.. which I really don't feel like doing again.. gee, I wonder why...

edit: though i doubt it was just one person's fault, many blame him and Walters for soloing the ending though

Is this an actual fact? or just a rumour? I have always wondered to be prefectly honest.

from everything ive seen its just rumor and people looking for someone to blame, theres also that thing where Weekes supposedly said they did solo it but both him and Priestly have both said it wasn't Weekes who wrote it

Weekes never denied it to any of the fans directly.  All we have is priestly saying "I asked him and Weekes denied it."  The only reason I don't take this as an unimpeachable source is it is priestly's job to make leaks and other PR disasters go away, and there have been instances in the past...I'll end there.

Instead of just taking a statement related to a PR disaster from someone who is paid to make PR disasters go away for a living, there is a lot of additional evidence out there that pretty much fits perfectly with the supposedly denied leak.  Also, notice the lack of concern that a very important Penny Arcade account was hacked.  Do you think if Stanley Woo's account had been hacked and someone made a fake post, people might be talking about it on the BSN forums?  But you don't find such talk on the Penny Arcade forum, because everyone there knows it was really Weekes.  Instead their discussion is about what d*ckhead betrayed Patrick's trust.

EDIT: Specific evidence about the post aside, his explanation is the ONLY explanation which actually connects the dots and explains why we can have amazing storytelling in the entire rest of the game (think the Tuchanka finale) but have the ending take such a turn off the deep end.

I dunno. Maybe if I had friends that had watched it or something, I would have. But I haven't watched any of the spacey sci-fi shows that have come and gone on TV, except the 12 episodes of Firefly because someone told me I had to (they were right). Those shows just aren't my thing.

I liked Star Wars, but outside of that my favourite Sci-fi movies are Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Movies with real themes and a deep meaning, unlike whatever the hell the ending to Mass Effect 3 had. Those were what I would call true art, whereas Mass Effect 3 was attempting to be artsy for the sake of being artsy. I don't know if Hudon and Walters realize just how far they missed the mark by trying to emulate those.

Yeah I'm guilty of playing the thing through 6 times, I'm on my 7th run now... Well not at this exact moment, I'm playing Skyrim right now... Ah the joy of slaughtering entire villages of people and getting away with it just because I have enough money and because no one saw me do it~!

Really?  I'm... in.. total AWE of Nharia right now. Now, that's bravery.

Hezz, I was like that at first.. couldn't play it, just shut the game off, heck, I've shut all games off after the loading screen. I couldn't play anything at all (and believe me, I've tried playing every single game I that own). Then after a few weeks I got this jonesing for some good ole fashioned fantasy rpg and played a bit of DAO and then LoTR: War in the north. That seemed to do the trick, somehow, and now I'm back to my regular gaming habits.

I can even play ME3 again.. just not continue to play it, apparently. But, I can at least play other games again, thankfully.
