Yeah, it's argued we cannot win a conventional war with the reapers, but we can take down a reaper with a single shot from a cain....wait what?CaptnObvious wrote...
Please; tiny M-920 Cains, and nothing else. They can "kinda" take down a Reaper...
So we can't get the ending we want after all?

Lol it's possible only if it's Shep. Well, Shep could probably take it out with a spoon or something, but we always need some plot convenience..
Though to be honest, if i remember right, the Reaper you shot down is actually just a lesser kind, alike to our conventional AA guns versus our tanks. The ones like Harbinger are probably tougher (alike tanks nowadays).

More than Reapers have been shown to have there own code that can be attacked... um... time for EDI to shine.
She it literally the antihesis of everything the Catalyst is and believes. All you need is for Shepard and gang to hold off Harby and Reapers while she and Catalyst duke it. You could even have the crew join her the same way Shepard joined the Geth Collective on Rannoch.
So many creative ways to attack that Catalyst.

Those are obviously the rookie reapers.. they've only been fighting for 100,000 years... not like us we've been around 30.... hrmmm

That was a Hades cannon and I think those fall under the "not sentient" reaper-vessels. Of course, if we had that Cain for more than one tiny mission the whole fight would have been easier ^^

Wait minute... if Simon and team Dai Gurran can take on the entire Anti- Spiral Armanda with a single - be it kick ass ship but still 1 ship and win. Why can't we beat the Reapers with a entire Armada... oh yeah.. Artistic Integrity

No ME3 news, DA3 will apparently have lots of meaningful choices and won't reuse the same areas over and over.

What really bothers me is seeing how much damage a single, hand-held Cain can do, and remembering in some Codex that they said the Alliance had space-ship sized Cain cannons, yet we never see one used properly. Or were those the Dreadnoughts main weapon?

That was obviously the Asari Consort Alliance Budget Appropriations Scandal effects. Turned out those 'spaceship sized Cain Cannons' were never installed properly due to that ;P

The smaller Reapers are known as Destroyers, and you take out three of them during ME3 (One on Tuchanka, one on Rhanoc and one in London). The larger Reapers are called 'Sovereign-class' Reapers, after Sovereign.
I'm guessing that the Destroyers were 'invented' since it is clear that the full-sized Reapers would be WAY too powerful for Shepard to hurt - sort of using harsh language. Sovereign, for example, was quite capable of sitting their while the entire third fleet shot at it from point blank range.
Of course the power of the destroyers isn't uniform. The one on Rhanoc was capable of withstanding the fire of most of the Quarian fleet several times...although I guess you could argue that the effectiveness of the Quarian fire was reduced as they were firing through the atmosphere.
And I'm slightly worried that I know such things, considering I tend not to read the codex and only managed to play through ME3 once....
