They wanted an emotional buildup to the release of ME3 on the 6th, so they wrote these every 5 mins or so. If you visualise whats happening it is quite cool, but it would have been awesom to actually see that in game or at least the last part with her shuutle going ito a reaper on earth as you were leaving.

i didn't know they did this when i first started playing so when i played i was like "Where the hell is Wong" then i found out about it, hell just an email or something about it happening in-game would have been fine

Ok I'm sure this has been discussed to death but what exactly was the point in getting an IGN reporter to do the voice of a character in ME3? Was it just them trying to be clever because I found it very obvious she wasn't a professional voice actor and it really annoyed me. If they want to hire non-pros for any future games I might as well put my name forward...

Edit: just realized someone else posted a similar comment while I was typing this lol

They were probably trying to either get cozy with some of the bigger gaming magazines or trying to get the game full of well known people. I also found her voice acting weak. Also she never had much to actually do. I think you only get 2 interviews with her and talk to her once when you first meet her. At least Emily Wong could have actually given you updates on news from around the galaxy and asked if you wanted to edit anything to keep morale up (eg don't report that a colony has gone dark)

Chobot = IGN = marketing gimmick.

Also, this: http://social.biowar.../index/11189504

.. and yet they just had to waste those resources on Chobot.. ~sigh~

They decide not to render Tali face in-game, or give more time to any of the pre-established characters (Wong, Parasini, Kal Reegar), but put in a marketing gimmick instead.. meh..

Aye... The whole reporter on ship thing would have been a stronger part of the story if it was Emily Wong... I talked to Chobot 3 times in the game, when you ''recruit'' her and then when she interviews you... And it just felt like a weak after-thought to have her on-board...

Well I didn't know who the hell she was before the game. Her whole character in the game annoyed me, then I read some of her tweets and reports afterwards and it seems like she's an annoying personal in real life as well. I liked Emily Wong and was always a bit confused why I only got an e-mail from her in ME2 and never got to speak to her again?

Agreed, there was no inflection in her voice at all, no attempts to impart any kind of feeling - urgh.
Edit: sorting out pyramids Image IPB

It was a gimmick.  Part of the problem was too much attention was taken up with gimmicks instead of just focusing on good content.  Tell you what, how about you go cancel that "space edition" PR grab and instead give me a couple more lines of dialogue with my LI or how about a quest journal which actually updates.

There was an email about him if he lived in ME2. He sacrificed himself to save a group of colonists and get them on a shuttle. So I don't mind him dying offscreen, because it was still a good death and actually in character (unlike shep)

Kal Reegar + Shepard = Instant win against the repearswithout the need for the crucible and no casulties.

I didn't know who she was before this either. Her character didn't really annoy me, she wasn't important enough to annoy me in all honesty, but her voice acting (or lack-there-of) was dreadful. I could have done better and that's saying a whole heck of a lot.

You remember correctly, he died saving some (turian I think?) colonists.

Same as I did. Only did the inteviews, didn't care about her the rest of the time. Maybe because her clothes annoyed me that much. Alliance swimsuit or whatever she wears

Yeah I know, I got the email. Whether he died a good death or not I would have liked to have been there helping him, I really liked his character and Adam Baldwin is a good actor in my opinion.

Yup, another wasted opportunity to make an epic game more epic, imo..  apparently they didn't even contact Adam Baldwin for ME3, the man doesn't even know they killed his character off screen (there was a thread on bsn- someone got his autograph during a convention and asked him about ME3)

p.s. Hezz, is that a new signature? I like it :D

Maybe Adam Baldwin got wind of the endings and said, I don't want my name to be associated anywhere near that.

ME wikia:
Towards the endgame, if Kal'Reegar survived Haestrom, Shepard will receive an Alliance News Network update stating that Reegar and his squad sacrificed their lives on Palaven repairing and protecting a critical communications tower used for relaying critical mission information back to the Hierarchy.
