Just wanted to put in my two cents after this whole "Extended Cut" thing was announced. Needed some days to cool off my head, wouldn't have been pretty if I posted something here before.
Can't say something that wasn't already said so, again:
Bioware didn't listen to us or rather, they just heard what they wanted to hear. I'm so disappointed in this company...and no, it doesn't rise my opinion just because it's free.
Free **** is still **** even with sprinkles upon it!
They really had no backup plan at all. There was no indoc theory or "the truth" dlc, no, they're still calling on this artistic integrity crap and apllaud themselves for that....that..."ending".
Bioware is already dead. They just don't know it yet. It doesn't matter anymore what they announce, many comments on other gaming websites picture them as a laughingstock of a former great game developer.
line: "...yeah yeah....Bioware announces many things if the day is long enough." (not from me)
If they really pull through with that last casket nail and don't offer more or change the current endings, then they're really done for.
Give them 2-3 more years then EA will shut them down just because their future products won't sell as good anymore.
Funny thing about that? People will have multiple answers as to why and when that downfall begun. Sad thing on the same account is that they had(still have) more then enough chances to make a grand comeback.
This is pretty much how I feel. BioWare is definitely hearing what they want to hear as opposed to what we are actually saying. Asking for the ending that was advertided (one that takes our decisions into account and provides closure) is not an unreasonable request. Asking it to make sense goes without saying. I don't know what happened to the writing staff between the last mission and the ending...likely it wasn't their fault but rather someone high up in BioWare/EA (Casey and/or Mac probably).
I don't buy the "artistic vision" thing one bit. As much as video games are interactive art, they are also a consumer product. And in a consumer-driven economy, the consumer has a right to expect exactly what is advertised. In this case, BioWare is on record saying that the ending will take our decisions into account and provide closure. It does not do either of those things, nor does it make sense. The fact that people needed to come up with theories in order to make sense of the ending just solidifies the fact that it was poor writing. If only the last 1% of the game could have been as good as the other 99% of it.
