Being a persian helps learning all other languages. It's retardedly hard.

I have long held the theory that if you speak a language other than english as a first language, it's easier to understand / pronounce other languages. Dutch uses such a wide range of sounds that weirdly the only language I have trouble with is German because it's too harsh a language for me in comparison to Dutch.

That is true... english speakers get lazy because their language is a "Type 1" language.

Quite right you'll have one kanji meaning tree for example but that word will change depending on the kanji character next to it. You also have multiple pronounciations of the same character which you need to learn as well. If I remember correctly (and Tami feel free to correct me) the majority of Japanese will know around 3000 Kanji.

Ok, I'm going to try to steer this a bit more on topic before we get shut down: Was it ever explained that in the ME universe if they used universal translators? I know I just automatically assumed that, but does anyone know if it was ever actually explained?

I think learnign japanese is one of the reason they become so good and memory oriented tasks. Might be their culture, but now I think is their language... Learning japanese as a kid ....wow
