i think i said something 1500+ pages back that was similar to this, i wondered why the Catalyst would be in the form of the child, wouldn't it look like something completely unknown, like whatever it was that created it?Phoenix NL wrote...
See I could understand that child representing the lives that Shepard can't save but what I don't understand is why or how the Catalyst would know to use that image. This suggests either that the Catalyst is somehow in Shepard's head or it's a situation like when in the Geth Consensus that Shepard's mind is turning it into something recognizable. Either way it's odd and I was very taken aback when I saw it at the end of the game because it was so nonsensical.

I figured it had something to do with Shep going into the geth consensus. So Shepards memorys are uploaded and the catalyst has acsess to it due to the reaper code. But yes it felt just odd in the end. Even before starchild said anything I was like "Really?! You're going with this?".

Even knowing the ending, I thought Bioware was trying to trick the players into choosing something other than the main goal (destroy the Reapers).
Then I thought it was a joke...I still don't get why it was that creepy kid.

It was forced emotion through lazy writing. It gets frustrating. I don't like to be told how I'm supposed to feel about something by a writer. It should be natural.
Yes especially since you had no connection to the kid whatsoever. Yes children dieing is a tragedy, hell if anyone dies it's a tragedy. But it felt like generic war movie cliché #902
*edit* Especially since you don't see children during the first two games and then bam the first one you see dies within 20 minutes of the game.
“One child would be the face of the people on Earth whom Shepard could not save”
Lol. Again, just because Bioware says we have to feel sorry for that child doesn't mean we have to. Using the face of a child to force emotion is the oldest trick in the book.

Lol yeah, especially in ME2... It is the romance scene that made me think about it, since she takes off her mask and just jump on him, no words no nothing. At first i thought if he talked it would be garbled or something like thatDj14365 wrote...
At that point at least when Tali is an li it doesn't matter what shep is saying.CaptnObvious wrote...
That makes me think of something:
In LoSB, you can see the changes in Tali's combination, and one of them is some universal translator again, like with the Omni-Tool, but it's uploaded to her suit instead. Thing is, in a way, wouldn't she not understand Shepard when she takes off her helmet?
But then in ME3, on Rannoch she takes it off and talk with Shep, so i didn't have much reason to question it...

Just my thought. When i saw the kid crash at first, i laughed. It was just ridiculous, out of everything Shepard does (depending on your origin choice...). Mine was a war hero, he probably saw thousands of dead kids.
I always wondered why they didn't use someone more significant, like in my case, why not his mother, coming to see his hearing after being imprisoned. I just thought it would've been sadder to see her die, instead of random kid number 54392859=]
