Off topic: I adored DA:O but never got DA2. Worth it?
Eh that's a tough one. I didn't hate it as much as alot of people. Still there's a very sharp difference between in and DAO.
Things I liked. Some of the story moments in the game were really awesome. I'd even say some of the story moments in the game were some of the best I've ever seen with Bioware, though of course not all are as great. Fights actually could be challenging. On the harder difficulty settings, boss fights were often really long and difficult affairs, lasting 20 minutes or more, which I personally enjoyed. Pretty good dlc, especially the second. They brought back all companion voice actors for dialogue, which is very rare in dlc.
Things I didn't like. There's no real central plot or goal. Well there KINDA is, though its only alluded to until the last chapter. There's no real villain. Its mostly just "guy piddles around for 6 years solving different smaller plots." Combat could feel pretty button mashy and repetitive, depending on your class. It was kinda dumbed down from the previous game. Ending isn't quite as bad as ME3, but its kind of a "lots of speculation" ending. It sucks but is more acceptable as they're obviously setting up a sequel. Finally aside from.a couple, I didn't really like your companions. Alot of them were just very sour and unpleasant. Also some are kinda one note characters where about 50-75% of their dialogue involves their particular issue.
Overall despite the flaws I did kinda enjoy it. It certainly earned more playthroughs than ME3, barring some awesome stuff in this ending dlc.
