Many fans (and a few of us here at Game Front) believe the ending of Mass Effect 3 qualitatively isn’t good enough, so that colors the artistic merit debate greatly.

Now why do I feel that wasn't meant to be just a figure of speech?

lol quite funny!

I wonder why NOT playing MP makes you think it will help in any way. It's free and its quite enjoyable. As much as i f***** hate the bs ending, I like MP quite a bit.

I'd like to play some MP, but I don't have the money for a Xbox Live Gold account...

they also have to travel many lightyears between missions etc. so have more time to develop those relationships.

Exactly.

Actually, despite all i'm starting to feel sorry for Bioware. My reaction is exactly the same, yet they are really trying hard to please us (they dont even cherge money for the MP DLC- and i am pretty sure they planned on before the "Endings- incident").

It seems they have one of those years in which whatever they do is wrong

Maybe they should take a break- and come up with a nice (Ending-) addon for ME 3 next year, before they mess up even more by accident :innocent:

Ech, I hope they reconsider their decision about only clarification dlc but it's only wishful thinking.

If Bioware turned around and said that they were going to rework the ending or provide additional options based on our feedback but that it was going to take x number of months, I could live with that, I would support them through that.
I'm a reasonably intelligent person and I don't appreciate basically being told that I'm too stupid to understand how amazing their ending is so for those of us who are challenged in the appreciation of artistic integrity they will provide "clarity". But I will live in hope and see what they come up with.

Actually, a happy ending does work for ME3, and it can make sense. As long as you do it properly. Although, the first thing that should be done is to define "happy ending". If suddenly everybody is alive and nothing ever happened, then it doesn't feel real.

For me a happy ending would be where Shepard is reunited with the crew and his LI. And I think that a romance can actually be plausible.
You cannot really compare this to paramedics. Shepard and the crew spend months together. With their interation and talks the crew gets to know each other. Plus with all the things they go through, I think they are bound to get closer to each other, and maybe develop feelings for each other. But while I see it that way, others think that it doesn't make sense. Therefore, they can choose to not start a romance.

As I said before, and ending where Shepard lives and is reunited with the crew, can make sense and I would consider a happy ending. But it isn't all good, a lot of lives have still been lost, the earth is still in ashes, and a lot of the allies also died.

This. Why shouldn't their be a **** YEAH ending?

I'm willing to give EC-DLC and Bioware one more chance. Ok, they did say 'no new endings'. But they also said they'd be building on the existing ones, and technically Shepard laughing her ass off before shooting starbrat and then riding to the sunset on a flying space unicorn is building on extisting ones... So there's a chance the DLC will be satisfactory.  Maybe.

I'm an unreasonably intelligent person, but I don't feel Bioware as such has tried to insult my intelligence. Though I migth have missed some of the tweets (damn all of their 140 letters to hell) and announcements. Some pro-enders on the other hand...

Heh Well I'm still here how goes it at this hour? I been playing ME2 and I forgot how much content there's crammed into the game. Sure some ops are short but with the companions, their loyalty missions and the N7 stuff. There's a lot of stuff to do not counting the DLC.

Maybe something on bittersweet endings.

While I appreciate happy endings(Open palm Jade Empire, anyone?), I can live with bittersweet. An excellent example that comes to my mind is Grand Theft Auto IV, both the main game as well as The Lost and Damned. Some day I will finish The Ballad of Gay Tony, so cannot speak for that ending.

In the main game Niko loses someone he loves, whter it be his cousin Roman who, despite his flaws, is still family and helps Niko, or be it Kate McReary, who captures his heart. Shortly before Niko finally can kill the one who betrayed him and his fellow soldiers during the war or eh can spare him. --> Closure!
And in the last mission, he gets revenge on the person that killed his cousin or Kate. Yet after that, he doesn't celebrate, he feels empty, because he lost a person that meant a lot to him.

In the Lost and Damned, the Lost MC falls apart in the end, Johnny and the few remaining members torch down the old clubhouse. Earlier his good friend Jim died, who cut back his time with the other members and became a family man.

Both those endings felt very emotional. But more importantly they made sense and were very well done. And another thing, in both games the main character didn't die. I know that his was important because players might want to complete other missions/activities without starting a new game, but it shows that the hero doesn't need to die. Consider this all you "Shepard-needs-to-die-for-the-story-to-be-epic"-people. He/she simply doesn't.

And even if you kill a character, do it right. Modern Warfare 1 did it right in "Aftermath", where you crawl from the helicopter and finally die from the radiation and other possible injuries. By Modern Warfare 2 it got boring, because every two missions, a major character died.

No he wasn't an underbridger, just felt that a happy ending would be inappropriate within the context of the game which is fair enough - I just didn't agree with all of his points. Image IPB

*hugs* how are you this morning?

Edit: As I was clicking submit the program I was watching mentioned homemade root beer lol.
