Marisa Shepard was my first ME character and she romanced Kaidean. I miss her journey and wish the final moments had been worthy of her.

Yes I wish this for my Shepard also whom I sadly (aka pathetically) named after myself. She also romanced Kaidan and the ending went against everything she ever done in the previous game (PS3 owner).

Hey, I named my Shepard after myself too! :o
Did I mention the part where I name every character that requires to be named "Tami"? (it is so pathetic)

Oh wait. Except my Pokemon games. I use my Japanese nickname for that.

Who doesn't name charachters after themselves. I have a Dylan shep. After you finish your personal one you get creative. In my case Samuel L. Shep and Bruce Lee Shep.

As an author, I never name characters after myself. Most prominant characters in any story I write also won't be named after myself or anyone I know in real life unless a certain name just "fits" either because of influence or some other reason.

Does anyone else think or hope that this whole ballyhoo will help to influence journalistic practices? I for one do not like the fact that most news these days is "handled" by vested interests intent on controlling the message. And that includes the video games industry.

I think they'll be a lot more careful which side they pick in the future... probably leading them to pick no side... unbiased journalism.. what a novel concept :innocent:

As always, in journalism, they need to find a scapegoat to have hitting, action packed articles... Unbiased journalism, who would want that?!

Haters gonna hate!

Well, it needs to go that way. I no longer trust most mainstream media - always an agenda. Even if its just to distract. I listen to NPR or go on the internet and research a subject if I want to get the real story. In fifty years this is what "news" will be - as well as reviews and such.

There will always be demagogues, but with the rise of the internet culture and readily-available access to social tools, there'll always be a "second opinion" available. Unless, of course, the corps get their way and lock down the internet so that we either see only what they want us to see or start an underground subculture.

I don't think it will. Sadly. Game journalists will keep: first, they need to keep their websites competitive. For this, they keep the big developers happy, so they give them previews, and "exclusive looks". So, the sites give them amazing scores no matter how the game turned out to be.

Then, journalism is dead. Especially in the age of speed. Lightining speed news. They go with any hint or gossip they got, and hire any jerk to talk like they know something about the stuff. And after a few months, the guy's ego is so massive that he really believes the stuff he writes.

So, no. I don't think it will change them. Their egos are on the way.

And sadly, this symbiotic relationship also degrades developers.

I don't name game characters after myself, they tend to DIE in a glorious way or manner.I've used alot of "Milo"in the 90s when games only gave you four spaces for your name.

Same here. Out of all my playthroughs (3+ per game) of KotOR 1 & 2, the DA series, ME series, SWTOR, JE, and Skyrim I have only used my real name once for a Shepard. I tend to gravitivate towards the same names though: Kael, Selene, Ciara, Amaris, Ireul, Jason, Amaya, Eirya...

Over the last three hundred years, proper journalism has produced or helped to facilitate the greatest reforms in human history, in large part due to the fact that, yes, one way to get noticed in the business was to report something controversial.

And then, the corps figured out how to co-opt journalism for their own ends...

As to gaming journalism, I hope it leads to some more accurate/unbiased reviews of games.  They will never admit it, but I think a few groups may feel like they backed the wrong horse in this race...

Oh, and Bruinbear (Bruinbear99 if you see me in MP) has been my gamertag since I was accepted to college...back in '95 lol.  I don't think it is going to change, because it was my tag when I met my wife.  Yes, we met in Everquest back in 2001 or so.  It is a nerd and proud family. =)

Has anyone found out that even if the game will let you play a problem more than one way you always pick the same way?Like I'll always save the Krogan cause I like Wrex, and my Shepards is loyal to their friends. Also Ash has never killed Wrex in 2.I find I'm strange like that.More choices!Yes!But end up playing the same way.And with the lack of exploration ME3 really has no replay past a certian point.
