Honestly, I am all for bittersweet endings but these seem kind of lame and rather hackish

I'm killing my Shep on purpose, having a good ending in this series wouldn't feel right. I want it to be like Armageddon

It's the only thing Shepard cares about and if Shepard reaches his/her goal, that makes me happy for Shepard, even if he/she doesn't get a happy ending afterwords. Also, PLAY THE ****ING GAME AND FIND OUT THE ENDING FOR YOURSELF INSTEAD OF LISTENING TO A BUNCH OF LAME ****S WHO HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN MAKE UP SAD ENDINGS AND ****** OFF FANS!!!

You should take your own advice. You are wasting energy and getting riled up.

I just get mad at idiots, and I'm multitasking, I'm working and being a productive member of society.  I'm typing in caps to get peoples attention and make my point, if I was really that mas, I'll be a very sad excuse of a person, it's a game, I'm a fan, I respect the writers and creators choices.  I will buy my copy, play the game and enjoy the journey, the adventure is the fun of the game, not the ending.

yea, that has me wondering as well thats one of the things that stinks with the endings. í mean the fight is at the local cluster why the hell would the normandy be elsewere?

For the same reason in Fallout 3 the radition proof mutant and robot won't go into the radition filled chamber to push 4 buttons . . .

because.

After reading some of these posts, somehow I still want to play this game, even if the ending does happen it has me interested in where Bioware can take the story from there.

Welcome to the world of a Cerberus fan.

As a Cerberus fan I'm completley disgusted by these endings. What do you find redeeming? Earth destroyed, the extrasolar colonies lost and the galaxy always enters a new dark age. In each case humanity is basically screwed. In fact, in one ending humanity is lost entirely as organics are mixed with synthetics. What have we been fighting for?

Can someone point me to where it says the Normandy will be stranded? The endings leak says nothing of it - plus, it also says that you can take two henchmen with you and they have a chance of dying on the way to the conduit (which means they could also survive and be there with you).

A little help?

If they really wanted the entire story to be about nothing but the end result stopping the Reapers at all cost they could have made this a first person shooter with a faceless, nameless protagonist and 2 dimensional npc.

The story is Shepard's story, by their own admission. And the entire point of it is that there are important things to him. Not just defeating the Reapers.

Why, as writers, groom us to care so much about Shepard, the other characters and the relationships and emotional investments when in the end those things aren't important. What's "important" is simply "defeating the Reapers"? I don't think so.

You are totally right again. I wish more people would say it louder that them devs would get that they have dropped the ball big time, if these endings are all we can expect from ME3.

Where is this information from?

I'm skeptical until I see the endings for myself, but if that really is the best ending I'll be pretty pissed. There's bittersweet and then there's just needlessly depressing.

Yeah, that's the part I don't get.  Details aren't exactly fitting together.

"It's controversial! Just kidding it's bull****. Making your character die at the end does not make the majority of people sad or feel proud or anything like that. It just makes people angry. Because this character has been your escape from reality. A little bit of pleasure outside of the modern world that makes you forget about all the horrible **** that goes down every day. Mass Effect, the series you've put hundreds of hours into and in return you get some bittersweet, dramatic bull**** no matter what happens? Why do I need to reminded of how hopeless life can be?

Because the real world sucks. These are some of the news headlines for today:

Death toll in Ohio School Shooting rises
Massachusetts teacher facing child porn charges had secret cameras in classroom
Remains of some 9-11 victims went to landfill
Syria Death Toll Rises, as EU Slaps More Sanctions
14 year old shoots and kills mother
South Carolina lobbyist found dead inside parking garage likely committed suicide
Jurors being seated in Pa. priest child-rape case

This is the **** we are hit with every fricking day. And that's not including the stuff we deal with our own lives. Relatives who have cancer, parents who are getting divorced, bills and debt piling up, spending every day in a 9 to 5 job just trying to get by.

Is it really so awful that we want the things that we consider to be entertainment, something other than the horribly depressing tones of every day life to actually be happy? To actually be an escape from what we deal with in the real world. Is that really so much to ask?"

Amen to that

A consequence if you destroy the Reaper tech

In each case humanity is basically screwed.

Not true actually. I wouldn't mind if that was the case though.

In fact, in one ending humanity is lost entirely as organics are mixed with synthetics.

If you so choose.

What have we been fighting for?

To stop the Reapers and to stop the cycle of course.

I recently finished reading 11/22/63, Stephen King's new novel, and no matter how badly things go for Shepard and his love interest, I will still be far more gutted by the ending of that novel. No other doomed love story I've ever seen has messed me up like 11/22/63. Honestly, the ME3 endings are sunny by comparison.

I mean I don't think anyone here is demanding the fairy tale ending. Most people know that in a story like this, in general there's going to be a lot of bad that comes with the good. It's a story of genocide and galactic war. No one is ignoring that. To say we want an ending where Shepard isn't totally screwed over personally is really not that much to ask for. So if all of this is true (I remain somewhat skeptical - I have to) I guess my real question is just....WHY?

You didn't have to defend yourself. And if simple "idiots" over the net get you mad... Let's just say you should step away from the Internet for a bit.

Except that you me and ten other people in this thread are the only ones that pay attention to that, the rest are oblivious to anything not happening to them, or on American Idol/Dancing with the Stars/Other lame ass reality tv.

Hmm, sounds like I should check it out.

Speaking of Stephen King the ending to the film version of The Mist was quite similar in it's gut-wrenchingness. Ahhh, that was wonderful.

SPOILER ALERT

It's impossible to please everyone. You never get to make your own game, you only ever get to choose from the choices given to us, no matter how happy or grim they are.

I'm not hoping for the absolute fairy-tale ending. I still want the death, the destruction, the horror, and the bitterness... but I also want my friends, my squadmates, my lover, and the sweet. Let the relays be destroyed. Let billions of die. But if Shepard lives, I at least want to be standing on Earth with my friends, squadmates, and LI.

Did you miss the point where I'm not yelling?  Just trying to get people to pay attention, stop and think rationally for a minute.
