@gorgoth, correct me if ive read it wrong but are you suggesting a type of borg-like motivation of the reapers/borg-like collectiveness?

Never said my idea was completely original, but yes. The Borg were after perfection which is close to my idea, but it's more of them trying to become fully alive with a little mix arrogance of superiority. A key point in their that is pretty much glossed over is that organics have short lives but evolve and change, where as synthetics live forever but never evolve.

@ Gorgoth, nice post. +10 internets for you.
I've never put too much thought into their motivation, although I always suspected they are the result of a conflict close to that of the Geth vs Quarians. Perhaps after harvesting their creator race, they became what they are now (through something much like you describe, through gaining more of a perspective).

That being said, I think the fact we can speculate about why the Reapers do what they do is what makes them a good enemy. The fact they are an unknown and therefor that somewhat removes any viable limitations as far as we can see...a case of our imagination managing to make them far more monstrous and evil than they may actually be.

Gorgoth illustrates something that has niggled at me since ME2... why was that human reaper so different from the others? If each reaper is a nation wouldn't the dang things look like the species they harvested, ie: each one different? Than I thought about what Major Swift said about Borg-like harvesting. Does anyone remember the Borg looking anything but humanoid? Didn't they harvest all kinds of species? Interesting...

They're probably writing up their own fanfics to match the sheer quality of mine from the last page... Shepard filling out her taxes is deep stuff you know.

Maybe I should torture you guys by actually including that when I get to the end, Shepard spends the rest of her days filling out papers for all of the things she's ever damaged, bought, sold etc.:devil::devil:

Yeah... they never really explained why Shepard was able to walk around the 'jail' on Earth so freely.. I'm guessing it's because they weren't actually in Jail... and that was actually just the bureaucratic offices where Shepard spent the last 3 years filling out the paperwork on all of ME2... figuratively 'in jail'

Wait. That was supposed to be a jail? I could swear it was an office...
Also, they probably shouldn't let kids play right outside of a jail..though I'm sure that one particular kid deserves whatever happens to him

I thought it was Jail.. why would Anderson come there otherwise... what was it supposed to be?  I figured it was like Alliance HQ/Remand Centre or something... Yeah.. if CitadelKid's parents' had taken proper care of them none of this would have happened!

Still here...although...*checks ammo*...I'm out

Downloading the 1.2 patch for TOR. Checking to see if they can salvage the game. Also updating Wargame: European Escalation. You have no idea how hard it is to keep 200 games up-to-date :pinched:

Geez you're crazy! In a good way of course~! ;)

that kind of reminds me of some of the things about the Q (star trek again lol) they live forever not really changing or evolving with great power but they watch humans because they are curious about humans and how they are evolving/changing (Q even says at one point they are moving faster than expected to which picard asks by whos calculations)  they have something the Q don't; mortality, ugh i feel like im just rambling on crazily here, i had more to add but if this doesn't make any sense then i'd better just stop lmao! *blames it on hardly any sleep* :P

That kid, what a puzzle...If he lives on or near a military base (as it seems he does) why would he tell Shepard, "You can't help me"? Wouldn't he be used to uniformed personel? Wouldn't he trust Shepard especially in a situation like that? Such a strange thing to hear from a child.

I honestly can't remeber where I read it but someone had shared a quote a while back about someone in the company saying that the core of each reaper resembles the species that got juiced for it's blender and the squid like ships are the shells. Weak but of all the things that bothered me about ME 3, I can live with that.

If you haven't noticed, no one actually talks to the kid. Actually, no one notices him at all. When he tries to get on the shuttle, no one helps him or reacts to him. It's like...he's not there

I wonder why...

Exactly, no one talks to that kid except Shepard. Then he shows up again at the end...why? Bioware bookends? Bioware must have a reason or had a reason.

I know I am bias, but I like my explanation better then what I was given. When I originally went over the idea in my head I said "damn I have watch to much star trek". In the end I decided that I would get a better explanation then what I came up with, but then I saw that ending.

Shepard's been in contact with Reaper technology since the beginning. Even Liara points out that he/she has remarkably strong will. The Reapers have been trying since Soverign to indoctrinate him and he has resisted. But his mind is weakening. He's getting tired, mentally. By the time he gets to the beam and to the God Child, he's tapped out. He has almost no strength left. It's up to the player to choose the right path with little to no reliable information. Do we believe what we are told or do we do what we set out to do from beginning, regardless of how the options are presented?

It's almost like we've relied on all the clues in the dialog options to choose the best path, using Shepard's strong will as a filter. Once that is stripped away, we, the players, are at the Reapers' mercy.
