The m-1 Garand uses a 30 caliber full metal jacketed round that impacts a target at 100 meters with 4300 some pounds per inch force and has a muzzle velocity of 4500 feet per second. The M-16 on the other hand uses a .227 caliber round and delivers only 2350 pounds per square inch of force on a target at 100 meters. its muzzle velocity is 4400 feet per second..

KotOR II was my second, I never played Jade Empire as it was only on consoles, and I got Mass Effect 1 on recommendation from a friend who later went into the military and was wounded in Afghanistan during an RPG attack on his convoy.
DA:O I got because it was (relatively) cheap and I'd never played a fantasy RPG.
Well, you started on a high note. I think Kotor is the best RPG of all time. Just my opinion, but I've played a lot of games, and Kotor is still the best. It's all about the story, in my humble opinion, and Kotor had the best ever.
Jade Empire was released for the PC too. I just play games on the PC.
I hope your friend got better. And he gave you a great tip.
I had second thoughts about playing ME at first. I heard it was more "action oriented", and I'm not an action player. I liked turn-based rpgs, and played them a lot thoughout my life. But as I played ME, I thought it had all I liked: great story, interaction, characters. And I got used to the action elements in a rpg context. But it has to be story-driven. Otherwise I'm out.
And that's probably why I was so frustrated with ME3's endings. Because they are badly written, to put it simply.

Fix'd.
Though in all honesty, you'd be better off with something in .308 or maybe .338 if you really want to stretch your reach. The .50cal Barrett rifles are really meant for anti-materiel work; they are in fact the modern-day inspiration for the M98 Widow. Planting one of those rounds on someone center mass at about a kilometer distance will literally send that person's limbs and head flying in five different directions, even if they're wearing the best Kevlar suits out there. A better target for your rounds would be the engine block of the technical that's screaming down the road toward your platoon's entrenched line, because in addition to the machine gun in the back, there's gotta be some explosives stashed somewhere.

yeahh, theres this new kid on the block. I think its like a .475 or something like that. Has greater range and accuracy than either of eothers and the onboard computer reads all the winds between the shooter and the target and adjusts for them.. That'll drive prices down a tiny bit..

Agreed on all counts, naturally.
And yes, I know that JE did eventually come out for the PC, but by then I had moved on to other things. Mass Effect for me wasn't so difficult a transition as I also like first-person shooters, even though I generally suck at them when it comes to multiplayer. What impressed my friend the most was the fact that he could overhear a news report, have his character accept that report as a quest and travel to the ship where said quest was going down, and then try to be all angry-gruff with the hostage taker (it was the one where biotic terrorists kidnap Chairman Burns)—and have the intimidation fail and the hostage get blown away. He likes realism, my friend.
As far as I know, he is on disability and finally out of the Army, though he has battled severe PTSD.

You are welcome to join this chat.
And I understand you. I'm replaying old games because of the same reasons. And I think you got it when you talked about trends. All games have to be "darker" and packed with stupid action. The story is a background thing.
You know? When ME2 came out, there was a huge fight in these forums. People were complaining about the lack of RPG elements. But examining it back, I found out that between games, the only people that posted something were those who "just want action; multi-playing shooting and shooting around; more dark games". So, the problem is that the "mature" (or something like it) audience is doing something other than hanging around here all the time. And we just come back when something goes very wrong.
In a sense it's ourt fault that things go south. We don't participate. Not even in polls. Just when things get bad. And then it's too late. And we get styles and trends that we don't like put into games that we like.

Yep. I remember those old console days. The funny thing is: games were so complex to complete, and you spent so much time, that sometimes it was a "family experience". I played with friends around me for weeks. And we all wanted to roam around, strenghten the characters and complete some crazy scenarios. It was very fun.

Geez, seriously? God forbid.
But you're right. Like I said before. These people come out and "suggest" their things all the time. It's not surprising when we get the games, they changed in a direction we don't like, and then we have to read that it was all done by way of "fan response and suggestions". We tend to have something better to do than people who demand "dark stories" all the time around forums.
I would be too old to be an "emo", anyway.

I think what the majority ofthose mature people you mentioned are doing is whatever it takes to pay the bills. Contrary o stereotype, th aveage gamepllayer in the US is 35, lives independently of their parents, is involved in at least one serious relationship, possibly has kids a dog or cat, and social expectations. They dont have a ton of time for forums ( i'm retired. i have an excuse )..
If The mature people were to spend the time needed to be of any notice on these or other forums, they wouldnt have a job to pay for the product. Of course this would imply that the people that BW and other companies are listening too are either unemployed or, children..

Just fell in love with its aesthetics, which is kinda pathetic. Think of all the starving children I could have fed! Ah well, ill feed some Belgians instead I guess.
To tell the truth, when it comes to rifles I cannot hit the broad side of a barn much beyond fifty meters. Of course, save a few runs with a "Clinton-legal" AK-47 and a few models of 9mm and .40 pistols last spring, I haven't shot anything since the old .22LR back in the Scouts, when I was twelve. As it happened, that day was the first time I'd shot a handgun, and yet managed to nick the bull's eye at twenty-five yards with a Kel-Tec .40 that was, in all honesty, too small for me (my pinkie kept floating!).

That or "maturity" with "cursing like a sailor", which was one of the problems with ME2. Couldn't take Aria seriously after her introduction. Not sure if they were trying to make her intimidating or impressive, but she just came across as the school yard bully. And then there was Jack...
