Wells...TOR 1.2 fell on its face. The "customisation" is just the ability to make everything the same color theme as your chest armor. Why the hell do BioWare keep saying things about their games but not delivering? *sigh*

Haven't had to much time to really look at what 1.2 has to offer yet, but I find it funny that you can only "customize" the rest of your gear to match your chest. Why not be able to make it match any color of certain piece of gear you have, what if you don't like the color of your chest armor? Have only really screwed around with the family tree thing...it's interesting, but only really for an RP stand  point, which seems to be what most of 1.2 stuff is...RP goodies and gimmicks. Anyways, sorry for being completely off topic, but I couldn't help but put in my one cent.

Sorry man, but don't worry it happens to most of us. Thread seems to be pretty busy at the moment as well which means a lot of things get skipped over.

Well, I guess the conclusion follows inevitably. Game companies are employing more and more "friends who can write", and less writers. You may think that this is just prejudiced, and anyone who writes is a writer. OK. But what I mean is: do the companies really have people with a solid background on their teams? Writers who studied? People who really read (you can't write if you don't read) a lot? People who don't get a quote from Hobbes on the internet and shove it in the game, although absurdly misplaced as a quote? Less "dudes" who can write and more real writers? And maybe some real intellectuals on the team?

This is food for thought. Especially if you think that games are the type of media that could well be placed between books and movies, in terms of depth of story. Although you can (and do have) have movies with deep stories, they are limited by their own medium, and time restrictions. So, games could very well fill that spot. But companies seem to be running away from that possibility. They are leaving their brief story as a "story-driven" medium behind. And not for the best.

Honestly...I kinda have to scratch my head a bit now that I think about it.

Just WHAT exactly are they doing with this extended cut???

Lemme explain.

They said "This is not a re-immagining of the endings. Nor is it entirely new endings"

Sooooooo...what??? They're touching everything before the beam up to the Ilusive man and the Star Child? Adding an epilogue that explains if we completely ****ed up curing the genophage???

Just what exactly do they expect to solve by putting a bandage everywhere but the injury itself???

Question? how do you have a "custom" avatar? I mean I get kind of sick of the default ones on this site...they really should have an upload option *sigh*

Welll, I really dont mean to sound righteous or anything, but when i was a kid, we had ice cream once a year if we were lucky. Christmas was a shirt or pants or maybe socks. Grampa died when i was four, daddy collapsed and died in front of me when i was eight. Life was different then. Even as a kid, we understood it wasnt something guaranteed, or even entertaining for that matter. We couldnt take the next day, meal, whatever  for granted. It was hard..
And nope, i'm not gonna say it.. But, I think We as parents and grandparents did something wrong in raising our kids. We created the society that craves sadness and loss..  Maybe it was because we were so sick of it we didnt want our kids to ever experience it like we did. I dont really know..

Even if that were true, does it really accomplish anything to try and blame yourself and others like you?

I'm 32, and even so my life was no picnic. Perhaps that is why I don't go for all the ultra-renegade options, because I know what it's like to be in the way of someone else's epic plans for humanity (okay, that's being a little overly dramatic, but you get the idea). To me, that is what is so epic about grand adventures: the ability to journey to far-off lands (or planets) and overcome impossible odds to bring about a resolution that, ideally, provides security and a future to as many folks as possible. That's just my favorite kind of story, as I also like ones where the protagonist starts out as a bad guy and eventually finds redemption in a new purpose for their life (see The Force Unleashed—the novel, not the video game).

Nope nope.. Not blaming myself.. Its only a theory you see.. No proof to support it. I tend to be too much the analyst and philosopher..  Comes from a lot of traveling around using my thumb.. Lots of nights in the high plains and deserts.
And yeahhh, I guess you could say i was something of a f**k up too. I left lots of pain in my wake.. Took me over fifty years to learn how to love and care.. But thats also why these virtual adventures are so appealing too me. Not only is ME3 epic, but it gives me  ( or I thought it would give me ) the chance to do something right for once. I know, pathetic right?? yeah, I'm still a renagade, but now i fight for other people. People with schizophrenia, and other disabling things.  I fight for them to have the opportunity to live as normal of a life as humanly possible.   Odd how that makes me a renagade.

I consider myself a writer and, I'm told, a pretty decent one.

You are absolutely one hundred percent correct that one simply cannot be a writer unless one also reads a lot (by "a lot" I mean at least twice as much as one may write). I would even be so charitable as to say that it's also okay to watch movies and television, if only to get a perspective on how stories are told from those mediums. A story is a story, and as you rightly point out, the only appreciable differences are formatting concerns and constraints upon length.

But when it comes down to actually writing something, I've found in my experience that it takes little formal education. If you did well enough in high school and went to community college for a couple of years, you probably already have the mental tools required to be able to observe and catelogue whatever kinds of stories strike your fancy. The only thing that can prevent an individual bursting with creativity from being able to express their ideas and thus, becoming a writer, is time and effort. Because to truly learn how to craft a story, you have to spend a lot of time gaining practical experience. To do that, you have to write whatever pops into your head, carrying it out to wherever it will go (even if it stops without reaching a conclusion).

For every successful story that has been published, in whatever medium, there are a hundred and three that were abject failures even to their creators.

Laundry is almost dry. What book would you like to see made into a game.I'd go with "Probability Broach"by L.Neil Smith.
