Given how BioWare announced the Extended Cut, I can't imagine much extending being done to the ending. Ten minutes of cutscenes, tops, with some dialogue if we're lucky.

And then everyone who took the game back will just watch the EC DLC on YouTube.

I'm not nearly so pessimistic about the extended cut DLC as to think it'll just be a few cinematics and 10 minutes. Like I said, it all depends on just how long they take. They know ME3 is on its last legs even if they don't want to admit it. You'd have to be blind deaf and dumb to not know that ME3's financial and saleswise failure is all because of this whole ending debacle as much as they might want to publically ignore it, privately I'm sure everyone at Bioware HQ is giving Casey hudson looks, either looks of pity or anger its looks regardless.

So yea, this fix is going to be pretty big. All that really remains to be seen is is the fix is just around the "end mission" as in adding more events and such that let you see your war assets in action and maybe add one or two things to the end sequence itself (in which case it will most likely fail) or B if it'll be, despite their claims, an almost complete overhaul of the end sequence itself with the starchild. I'm sure alot of the writers on the team have been called back, saw the end result and then looked at Casey and mac or whoever's in charge and They're telling the higher ups to let em fix it. They could pull it off as a *surprise* for the fans. like "We said we weren't gonna change it but because we love you so much and we value your opinions here ya go"

So yeah, to me the Extended cut DLC is gonna have alot of effort put into it. They'd be completely crazy to think they could get away with anything less. All that remains to be seen now is if its enough to either make the endings palatable, or if despite they're claims they'll add/reshape the endings completely.

Wow, girls. Calm down. :)

But seriously, I'm still here. And am I alone in thinking that BW should acknowledge our effort? Even if they don't agree with us?

I dont know. Acknowledging our work would just mean all those game magazines that called us cry-babies and self-entitled, were wrong.:?

Of course, BioWare/EA wouldn't want to do that.

I kinda think that may be asking for a little bit much..  After all, they have us to thank for reduced sales and everything thats happened since release ( yeah, I know, its not our fault, but heh, since when is a scapegoat not a scapegoat, and I rarther doubt theycan admit they screwed up even to themselves )..

I agree wholeheartedly with your thoughts. But sadly, I don't really know how they will look into it. I mean: will they step down the altar and try to see this as we've seen it? Will they at least try it? Or will we get some cryptic message and be told to be happy with it?

I don't really know they will try.

Somewhat correct. What's happening is not that Mass Effect is on its last legs, it's that the entire game has/is aging rapidly. It's already for sale at prices in the UK of £25, and was so before a month of release. Many other popular games (Like Modern Warfare 3 and Skyrim) are still holding onto their worth four months after they were releases, keeping their new price at above the £30 margin and in some cases staying on the original RRP.

It's undeniably affecting them, but the worst part is, now no-one wants to buy it until the summer, after the DLC release, and even then they will listen to reviews before putting any money towards it. Bioware betrayed us, and it's came back and bit them on the rump. Even admitting it now won't save them, they need to both remedy it, apologize for it, and then give us complete, unwavering assurance that it will never happen again.

The blind optimist within me is crying out that, hey, they've been lying to us for so long now, that press release could just be another lie intended to mask their shame while they crank out a serious revamp of the ending! We're saved!

And then the rational part of my brain retakes control.

They won't. All of this double speak of

"Some fans"

And

"Vocal minority"

and

Our most passionate players" ect ect is just doublespeak to try and make it seem like a small deal to their investors and shareholders who are most likely buisnessmen who have never played a game in their lives.

They (Bioware) knows that we are not just a small piece of their buying group. That we are infact, a vast overwhelming majority. They are merely trying to make us seem small for the sake of their money holders.

They've already pissed us off by "writing us off" they're not going, at this stage, now that they've weathered the storm, ****** off their shareholders/investors by outwardly appologising/awknoledging that they made a mistake.

This makes me somewhat hopeful for the DLC because it just translates as more doublespeak for me. "We stand by the artistic vision of our writers" could again just be doublespeak to insure whatever shareholders got wind of this that Bioware did not make a mistake and that this is all just some few fans that need to be mollified.

To the share holders if it was a crisis the ending would have to be changed completely. an "Extended cut" is just mollifying a few malcontents. Then IF they release a complete revamp of the endings everyone's fine and dandy and the storm's passed, so the investors will just look back, see the cheering fans, shrug and get on with their merry lives.

I cannot think any buisness could really be arrogant enough or stupid enough to sincerely believe that 60000 people petitioning is just a "vocal minority" especially in the demographic of gamers, who normally just resell a game, **** on a forum, or generally move on with their lives.

If you're ever in doubt, try checking peoples' profiles. The link is their username next to their forum posts. I have my gender listed along with my real name (shocker!), so this shouldn't be such a challenge... ^_^

Oh, and Nhari knows I'm just messin' with her...

Honestly, (branching out from the picture thing)

I know that people use the female pictures because the general consensus is that female voice actresses for DA2 and ME are better than their male counterparts.

But for me DA2's male lead was a better voice actor than the female (I really felt the anger at Anders when the chantry was blown up whereas with the female lead it kinda fell flat)

I will admit that Female Shep has much better voice acting than M.Shep, especially in ME2 since Mark Meer had to read his lines through a phone because he couldn't be in the studio personally.

I'm betting a lot of my private life on it. I mean, there's no sacrifice of private life if you don't belive we will make a difference by coming here every night. And if we don't, they should tell us.

Then again, I have no idea what is best for them as a business. But I'm betting heavily on the virtuous way!!!
