Yeah, maybe you should learn something easier than German.
Like... quantum physics for example.

Really? Genitive problematic? Either I have grasped it well, or I used it wrong all the time back when I could say "I know German" with a straight face.
And I know, genders are tough, especially for the beginners, who make 90% of my course. It's always funny when someone asks the teacher isn't there some sort of rule, and the teacher makes a face and tells the rules... (Which are more confusing IMHO than just memorizing the gender to begin with, other than loanword = usually neutral) and then says that most words break the rules anyhow
People tend to struggle with strong verbs as well. I don't get why, since we are not even required to use imperfect yet. And no one really uses imperfect anyhow, not with perfect being so easy and all
Ah it's actually funny when foreigners mention grammar rules which you never really learned at school.
In colloquial German, perfect is mostly used in the southern part of Germany (yay!) and imperfect in the northern part (not so yay).
Actually had to look up the meaning of strong and weak verbs. You don't really care about that as a native speaker

No but seriously, I have a German fetish. As much as I complain about it, I love it still. The way it sounds, and the fact it is really, really logical when you get 'strong verbs' out of the way. Linguistics studies have helped to open my eyes to the beauty of it, especially what comes to phonetics. Being an English major and all, it really is refreshing to study language that actually is pronounced consistently 99% of the time. The 1% comes from French loanwords. I'll never order french fries in Germany. Ever.
It's just that it's been so long since I last studied it, I have lost "The German mindset". Like looking at haben and going 'yup, that needs an accusative since something owned is clearly the object".

I can live with north/south distinction. I can live with the fact no one really speaks Hochdeutsch we are being taught. I can live with the fact everyone seems to have different ideas about Plattdeutsch. But don't ask me to live with Schweizerdeutsch. I just can't understand it at all, it sounds like Irish and Hebrew were thrown together, and the language that emerged decided to follow loosely German syntaxVahilor wrote...

I loved every bit of it. After that I bought all three games for Xbox360, art books, comic books, etc....
Now........ It hurts.
I never would have imagined that it would bite me in the ***. I wish I could go back in time and warn myself.

I bought my XBox 360 cause of Mass Effect 1, bought all comics, Arts Books and Books as well.... and yes it hurts.. how the game has gone down in the last 10 minutes... and I even more dissapointed by the reactions of BW.. I allways have the feeling in their comments on twitter they still make fun of people.. and their pride and stubbornness make me really sad and p... at the same time.

havent played that one yet but from what I heard its good ..
with regards to the ending i heard that its wired ...
although I played original deus ex . the setting of dystopian future and corporations fighting for dominace with hlaf cyborg agents etc..
There maybe it fits the tone of the game and the setting...
If Deus ex 1 finished like Human Revolution I wouldnt mind ...It would fit..
But not HERE ...NOT ME!! for all the possilbe ending scenarions I envisaged i never ,never thought that game would end in an Anticlimax like that...
I always thought that Bioware has an intelligent team behind them and there is someone there on top who oversees everything and knows when to say NO. This is not how we are going to do this...
I guess I was wrong....

Some good marketing there. I was already going to get DA:O(like any Bioware game except SWTOR), but that was a pretty interesting trailer. I know people got interested in the game because of that video.

It was. And fitting, DAO is a nice game with all the sex and violence the trailer promised. I haven't actually ran into many good dark fantasy games now that I think of it, so in a way DAO really was the new sh*t for me.bitcloudrzr wrote...

On the subject of getting into Mass Effect, I have to confess that I have not been a fan for anywhere near as long as many of you.
It hasn't even been a year, in fact. It was around August last year that I stumbled on to Mass Effect, following the trail of BioWare / Jennifer Hale / friends' recommendations fresh from KotOR (and not even realising that a half-lifelong love of BGII meant I'd been a BW fan longer than I knew) -- started the prologue, exited the Normandy on Eden Prime, got motion sick, and abandoned the game for about a month. Once I found the option to turn off the motion blur I gave it another go and haven't looked back since. It sank its hooks into me so thoroughly that I was excited to learn there was a Mass Effect 3 coming even while waiting for my copy of ME2 to arrive.
Does this put less value on my feelings about the ending to this trilogy over those who've invested years into it? I can't imagine how it feels to have been waiting five years only to see things go out this way. Then again, I'm largely a one-fandom-at-a-time person, and that love of the ME universe was still burning fresh when this ending hit.
I don't know. Sorry for the ramble there. Let's call it Ending Thoughts -- Pink Edition.

I bought ME1 for PC because a friend suggested it, so after her suggestion I went and looked up videos and stuff for it to see if it was my cup of tea. I was a bit put off because it was all aliens and spacey stuff and I'm not into it at all, but when I bought it for PC I really enjoyed it, though I couldn't finish it due to my dislike of PC gaming so I never finished it on PC.
Which is when I asked for an Xbox360 for my Christmas, so me and dad got given it as a joint Christmas prezzie and heck my dad even bought ME1 months before we got the xbox *sigh* then I got ME2 for my prefered console (PS3) and I loved it, then ME3....I loved that too, until the end and I was so bummed out I cried for hours and may have even started to stumble down depression lane (again)
I also wish I could go back in time and not take my friends advice, to say I wish I could slap her would be a mild description lol
