They say that give an infinite amount of monkeys an infinite amount of time and they would write the complete works of shakespeare. I wonder how long it would take an infinite amount of monkeys to break the best game franchise of all time.

Sarcasm does not come across well in text, does it? The article is about the misleading qualities of the quotes, same as we've been complaining about here.

Oh yeah I caught that. I was just saying I was laughing at the add. I mean technically what the add is saying is true... but yeah not in the way it is suggesting.

i see advertizements that are based on partial truths all the time. its soo they can boast about something while not actually lieing. because if they out right lied about a product they could/ would get sued. and lose! . which i think bioware did do ( lie) about their product many times. in pre release campaigns. but i digress. point is you take fact A which tastes great lets say . mix in excitment words B spices and you get =C while it may look great list ingrediants that do make great meals on their own. togather it is still a crappy ending! lol

I don't see EA going away. Tragically, I can see Bioware going the way of Westwood.

*Sighs* I liked westwood - as the next gamer - but Westwood buried themselves long before EA came over and picked the bones clean.  That is the truth.

I don't see BW going that way - EA wants to use the BW brand - I mean they are opening up more studios or moving studios to under the BW umbrella.....

buisness people tend to think about buisdness. while excutives dont. they worry more or less about there own ambitions and there own egos and there own agendas. which tends to conflict with reality often. leaving the excutives out of touch atleast that makes sense.

Haha, I had a feeling Forbes would post something along how I was feeling, actually recommended we email them last night.. this is seriously just stupid on EA's part.  These sort of things have the potential to push someone on the fence into the boycott side.. considering I'm probably one of the more forgiving fans and I'm seriously asking 'what the heck?'.   It makes me not want to buy EA games anymore... it's just dumb... incredibly hilariously dumb.

If we're the vocal minority.... where's the silent majority that should be disagreeing with us because they loved the ending so much?

Moved on and not caring. Like you people should. Its over.

O ye of little faith. Willpower, combined with honesty, defiance and uncompromise, is what wins things. Not moving on. Look at it this way: do you think EA and Bioware won't cave if/when they realise that the numbers they're seeing is not the actual size of those who are against them? Let me give you an example:

In World War II, prior to D-Day, a well-known double agent working for the british consistently supplied false information on non-exsistent training exercises, numbers, and even entire platoons, to the Axis. Right before the D-Day invasion, the Axis became aware that there were plans to attack europe, but were unsure where. The agent supplied them with intel that PLEADED them to place all their forces at one area, which he was adamant was the location of assault. The location given was completely false and vast amounts of troops and armour units were sent out to the wrong place, which resulted in far, far less resistance at Normandy, where they were actually invading. The high-ups of Axis command realised that they were invading at Normandy in force, and began to move re-inforcements there to completely hold them back. Once again, the agent gave them false intel that the Normandy invasion was a cover-up, that the number of units there was minimal and were sent there to distract the Axis forces while platoon after platoon of troops were dropped in at another location. Axis command agreed with his intel, and sent less resistance to Normandy to hold off the "Minor force". This "minor threat" turned out to be far larger than they expected. This was the sole reason that Europe was ever successfully assaulted by the Allies.

Misjudgement of size of a resisting force has caused many, many failures throughout human history. I could list a good post with many of them, the number of times this kind of misjudgement has not changed the outcome of a situation is incredibly less than the number of times that it has resulted in a success instead of a defeat. There's a lot more people against EAware than any can assume, and literally no-one knows the actual number of how many people are against the endings and all the results. It could be 60,000, it could be over 1.6 million. Nobody knows, as it is impossible to calculate yet. We will found out the size of the resistance, and the effect of Bioware's actions, in the future, most likely when future content for ME3 iss released, or when other games are released by either EA or Bioware. We could see that this is in truth, a small movement of 60,000, or it could be as large as some have predicted. Until then though, no-one knows, and anyone who dares try to determine the size of the movement, and all resistance against EAware after this, and then use it as fact or as even as a remotely accurate figure is either increbily overconfident, or is an idiot, or both. Any measurement, even off an unbiased poll, is about as accurate as me bore-sighting a rifle (no adjustment) to use at a target 2 kilometres away.

This thread needs a theme song. I've posted this before, but damn it, I'm gonna post it again. For great justice.

To the tune of David Bowie's "Starman".

Made it to the Catalyst, Illusive Man
Tried to murder Anderson
"Wish you could see it my way, it's so beautiful," he said
Then his creepy eyes did seem to fade
Went up an elevator up in outer space
That weren't Harbinger, just crazy space magic

There's a Starchild in the Citadel
He won't give you no choices
We hope that you won't mind
There's a Starchild in the Citadel
He can't be shot with bullets
But to try is still worthwhile

He told me:
You can now destroy them
You can synthesize them
Or you can control them

I had to pick a color, there was shiny blue
There was also a green and a red one too
He may as well have said "Hey, frak you!"

Shoot at the console we can destroy the galaxy
Synthesize it all, become one entity
Control the Reapers it will be alright

There's a Starchild in the Citadel
He won't give you no choices
We hope that you won't mind
There's a Starchild in the Citadel
He can't be shot with bullets
But to try is still worthwhile

True!

Well, we'll just have to kidnap some EA PR people and you can put them in a house with no doors, yell at them over speakers to "GO MAKE A SANDWICH" and "USE THE TOILET" and "CLEAN UP" and "OH CRAP FIRE PANIC".

It'll be like real life sims!

I think what bothers me most about this is that, despite being well known almost universally for the discontent over the ending, they're basically trying to mislead everyone into thinking it's a great game ending.

If I were the manager for whoever came up with this idea I'd honestly be checking said person's computer logs.  If they're that willing to publicly say the complete opposite of what they know is true, and do it in front of a crowd that knows the truth, what are they doing when I'm not watching them.. it speaks to character, and it's really quite disturbing if this kind of culture is considered morally, ethically and professionally responsible in today's workplace.  I know, at my work, this sort of thing would never pass muster, in fact it would be seen as reflecting poorly on whoever came up with the idea.

Guess it goes to show how far EA's fallen if they accept this sort of thing lying down. :police:

I would rather do that to the Bioware writers and tell them to re-write the ending though...

Personally i think it just goes to show how much we have actually hurt them, it can also be taken as a sign of desperation. That's just my opinion though.

I've had a sudden horrible thought. What if they are trying to get rid of us (us being RPG players)? Certainly games like Dragon Age and Mass Effect are expensive to make (voice actors, writers, programmers and such) and market. If the focus switches to the least common denominator (online MMO ie: The Old Republic) or multiplayer shooter only with a short single player campaigne (ala COD) a company could lay off many people (whole departments in fact) because they are rendered redundant. My 15 year old son says none of his friends even play the single player campaigne in COD or Battlefield, eventually even single player won't be necessary. :crying: Someone shut me up, I'm just feeling bad.

I'd recommend EA actually READ the law next time they decide to make an advertisement.. particularly Section 3. Representations Relating to Products.

I'm not usually tempted to actually file a complaint, but this is so blatantly disrespectful to their customers that I might eventually here :?

Lol, if they wanted to do that they don't need to try, they can just make a game with no rpg elements.

Na they want to tap into that type of gamer - but problem is - those types of gamers also grow into other types; ones that like RPGs - .......

If they end up killing rpg from themselves - mass amount of people will move onto other studios -
