Hey guys haven't been on for a week or so, any new information/news?

Not really. There was a lovely piece of advertising put out the other day (you can find it at the end of the first post in this thread) that upset a lot of people. That's all I can remember.

Wow... that image is absolutely ridiculous. Thanks for bringing me up to speed.

Hi toffeetrooper!

Nilofeliu wrote...

I make your words mine. Couldn't agree more..

Every time we hear "it's free" it just comes to my mind that though we are not spending money on it, the end cost will be a lot higher than if we did..

As it stands, I'd rather pay for the new endings DLC and afterwards be done with Bioware/EA than to get this "extended" DLC which I know beforehand won't address the issues we have complained about, and hear them say "we did what you asked, so you can't complain anymore", which is exactly what they started to do already. Not to mention that I will be done with Bioware either way, so it seems they lost at least one customer for good and only because they refused to acknowledge their mistake and undo it..

/Salute

*salute* Yes, that's it exactly.

I was also one of those willing to pay to see it done properly, or even just to support them in getting it done, but as it is by making it free they now have the balance of power against any further discontent.

It's also kind of irritating when you point out that you're not happy with "clarification" and someone jumps on you saying you must be psychic because no-one knows what's in the DLC yet. No, we don't know the details, but for crying out loud, you can use a little logic to understand that there are some things that just cannot happen if what's there stays there.

"I have a problem with this plot device. It's shoe-horned in at the last minute, creates more questions than it answers with questionable logic, and poses an anti-climax in the battle by letting me win through forcing me to choose an outcome largely divorced from anything leading up to that point and with arbitrary and dark consequences plus an illogical scene or two for good measure."
"All right, so how about we show you more of what happens after the explosions?"

Still holding the line and still vocal about it... EA/Bioware should be sorry if I ever stop doing it because this will be because they lost me. As fan, as customer and as the source of their pay cheque. I know this is forgotten today but: At the very end the shareholders rarely pay your salary... We customers do...

I do not wan't a clarification. I wan't Bioware to do their homework and create some artistically better ending... You know ? No plotholes, no last minute new characters, better writing and stuff ?

That's another thing too. They have yet to apologize, or actually consider that the fans have a point. They're just condescedingly talking down to us, like we're just children who want our candy.

The Extended cut DLC is more of a slap to the face than anything else.

Seriously, what is it about the word "free"?  People tend to lost it when they hear the word (I know I often do). That the extended cut and multiplayer DLC are free, that can be used against the cause. It doesn't begin to adress the actaul issues we have with the ending, but hey "you can't complain if it's free!". They're not trying to reach out to us, that's an attempt to shut us up.

It actually rubs me the wrong way. As if they throw us a bone and then intend to react offended at their insensetive audience that isn't pleased - even though Bioware/EA are so devoted to their fans to give them free content.

In fact I even ignored the Resurgence pack completely, even though I did play in multiplayer prior to that.

I am ignoring Bioware/EA completely. Even games I used to play prior to this situation I refuse to play now. I gave up playing every single I title I own from those two companies and cancelled my 2 SWTOR subscriptions, and I just don't care what new games they release, I don't trust those companies any more and won't buy from them until this entire situation is fixed. And if they don't care enough about their customers to fix this mess they created themselves, I just won't care anough to buy from them ever again.

/Salute

ah...right. I find it hard to beleive you will totally ignore me4, but if you do end up following through with your threat, ..........dont worry there will be another 4 million willing buyers of ME4 when it comes out.

Ill definately be one of  them.

Definitely mmkay.
My stand depends on a) the EC DLC B) the theme, story and premise of the hypothetical ME4.
I'm not going to make any definite decisions about BW and ME-series before I see the EC. A lot is riding on it, at least for me. :?

My opinion is similiar to Atrocity's. It all depends on the actions EA/BW are going to take from here on onwards. It's foolish to say "No I'll never ever buy from them again" because you never know what tomorrow brings.

Personally I don't think it's just the ending that's broken. Large aspects of the game feels rushed and corners cut in the development of it.

Yup, I agree completely. There's a hell of a lot of things where it feels like they gave up and half assed it. But it's the ending that goes the furthest.

There are a lot of aspects of the game that are way too buggy for it to be anything but rushed. I can't quite put my finger on whether it's just certain sloppy character animations that make it look broken or what.. but there are some animations (during conversations) that feel so abruptly cut off that it seems like there was supposed to be more dialogue there and it was cut for whatever reason (they ran out of time, or it was meant to be included in dlc to be sold later).

Anyway, I really should get back to that pile of work on my desk, but I though this might be interesting: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/EA-Laying-Off-Up-1-000-Employees-Due-Over-Spending-Marketing-41450.html

Edit: " alongside all the beef with Mass Effect 3 has resulted in a very dire situation internally at the company, in which we can only hope that they restructure to be more consumer friendly. "

Somehow I doubt EA will change their ways, considering the e-mail that was sent out yesterday.. not what you'd call consumer friendly.

Once more, the Psychics of the BSN emerge! And this one has solid figures.

In all seriousness, buddy, it isn't the goal of the protest to wipe you out because you want to buy ME4. That's OK. Buy it if you want to. Just don't mistake your willingness for a lack of willpower in other people.

Afternoon all! Hope everyone's well! Anyone played the Resurgence multiplayer stuff yet?

To me it seems a bit low that , YES, they release it for free, but the stuff included is pretty cool it will make more people spend REAL MONEY on the Spectre Packs...so they're probably making more money from releasing it for free then they would have by charging for it...IMHO

I spent loads of time getting 99900 credits last night and got a Krogan Soldier which is pretty cool. No Krogan Vanguard, Asari Justicar Adept, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Sentinel, Geth Engineer or Geth Infiltrator though

Yup, various sources mention EA planning to layoff  between 500-1,000 people (but they use just one of those numbers in headlines, though).

And all because EA  were making a lot of insensible business decisions like spending something like 800 million bucks on marketing last year alone. Basically, what we've suspected all along is true, heh. I just hope they don't take Bioware down the drain with them. Not more than they already have, that is.

Meanwhile i got back on playing ME 1. Tell you what- It's the best bloody game of the whole series!!!
I almost forgot it because of the abominataion of an ending- but thank the maker now i am forgetting that misery of an ending instead while i am amazed more and more about the greatness of ME 1 :-)

I still havent played the Multiplayer and i refuse to: I fear they might assume that anyboday who plays at least does not mind the endings. And I dont want to give 'em that message... And ME 1 is way better anyway :D

The last thing that still bugs me is: How could BioWare let something like ME 1 let turn into something like ME 3 :-(

I'd say the story is still great- but as we all know they even managed to break it in the last few minutes...
I dont want to say that i'll never ever buy a BioWare game anymore (if so i could shut down my account NOW- that would show some resolve, wouldnt it :D)- but i wont definatly be a blind pre- orderer anymore as i used to be...

Good point on the money as for mulit honestly? I can't even bother to play or even download it. I don't think I'll even log on to ME3 untill the turn on and turn off event some people are working on. I got better things to do like play Korean made grind games. Least those are fun and you know what your getting on the tin. Well the game I found anyway as it's a PVP one.

Also good night you crazy people.

I thought it would be worthwhile to quote JMS on his response to creating more B5 material and his incredible respect for the fans that helped to make the show what it was. This should be contrasted with how Bioware has treated their own fans-

http://www.scificool...e-of-babylon-5/

"Of late, there have been more discussions from WB about
doing more DVDs, again at a low cost, or a cable thing, again with
minimal investment.
So for the last few months, I’ve been giving this whole subject a lot of quiet thought. And I’ve come to a conclusion.
B5 as a five year story stands beautifully on its own. If anything
else is to be continued from that story, it should be something that
adds to the legacy of B5, rather than subtracts from it.
As well intentioned as Rangers and TLT were, as enticing as it was to
return to those familiar waters, in the end I think they did more to
subtract from the legacy than add to it. I don’t regret having made
them, because I needed to go through that to get to the point where I am
now psychologically, but from where I sit now, I wouldn’t make them
again.
So I’ve let everyone up here know that I’m not interested in doing
any more low-budget DVDs. I’m not interested in doing any low-budget
cable things or small computer games. The only thing I would be
interested in doing regarding Babylon 5 from this point on is a
full-featured, big-budget feature film.
It’s that or nothing.
And if it’s nothing, I’m totally cool with that because the original
story stands on its own just fine. I’m not lobbying for it, I’m not
asking fans to write in about it (nor should you) because such campaigns
never really have much impact…that’s simply the position I’ve taken up
here. Lord knows I don’t lack for other things to do these days. I’m
busier on more prestige projects with terrific people and great
film-makers than at any other time in my career.
At the end of the day, for me, it’s not just a matter of getting more
B5. It’s a matter of getting more *good* B5 that respects what came
before it and doesn’t have to compromise visually or in terms of action.
The original show deserves better than that, the surviving cast members
deserve better than that, and the fans who have supported it over the
years definitely deserve better than that. A lot better.
So I’ve drawn that line in the sand, and I’m happy living on
whichever side of that line the universe puts me. Just thought you
should know, ’cause it’s your show too."

Then here we have a man for the sake of the quality of his creation and to not dishonor the fans, will only do the best that he can do, or nothing.

I have taken it from someone elses thread here on forums but it sums up my thoughts exactly.

That there says it all...
Message for BioWare though - When EA finishes killing itself off, for the love of God, buy yourselves back. You guys are a lot better without the EA overlords.
Also, tell DICE to buy the rights to the Battlefield series...they do great work.
