Parallel being, they knew it was going to suck so they didn't let anyone review it before it hit the airwaves in final release, they just released a few seconds of the funniest moments they had. Of course they didn't let anyone watch it ahead of time so no reviews would get out there saying, this completely sucks don't waste your time. Instead they hyped it up as much as possible trying to draw the biggest initial crowd possible, full well knowing that with a turd on their hands their only chance to make money was before word got out what the show was really like.
I wonder if something similar isn't happening here, they recently clued in that people might be pissed with the endings and as such as just trying to increase the hype while running out the clock, knowing post-release sales might be dragged down as word gets out. It also reminds me of that movie "skyline" I think it was called which was released without letting anyone review it, again hoping to cash in before negative word of mouth got out.
*Here's hoping I'm wrong about the endings.*
