You will make friends, doing hw is going to become an occasional thing unless it is required (and worth points), you will eventually like small parties, though big ones are boring (don't know about NZ, but in the US, frat parties is the thing in college...I hate it though), and you might miss classes...

I thought exactly like you when I came to college. 

But I'm pretty sure school in NZ is different from school in the US, so I might not be that reliable.

Nope, sounds identical to me. I might add also that the higher you go in education the easier. Graduate school is even more of a joke! Wow, I love life.

College is very very different in NZ, it's more like the UK in regards to college.

Edit: My college was made up of  80 hour work weeks, 40 at class, and 40 of homework, mind you I did the equivalent of 4 years of university in 2... my credits even transfer straight over for like 2/3 years of a BSC Comp Sci.... but I really don't need a degree since I know all the languages and have the experience anyway.

Software Programming is a hard major, it's basically learning 4+ new languages (programming in this case) in a short period of time, usually all at once.  Expect to have semi colons in your sleep (and probably interchanging languages accidentally during busy weeks... well worth it though.  Good luck!

Well, college in the US is amazing. Best days of your life. No parents, and no responsibilities because you don't have to pay the bills...if only I could have my 360, then it would be even better...but pretty sure all I would do was play ME or DA all day long and not do work at all...

Good thing ME3 ending made me not want to play any game at all...

Do the dorms at least one year.  You will meet tons of people, some good, some annoying.  But it wil, give you a base of people to work with!

Be sure to enjoy a bit of school outside the classroom!  I did my undergrad in less than 4 years and my masters plus teaching credential in 13 months.  Despite that, I still had a reeeeally good time after class!

Enjoy college!  It will never come again and I am willing to bet a lot of us miss it!  (ummm, look at my gamer tag...)

Greetings from a miserable, soggy Sydney day.

A few hours too late, but could I ask that we please not go too far into the issue of thread "regulars" vs. "non-regulars"? I know there are people whom it's great to see on a regular basis and I'm glad that you make this a good place to hang around, but at the end of it we're all here with a common purpose.

Please try to include everyone who comes in here. Everybody's thoughts and opinions are equally valid regardless of how much time they can spend here.

More on-topic: despite the rain, I'm looking forward to Winter. For the cold, and for the EC, all cross-able appendages crossed. I'm hoping they'll throw a crap-ass failure ending in there. If they can't get the uplifting part right, I'd like to at least be able to see it all go to hell properly.

I've said before the only way bioware could lose its pole position would be if they screwed up big time then defended it. Thus opening the door for conpetitors. Looks like that train might have pulled into the station.
