I liked Amalur, just don't expect anything groundbreaking. But then I did play it straight after I finished FFXII-2 so that may have colored my impressions slightly.[/quote]
Armalur is an EA game.... While I played the demo and liked it well enough, I'm not about to go out and buy yet another EA game, because I personally don't support their business practices, that however doesn't mean that I won't for all time, it just means that until the rectify the situation, I'm not buying their games...

You could rent it. Does not EA place game renters and second-hand buyers in the same league as heart-eating savages?

That's what I'm going to do, I'm gonna buy it from Gamestop, since that's where I get all my console games these days. (Power Up Rewards Pro member) But I'm going to wait for a drop in price, but for now I've got The Witcher 2 awaiting me at Game Stop when I go in today and pick it up~!FreedMason wrote...

I get you're point and I agree that some of the interesting elements from the first game are missing in the follow ons but I have to admit that I really liked Ezio and that's what made the AC2 games for me. But that's what makes it interesting, no two people will ever have exactly the same opinionGroverA125 wrote...
*snip*Still, while the newer games aren't nearly as good in my opinion, I still like them a lot more than Mass Effect 3s ending. They at least stated from the start (of the franchise) that there was going to be a bunch of glowy, omnipotent people, who would make me do very unusual things for little reason and actually explain why the hell I'm strapping myself to a table and living through memories of ancestors. I understand why people like the way the franchise is going, but I'm not too happy with it, still play it, because the everything in the game more than makes up for the "on-rails" style of assassinations, unlike here, where despite the game being good otherwise, it's just not good enough, there's still a few spots that I found should have been addressed a little.

Yeah I know what you mean, I personally like the Info gathering process of 1, but, for the AC2 games I really liked how they did those as well... Personally I can't wait to see how they're going to do the whole process in AC3.Phoenix NL wrote...

It's a thread saying that the EC will be out somewhere around June (the thread quoted it from IBT) it's quite interesting what others are thinking on that thread.. What about you guys here? What's your take in this one?
I think I'm in the 'half hoping to be good-half dreading it will be bad'..
*snip*
..
I see it that way. Even there is someone with good writing skills and even the hole writer staff help to make the ending better, there will be no changes on the ending itself. You will stuck up with the same three options like before. So even you will see you EMS taking part in the battle, get explaination about the plotholes and closure you only can choose between Red, Blue and Green. In my opinion if they don't change the ending, and i mean more then 3 options, they don't need to make a better ending DLC.

Also the whole "illsuion of choice" kind of ties in with that, but is its own thing in its own right. That being that we as players were set up with the idea that we were able to have an actual effect in this epic battle with the Reapers that was coming up. But it turns out that it was indeed futile, because despite all the obstacles you overcame through the actions you took, defeating the reapers in the end was going to take a force greater than yourself. Showing your insignificance in the grand scheme of things by slapping you in the face with 3 solutions that are independant of the choices your game, that don't reflect the morales of the hero herself. Basically that the whole Mass Effect series was one insulting giant troll from Bioware. And that this is supposed to carry a poetic weight that those that are angry about the game will come to appreciate in the future.
This is exactly what they did with DA II. No matter who you sided with Anders blew up the chantry building and you ended up fighting botht the mages and the templars. The only thing your choices affected was what order. They say they wanted to reflect the Hawk was at the center of a vortex of events he/she could not really control. But it was very clear from the rushed schedule and level reuse that they simply did not have the time and resources to do it properly.
There is also a disturbing parallel between the subsequent DLCs and ME3. They wanted to show their fans where they really wanted to go with the series. The stories were good and the level reuse was almost all gone. However, the lack of choice at the end of both DLC showed that they clearly were not able to address that issue in a meaningful way. It was better handled, but the endings were scripted and could not be significantly influenced.

Great my boss recently bought an xbox for his kids and now asked me if I know any game he could play. I told him to play the ME series instantly. Now I'm afraid if he gets to the ending that I might lose my job. Please BW don't disappoint.
The faster he completes the series the worse it'll be for you. It means he liked it more, and will be more disappointed at the end.
But again, if he hasn't played Deus Ex, maybe he'll think the ending is creative. Somehow.

Meh. Gamestop and it's used game policies are part of the reason that paid DLC and other crap exists. And why game companies (for example, EA) are looking to make it so that when you buy a game it is locked to your console so you can never sell it or even bring the disc to your friends house to play there.
The future of Xbox, ladies and gents.
That's BS - used games have been around as long as the gaming industry - its only in the last 5 years that supposed EVIL used gaming market is one of the things that's killing gaming. BS - its crappy games - treating your customers like complete dirt - expect them to keep coming back for more.
Hell if it wasn't for shareware - ID wouldn't be where it was; same for Blizzard and spawning off Diablo and Starcraft. If it wasn't for those factors - Blizzard wouldn't be where it is now period.
Instead of continueing to reward gamers - and actually give gamers what they want so we will hand over our money; We got people like Kotick - who has said he hates gamers period. The real question is; how can you run a giant gaming company/publisher if you hate your customers.
EA's president wants to do a pay per bullet type of payment; this isn't how to treat your customers. This is how to bring about another gaming crash like what happened in 1983.
Its already happening - dumping of crappy games - cheap prices; it will get to the point again; gamers won't buy anything and we will have a crash - I mean business people need to relearn - Greed is not always good - treating your customers right will do more for your business than any amount of ad dollars will.
