It's sad that people have come to praying for joke endings to make a better canon. I'd say that's a sign that Bioware really screwed up somewhere...
how could you not want this to be canon?
I would much prefer this to that actual endings.

Oh boy, the intel probably *is* a Douglas Adams reference.
Well played, Bioware. Well played.
Consdering the endings are DE1 verbatim, that's not far off.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we all spent the next four days wishing for this ending and then it turns out to be even worse? What if it's something dumb like Shepard is actually a reaper. I might snap my game discs in two.

Xio said there was no secret ending for people who already completed the game. WHO IS TELLING THE TRUTH!?!?!?
There is a chance that they both could be - if it was a Day 1 unlock / download maneuver. Maybe all the retail copies, or just the Space Editions, only unlock the better endings (or different endings) when they communicate with Bioware servers and the servers green light the endings.
That's pretty elaborate but here's hoping. If not, be prepared for a backlash the likes of which will be passed down as a "lesson learned" regarding 1) managing customer expectations and 2) prostituting existing product to set the stage for follow-on products. The kind so epic it is used as a business school case study.

I would drop kick mine in a lake near me with the first two games and the books and all the other mass effect stuff I have.

I honestly do no care at all that the endings are so similar, i don't care about anything except the fact that shepard dies in almost all of them, and even if she/he does live her loved ones are gone forever.

So if Kelly died, no fish.
I honestly can't believe that they would create an ending that is only available to those who bought the fish and kept Kelly alive. The intel must just be a silly little easter egg.

I'm kinda in the opposite, I do care that the endings are plagarized from Deus Ex, I don't care that Shepard dies in many of them, I do care that what happens to the surviving crew appears tasteless in what it alludes to.Sashimi_taco wrote...

I'm thinking that Xio is most probably legit but I think he might have not fulfiled all the requirements needed to unlock another ending or something, maybe not enough war asset etc or making different decisions. After all he's using the same (and one only) Shepard for those two playthroughs. And there seems to be a day 1 patch for whatever reason.
We'll see in a few days people!
In FISH I trust.

The guide has a listing of the different possible endings, but it seemed like they were all permutations of the destroy ending. Shepard lives with a readiness level and war assets above x. And somehow saving Anderson (no clue what that's about, must be a previous mission) affects the number of assets needed to have Shepard live. I'll get pics of the chart on Sunday.
