My sister, who is almost 40 by the way, loves Twilight to an obsessive level. She reads all the books and gushes over the sparkly vampire and  werewolf. I don't know their names. She even drags my 13 year old niece to the movie theater to watch all of them, even though my niece hates the movies.

What's funny is my niece says it's the same thing every time she went to the movies. Middle aged women with preteen daughters, and the middle aged mothers were more interested in the movie than all the kids.

Ugh, soccer moms and their unchecked hormones.... Javik would probably throw up if he walked into those theaters.

A Freudian psychologist's paradise then, eh?

This is why I lost faith in humanity. Hope the Reapers get here soon.

Lmao at the suggestion that people are asking for 15,000 different endings. You don't believe that do you? I'm pretty sure people were just expecting them to work the major variables into 16 different endings.... You know, like they said they would.

Not at all, you actually kind of misread my point. I am just attempting to point out that all the decisions create an immensely large number of permutations for an ending to be truely 'the ending we want after all' and that perhaps no ending that would skip over some of those (even whittling the permutations down to 16) would be good enough.

I also said they had swung the pendulum the other way eliminating the choices. I made no distinction as to whether or not they were good to do so. As it stands they really did misrepresent the game in pre-release PR. That we agree on.

No one was expecting a truly personal ending. We don't expect stupid things like whether we helped the Asari Consort to actually effect the ending. I'm talking major stuff. Like the collectors base decision. Or the Quarian/Geth one. Or the Genophage cure. Just something.

But that they couldn't give us anything at all, and that's what's awful. Not a thing mattered. Nothing at all to work with. They half assed it. Just gave up and threw what they had out there. And there's no reason why anyone has to be understanding the crap they gave us.

I think that whether you saved or destroyed the Collector's Base affects which options you have to pick to save earth if your EMS is in the 2000s? Y'know, the endings none of us saw because we all set out to pursue the BEST endings?

Indeed. I'm just trying to cover all my bases here, lol. If I get into how the decisions stopped mattering before the ending, you'd be sitting here for 5 minutes reading me rant about how stupid it was that the Rachni were still alive after I killed them in the first game. So I'll just leave it at "the endings sucked, nothing we did mattered, and this is completely unacceptable".

Y'know, it occurs to me. Bioware employees were talking about how Casey Hudson is so smart, and how he thinks differently, and all this stuff was "implied" in the ending video...

I think that was all just polite-speak code telling us he's bonkers. The ending makes more sense to me that way. ^_^

I fully agree 15000 variables is unrealistic as would a truly personal ending. I'd be happy if they took into account the big decisions even if it lead to less than a half dozen endings. My point was that some players won't be happy with 3, 4, or 16 endings.

Agreed. It was pretty clear that none of the character writers had any say in the ending. From the complete out-of-character Shepard, to the crewmember flashbacks, to the Normandy crash landing, their was no way anyone who wrote the character interactions and stories had any say in how that ended.

I mean, I've spent the last two games romancing Tali, she risked getting sick to be with me, I helped her take back her homeworld, and stopped a war between Geth and Quarians that had been raging for 300 years, and the first person my mind goes to in the flashbacks is Joker? Then Anderson, who I just saw like 5 minutes ago, and is already dead. And Liara? Yeah we were friends, but where is my bro Garrus? And no Tali whatsoever.

Then the Normandy crash lands, and Joker, Ashley and Javik walk out.... Yes, they were the ones I was most concerned about, thank you Bioware for showing me those 3 survived the crash.

It's like others have said: a highly-creative person, if not held in check by people more grounded in reality, will inevitably spiral off into realms illogical and unfathomable to anyone but themselves. Just look at such examples as Richard Garriott and Peter Molyneux...

Actually, speaking for myself as a writer, I've had that happen to me as well. My most recent fan fiction novel was a bit of a departure from my usual quality because I didn't have some reality-based backup in the form of a good editor. While it wasn't as much of a Charlie Foxtrot as the ME3 ending turned out to be, it was still lacking in quite a few areas that I will eventually get around to fixing.

People seemed perfectly happy when The Witcher 2 gave them 16 endings.

Sure not absolutely everyone will get exactly what they want, but not everyone would be pissed of like they are now. To say that they couldn't please everyone, so they shouldn't try to please anyone... It's just another cop out.

You're young yet, you'll meet the right person eventually. And I know this from experience, because when I was your age (I'm guessing you're about 19-21) I was convinced that I'd never be "normal" enough to attract a woman let alone someone who would be willing to get into a relationship with me.

Of course, I finally did find the perfect match at age 31 (last year), and frankly, all that waiting was 100% worth it.

While I agree with the bolded part, as that is life.  However, what I'm looking for isn't my own personal ending, I just want something that falls into the lore of the game, takes into account the major choices I spent time agonizing over, and how I played the game as Commander Shepard.  The biggest issues I have with the ending of Mass Effect 3 is that it completely does away with all the background and lore that was built up for the game and reinforced in the games prior to the ending of Mass Effect 3.  The Reapers went from being these horrible creatures we could never even begin to understand to being the epitimy of circular logic.  The Citadel went from being a trap that we had broken, to being the controller of the Reapers.  In the end Commander Shepard just gave up and said 'ok whatever you say' to the star demon.  I don't know about your Commander Shepard but mine never gave up on anything.

Now I can only speak for myself here, but I have talked to enough people around here to believe this would be satisfactory to a lot of us.  I fully understand that you can please some of the people some of the time and the rest of the people at other times, but you can never please all the people all the time.  We just want what we were told by the development team of this game and by the Executive Producer of this game we were going to get.  Which if I remember the interview correctly was a multitude of endings ranging from the Reapers win to happily ever after and everything in between.  We got none of that from what I can tell having played the game twice now.

HAH, like Harley would say: Joke's on you, I'm not even a real blonde!
In other words 22 this summer.

"n English, Scandinavia usually refers to Denmark, Norway and Sweden [3][6][7] Some experts argue for the inclusion of Finland and Iceland,[8][9][10] though that broader region is usually known by the countries concerned as Norden, or the Nordic countries.[4]" - Wikipedia
