Perfect, so you agree with me that the galaxy isn't ****ed forever. There will be growth, it will be hard but now the galatic comunnity can grow on its own achievments, they might make new relays or discover new methods of fast travel. How is that a bad ending? Imo its a really good one, i prefer independence and self determination over being slaves of alien technology (just like Liara's father, the wisest asari ever):wizard:

Independent advancement is going to be PRETTY hard without the ability to quickly travel to other star systems.

"Slave to alien technology"? What? Do you know how common it is today for someone to use a product or appliance made from a foreign country? Just because you're using something made from someone else doesn't mean you can't think for yourself, it just means that someone else beat you to it. Only an idiot would try to beat themselves up by ignoring beneficial technologies developed by another race/species.

ever hear of FTL? in ME2 you can go to nearby systems by using normal fuel. A guy here in the forums said you can cross the entire galaxy in 27 years of flying, its really hard but its NOT the end of space travel.

The end of mass relays is like the end of Airplanes would be for us. Things would become very dificult, but now there is hope for independent growth and inovation. No more dependant on reapers or protean tech to improve our lives, now WE need to work harder for a better future :police:

I said "travelling quickly to other star systems". You know, what you use the relays for.

I'll believe what someone else says on the internet when they actually do it.

The whole journey not the destination makes sense for real life, but in a game you want a satisfying ending otherwise the replay value might be gone. At least for me.

THANK YOU MASS!

NOTE TO BIOWARE: If you are looking for a good metric to gauge how much people are still into ME after the newness of ME3 dies down, might I recommend monitoring the number of people who do playthroughs of the previous games.  NOT just ME3, but rather ME and ME2.  Point being, if people feel like they are truly in the "driver's seat" as one once called it, you will see a lot of people going back through the whole thing - either trying something new, or just because it's such an awesome progression.  But if people feel as if they've been ripped off or lied to and really they're just a backseat driver picking which squaddie they want along and other cosmetic stuff, people will be like "what's the point" and you'll see the number of people playing ME and ME2 drop off a cliff.  Free advice, normally I charge for it.

Thanks for the link, but i still want all the character development and stuff to be a suprise. All i know is that raphael sarbage said that the line "marry me, shepard" was in the game and that garrus said he wanted to retire on a warm tropical planet. Thats all i need to know to be happy with the character subplots lol.

I haven't been able to do that mission without laughing hysterically since a good friend of mine was doing that mission the first time while on voice chat, and right when he hit the ending I started blasting "Pimpin Ain't Easy" over the mic.

I'm a terrible human being.

Wow, we are getting depressed over a video game now? And I thought people got depressed only when they lose their job or their home.

All in all this is like arguing with a brick wall. The people who think that all we want are rainbows and unicorns are not going to be convinced that we should get the ending we want when they already have the ending they want.

For the record I am quite happy if my Shepard dies, as long as Kaidan is at her side when she does, not ship wrecked on some distant planet.

Yea I already made 8 Shepards for mass effect 1 and only one beaten. Why would I go back play the other 7?

Great post.  Also, people seem to forget that the protheans built the conduit, which is a mass relay.  If the protheans built one, I'm sure other races will figure it out too.

... okay cancelling pre-order until I figure out what's going on.

I am way too emotionally invested in the characters and the story for this.

If I can't even work towards my sunshine and lollipops ending I'm seriously not willing to go through this.

If there was going to be a ME4 and this is just what I have to deal with until we get there, I'd be fine because my sunshine and lollipops are still in the distance -- instead I reach the end and all I find are things I don't want.

There is no point in playing a game -- a VIDEO GAME -- where nothing approximating what I want is a possibility.

I've heard that the squadmates who are with you in the final battle do not appear in the ending cutscene with Joker on the unknown planet. That implies that they stay on Earth.

Joker gets spaced no matter what, though.

I wouldn't cancel it because of. Just play it once and if your upset, just ignore it and pretend the ending was a Deus ex "To be continued"

Please define your sunshine and lollipop ending because this make most people believe that what's all the people that the want a different ending seem like everyone wants everyone to live, even though its not possible.

In relation to the original post: I don't mind a subpar ending as long as I see effort. I do, however, mind a lazy ending that's largely made up of copy/pasted assets after a game allows, even boasts about, wildly divergent options and decisions throughout its storyline.

Magnify that by this ending not only being at the game's end, but at a trilogy's end.

I'm seriously playing through three games to see this one ending? (With slight variations. Slight variations of one ending aren't different endings.) Mass Effect 2 set the lazy-bar low enough to be within tripping-range. ("oh, one ending but they'll be visible/invisible depending on if they died") Mass Effect 3, the absolute endpoint of a character that's been at the center of a multi-million-selling trilogy barely manages to apply a last-second decision to the ending-- let alone any decisions you made along the way.

In other words, Bioware simply couldn't do what they set out to accomplish.

That's a good point actually, if you romanced an ME2 character that didn't die who is now fighting on earth, wouldn't technically if Shepard survives, that be a headcanon happy ending at least for your LI, absolutely sucks for the Normandy crew. Might explain why they don't show the ME2 LI in the flashback.

Except that none of these foreign technologies are actually death traps set by ancient evil machines lol

This entire bull**** (ME series lol) started BECAUSE of the mass relays, if we didnt found any of them we would all be fine and happy on our own. It was the fact that we got dependand on alien tech instead of finding our ways ( something that Liara's dad realised) that made us vulnerable to the reapers...

And this is why the relays NEED to go, otherwise we wont ever learn anything

Alright. So I say we should get rid of planes and boats. Because with them, our countries will never learn anything by themselves.
