I just spent almost 2 days downloading the Witcher 1 off of Steam, and now after it finished with all 15 GB, it won't get past the set up screen. I pick a mode, and start my new game, and the thing always crashes. Also, why the hell is a 5 year old game 15 GB? Lol.

Wamp wamp wamp....

Hope you can get it to work though

Chmarr, let's not just go throwing insults around. Also you know that for them to make something decent would take longer than 2 weeks. The fact that they are doing anything at all is proof that they do care about the opinions of their fans. Let's see what the dlc brings and then make judgements.

I'd rather they take 3 months than 2 weeks. If they shoved out the EC in 2 weeks, it would be like 5 minutes of cutscenes with no extra dialogue. If they take 3 months, then that means at least they have the time to spend doing it right this time around. Getting VA's back in the studio, getting the scenes done properly, and more of them.

They shouldn't be pulling triple shifts to get it done, that makes the work sloppy.

I'm still shocked we didn't get a decision making process like the end of ME-2. I just can't believe that wasn't on the table for ME-3.

You know what would have been a perfect ending, game mechanic-wise, for me? The unholy matrimony of ME2 end-fight and DAO end-fight. To be able to choose at what point all your war assets come into play, like in ME2, and have them the on the map, like in DAO, like krogan dinosaur cavalry taking down those 3 last banshees when you have to protect that vehicle with the missiles.

THAT would've been epic.

Well that sounds a little convoluted. But I mean, the way the war assets are setup, even in the code, they specify whether the assset is a fleet or a ground asset. To me, any non-fleet/ground/artillery asset number should be set aside as a BASE war asset number. The fleet, ground and artillery war assets could then be delegated by the player. If you delegated properly, lets say.....80% of the asset number gets added to the BASE war asset number. If you delegate wrong, let's say 50% of the asset number goes back or even worse, 30%, whatever. Then that total number is used to determine if the Crucible fires properly or not.

And I know the devs were running out of time but I'm not even mentioning the idea of SEEING your individual war assets appearing. I'm talking about pure math and code.

Now that would have been the appropriately epic end to Shepard's story!

I would've been perfectly happy with that too. But in a perfect world there would've been dinosaur cavalry on my screen :P

I restarted everything twice, and now it turns out it needs another 1 GB update to download to finish... Wtf? lol. It's weird, given that the game started up, and the opening start screen cinematic completely played out already. But seriously... Another GB beyond the 15.5 it already needed? Why is this game 16.5 GB? It just demolished my hard drive space and my took a huge bite out of ISP's data cap allowance at the same time. It had better be worth it. Someone please tell me it is, lol.

Seriously? Even the... not so very acceptable version is less if I'm not mistaken.
And even ME3 was only 10GB or so. But since Witcher takes up more space, maybe it has a decent ending :P

Reminds me of the time I used to play wow, and would spend 2 days downloading a patch on really crappy internet :P. Thank god I am past that now

Thats Steam, not the game. Had the same issue with the original Mount & Blade (which I grabbed over the weekend with the new Warband DLC), and with the Shogun II Expansion I downloaded at the same time. For some reason, Steam doesn't seem to be downloading the entire game and always leaves a portion behind that you need to restart Steam to find out about.
After you finish the extra download, it should work fine (did for all 3 of my issues. DLC, M&B and Shogun II).

Edit- Also, yes, def worth it. That game will give you a LONG time of gameplay. You can easily drag it out for 40+hrs, esp if you go around doing side quests and extra hunts (for which there are a few).

@ Computim

Agree that maybe is not the best time to start an offensive but I personally will not accept the Citadel Kid and 3 colour choices as an ending to a trilogy no matter what they do. I've been told by a few ppl not to jump to conclusions but to remain positive and wait and see till the DLC is actually released and that's what I'm doing even tho it's becoming increasingly more difficult to remain positive.

Agreed. This is exactly how I feel. Given the small bit of information that we have, skepticism is only healthy. That's because the likelihood of true change seems near absent. I know there are some people that believe that the game can still work with the star kid, but it really can't.

If there's a way they implement avoiding the 3 colours and taking a different path, than yes it could work. But that only does because you're ignoring the existense of the Star Child and his ultimatum. So in essense, he's not really a part of the game anyways.

But for them to do this is highly unlikely and if the Star kid and his forced choices remain, than absolutely nothing has changed. They could add a line of dialogue, or a bunch of cutscenes (whatever the hell they may be) to differentiate the choices, but it's still the exact same crap. Nothing changes, and nothing is fixed. Under no circumstance would this possibilty be acceptable by my standards, and no I don't think I'm asking for much at all if we're looking at a true DLC.

But the high likelihood of this latter possibilty is why my hope remains low. Do I think it's fair to simply trust Bioware could not mess this up further... no, not really. It seems like they've been hard at work over the last year and a bit to ensure they've lost that trust. But I have no choice but to wait at this point, though.

Well it's good to know that the game will at least work in the end. Because I already experienced failure this weekend in trying to get the Diablo III Beta to work after I finished downloading the whole thing. Blizzard's stupid server problems, lol.

the EC is JUST CUT SCENES the voice actors are back for other single player DLC..

the extra shiznit is to expand on how depressingly bad the ending already is, remember were "entitled whiners" and they have there "artistic integity" to stick to and they have clarified that even tho some of there staff MIGHT be getting fired (remember EA is shedding jobs in the candian offices which includes bioware).

and after all this is over i sense EA will fire some of the staff who was behind the ending fluster cuck, think about it, would you want someone that makes a HUGE mistake in a game that in a sense forces a company to give premium dlc away for free as part of compensation

They haven't confirmed that it is only going to include new cut scenes. When someone tweeted Mike Gamble saying that they weren't going to be bringing the VAs back he replied saying that this person had heard wrong. I now it's frustrating but can we please not make too many assumtions without facts.

Cut scenes actually take a lot of time, they have to use the game engine and setup scripts for the characters, animation, voice sync, and much more, while a cut scene might look simple while viewing it, it's rather complex, more complex than a movie scene in fact, for a movie scene the director can speak directly with the actors giving them directions, for game cutscenes scripts need to be setup in order for things to flow smoothly.

But we don't know any of that. It might be the case, it might not. I can understand your passion and frustration, but I really think you should wait until seeing what the EC actually is. If it is horrid, you have every right to be angry and vent, but that's the thing, you really should wait until knowing whether it is bad.

I hope EA/Bioware throws us a bone sometime. All I want is just some bullet-point statement stating what they are addressing, and leave at that. Right now, it is a media black-out, and it is making it easier for me to abandon Mass Effect as a series.<_<

Well, they need something to say first before risking getting boiled in oil, throwing a bone to a bunch of hungry ravenous dogs might not be the best idea, no meat makes you the next target(ouch, overdone the metaphors), I'd certainly be wary about the things I say with the current climate.

And we don't know what kind of cutscenes they are making. It could be pre-rendered space battles, which I'm sure some of them will be. but they can be in-game cutscenes as well, where 90% of the dialogue takes place. I'm not saying I'm 100% positive that they will have more dialogue, but giving them a 3+ month window there's more chance of it than a 2 week window.

That is true, however, just a few quick statements mentioning when a release announcement is made, or something. I am not expecting a full Wiki page of details, just some time slot to anticipate. As it stands, it feels like they still are not listening to us, like that ridiculous advertisement campaign that angered fans about a week ago.
