I just got my Tv screen back after lending it for a week and now I realise it will always be the tv that I witnessed the original ending to mass effect 3 on... It made me think about my reaction to the ending again.
Ok, March the 12th 2012... Just starting my run towards the conduit... Had minutes before been blissfully ignoring all the crewmates warnings about the **** being about to hit the fan, we are all going to die ect (I mean it was all misdirection in me2 right?). Had avoided all spoilers for the game, skimmed several "reliable" review sites, to justify my first pre order of a game ever... Did read the forums at the start of the month I think, but all I saw was complaints that previous choices like crew member or character deaths were nullified by the introduction of replacements that fulfilled the same role, I.e Mordin and Wrexs replacements, but that did not really bother me because I had made the "best" choices in the previous game right? Anyway the usual story of everything that came before being great apart from the stupid quest log.
Anyway running towards the conduit here is what I recall saying...
Me: Come on run you fat bastard! go go!.....
Me: ****...
(Shepard is hit by beam)
(I nearly jump out my chair when his glitchy pistol goes off during the cut scene of him getting up)
(shoot husks)
(Fail to kill marauder shields on veteran difficulty... yeah I know...)
(works out on reload of save that pistol thing is a glitch...)
(finaly kills marauder shields)
(looks around for squad)
(thinks about decision to bring favorite characters along for last mission...)
(goes into beam)
(well this is wierd, how did Anderson get ahead of me?)
(confrontation with illusive man)
(fails to renegade interupt TIM and dies)
(Trys again and shoots his evilness)
(conversation with Anderson... well this is nice at least...)
(sees shepard bleeding chest)
Me: The're not going to kill him are they?
Me: Push the ****ing button you idiot! Push it!
Me: what is he going to ****ing heaven now?
Me: What the ****? Two horrible choices? No argument with this stupid little...? (did do any multiplayer...)
(Oh, I don't want the geth to die I better do control...)
(watches shepard fry like bug on zapper...)
Me:............................................
(watches confusing cutscenes)
Me; Ok and wake up/ be picked out of rubble nnnnnnnow? nnnnnnnnnnnnnnow? nnnnnnnnnnow?
Me: why is joker flying away?
Me: (at least my squad are apparently not dead... but what about everyone else?)
(credits? that's it?)
(stargazer)
Me: its all a ****ing story told by some old git?
(Opens laptop lid and goes to bsn...)
(sees this thread and main Indoc theory thread...)
Me; well at least its not just me...
(reads some stuff and reloads to earlier save to try destroy ending)
(plays out destroy ending but barely watching what is happening due to being so engrossed by everyone's horror on BSN)
Well that was fun to get off my chest lol

So the hours I spent reading codex's, reading the planet descriptions, talking to every NPC over the course of 3 games. The first time I played ME1, it was almost 100 hours. And then they end it all with a mirror and a, You decide" mentality?
Imagine if you're watching the LOTR movies, and at the very end, right when everything is at it's worst, and the ring is melting in the lava, it ends. You don't know if Aragorn and the other survived. Frodo and Sam are stuck in an active volcano. As far as you know, everyone just died.
Can you imagine if they came out and were like, we wanted you guys to make up your own ending.
The "leave it to your interpretation" explanation is a cop out. They either ran out of time, money, or they were on lsd, (which would actually account for the colorful explosions.) What a lame ass excuse. Quoting Wrex quoting that asari, 'Better luck next time."

If there was 100% certainty that there would be no new mass effect content ever... ever... then I could just about come up with my own ending, but thats not going to happen, so whats the point of having an interpretation if it could potentialy be shot down anyway?

By Hacket's laundry? I'm a bit sceptical whether they ever intended to make any post-ending content before we let them know we don't like the ending... And anything happening before the ending can't really destroy the ending and interpretation. And not just because it is impossible to make ending any worse than it already is.BigglesFlysAgain wrote...

If they weren't trying to set up ME4 with the ending then I don't know what the hell the plan was and why the hell they're all the same. The only reason that I ca see was so that they could make a sequel without having to take the promised 16 endings into account by virtue of the fact that all the endings have the same effect on the galaxy i.e. Reapers gone, Relays destroyed, Normandy crashed, Sheperd dead and the Citadel gone. Even with the green or blue space magic I can't see the Reapers hanging about. I mean, if they had done the varied endings they said they would the variables into the next game would be on a whole other scale on the variables going into ME3.

If I may chip in, personally I just read Minty's threads to see how he/she manages to twist anything to fit the theme of his/her thread. If nothing else he/she is DAMN good at it! That and phrasing things in such a way that it could get a rise from the Pope...
EDIT: Also surely a chess set in the gift shop would be apt given Minty's love of the game?

Though it could be a delibirate choice, reflecting what he thinks will be in the DLC. Since the description was so vague I could probably say it's actually a trade contract with a straight face.Phoenix NL wrote...

Furthermore, I think with all this controversy surrounding Bioware and
the Mass Effect series, this should make gamers want to play the game
more. For those gamers who had no interest in the series, they are now
asking themselves, what is it about this game that is making everyone so
bent out of shape?

They still might change the endings and do it by saying the EC opened new "story opportunties". I seen it used before by other TPTB wishing to avoid the appearance of caving before fan pressure.
