It's hard to say, only because I told that the ending was supposed to be poor before I got there, and my expectations were tempered. But beforehand, I guess I would say I assumed there was only going to be one way to defeat the reapers, except with variable ways to get there depending on the assets I had. Losing friends and allies along the way. And depending with what I had left, that this would determine whether or not I would succeed, or whether I would die, and such things. And then after this, be shown how my decisions played out in the future of the galaxy.evisneffo wrote...

OK guys, serious question time:
How did you feel about the fact that you had to choose the ending of your game? Putting aside what the choices actually were, would you have preferred choosing between a set number of conceptually different outcomes with perhaps minor variations on each depending on your strength/game choices (kind of like what we have now), or a 'main' non-chosen ending with a larger number of variables depending on game choices (more like the suicide mission)? Which did you expect?
I just want a choice that would be realistic for paragon shepard to make... Sure Renegade Shepard would be like "Oh yeah.. destroy the geth? Save Earth? Done." Paragon Shepard just sacrificed Mordin to save the Krogan, he told the Salarians exactly where to put their support if it meant lying to the Krogan. He sacrificed Legion to save the Fleet AND the Geth. He ended a centuries old conflict between them, brought peace, but immediately had them HELPING each other.. The LAST thing he's going to do is be like "Oh yeah... well since I've only got three choices here.." Up until then he'd had instances where he said "Yeah I choose Option D" when it was a choice between two different species..
He WOULDN'T commit genocide if he didn't have to, especially against an innocent race. Destroying the Reapers and killing the geth just wouldn't even factor in... Paragon Shepard would rather sacrifice humanity to save another race... he basically DID when he chose to help the council fleet rather than hold back the human fleet in ME1. There are so many instances of him already MAKING the choice in the end of ME3 that it just doesn't make sense to blindly accept it and it's WHY so many people hate the ending there. Sure Synthesis is a kind of ending.. but part of what makes humanity HUMAN is our individual free will, sense of purpose, and individuality... something completely lost in synthesis.... especially since we'd all pretty much be our own wifi hotspots like the Geth.
I don't care WHAT my choices are, just so long as they make sense... It'd be like going to war in WWII and having the choice of weapons be 2 different types of fruit and a device that turned everyone into part Hitler... I'm pretty sure I know at least a few million people who would rather die than choose that option.

That was me, thanks. I remember reading that one when it was first posted, and not knowing what it exactly meant. I'm reading it again, and I'm still not entirely sure. It's very ambiguous. It still sounds like a simple attempt to get us to not sell our games.MeldarthX wrote...

No he said straight up they've been working on it since before the game went gold - most people missed the tweet I think from Mike or Casey that folks working on ME3 still haven't had a vacation/holiday since finishing the game - which is unheard of.........
Normally finish the game - game goes gold - those working on it get about 2-3 weeks off - BW hasn't had one.......why is that.....
because they've been working on the truth

Again, I simply wish I showed the same optimism that you do. I don't think it's happening. But we're stuck in a wait and see situation regardless of whatever we think they might do.MeldarthX wrote...

I agree with you that it is a major problem. But the ending and I think the game itself is broken beyond the simpicity of it presenting 3 stupid choices. You can't slightly alter them, and repair the Shepard's character assassination that you mentioned. There's so much wrong here.Computim wrote...

If they outright removed the 3 choices, that would help a lot. But that's not going to happen.

2-3 weeks nothing haha. Bungie disappeared save a skeleton patch crew for like 8 weeks+ haha.
I didn't see the tweet about before it went gold. I remember someone upset they didnt' get to make an april fools joke and the stuff about "If you knew what we know you wouldn't throw out your games"

this doesn't sound promising. So completely going against Shepard's character and siding with the Illusive Man after fighting him for 30 hours, or changing every individual's dna against their will is better than destroy to him.

Goddamit. Somethings wrong when a majority of the fan base is so sure that they understand the strory of Mass Effect better than the people in charge of making it. I'm one of those people that believes this. Whenever they say things like this, it reminds me of how far removed the ending is from the rest of the game, and how far the developers are removed from the fans.
They're really trying to double up on how they believe synthesis achieves what Shepard wants, without actually explaining why. If the Extended DLC exists to serve this purpose (of explaining why)... God. I just really hope they know they're doing the opposite of what the fans want here.

Alluded to - which means imply.........in that screen - show's earlier Tweet Mike says
Hardest. Day. Ever. Seriously, if you people
knew all the stuff we are planning...you'd, we'll - hold onto your copy
of me3 forever. March 9th -
Mike's hinted from the very beginning - pretty much very beginning........BW can't come out and say this was all planned - but it was......
