No he isn't... I'm still confused, how can he see a self admitted Deux Ex Machina as a good ending...

I've noticed that the older (conservative) people liked the ending. I will try to explain why.

They lived in different time and they are somehow (to put it simple) out of ideas. That's why they accept what is given to them. And to them the synthesis is the best solution because they are not spiritually evolved enough to search for better ways to resolve the given conflict.  That's why they see it as something clever and they admire the ending (yeah most of them liked the illogical synthesis ending). On the other hand the younger audience (you know the next generation is more evolved that the previous) can come up with more ideas. (A big example of what I'm talking about is the fan-made alternative ending on deviantart) That's what evolution is all about. it's about questioning the solution that is given to you and finding something better. This is something you can see in the matrix. This is why every new cycle is different (consciousness is evolving - reason for the starshild giving you choices as well as the architect in the Matrix).  That is something that the writers in ME3 and even the matrix's writers doesn't understand completely, but they are trying to say it.

I don't know if you can understand me and I apologize for that.  I know It's comlicated. I will try to make a very detailed post soon and I will try to explain it better.

No no, Astralify, I understood your point quite clearly. It's rational and well-thought out, and I happen to agree with it. Though I'm 32, I don't consider myself part of the more conservative generation, and as a writer I'm often brimming with ideas (whether or not they're of any use is debatable).

May have something to do with the fact that the occupants of the thread are from all over the world.

Greetings and salutations earth clan. Whats been happening with you guys/gals?

I wanted to check in yesterday but couldn't pull myself away from Prototype 2 (360) and Journey(PS3).

One for my violent side and the other where peace and serenity reside.

BTW thanks for the recommend for the latter game. It brings a peace in me that feels good.

It's just an expression used online to refer to our lives outside of the internet.

Well there are always exceptions, and I should've put that in my post, but i thought it was kinda obvious. I was simply generalising  and I apologize if I have offended you.

btw as a writer you can understand that after some time you kinda run out of ideas. And not just writers. In any artist's life comes a moment when they are simply out of ideas. Maybe that's what happened with BioWare...

You didn't offend me at all; that was just a poor choice of phrase on my part.

In my experience everyone, young or old, has the potential for ideas great and small (as well as terrible). My muse can be a flighty temptress, infusing me with a really great idea for a novel-length story but abandoning me when it comes to some of the most basic details. And I can also come up with some real doozies that would confuse just about anybody and yet make ironclad sense to me—and that's where the need for an editor, grounded in reality and unafraid to pull one's head out of the clouds, comes into play.

I and others have said it before: it seems that Hudson and Walters suffered from this when it came to the ending..

He played all 3 games. He's also read the books, spent $300+ on ME stuff, and conciders it the greatest game trilogy of our time...

-The plot holes are far too great to not notice (missing fleets and armies that you gathered, squadmates magically going to the ship and so on).

-Instant evolution (which is just genetic engineering) is possible, but mixing synthetic (computers/mechanic) with organic via an energy blast is impossible.

-Time does have meaning when the star child talks to you, otherwise you wouldnt have that time limit before Harby destroyers the device, nor would the war outside still be raging.

Although I am happy that your friend likes it, again, they seem to be in denial in the most classic of forms. Either a) they refuse to accept what they saw or B) they refuse to accept that BioWare f'ed up. Either way, the arguments are invalid and as full of holes as the ending of ME3.

We think alike. I agree with everything you said.

And about Hudson and Walters they could have consulted with the other writers from the team (despite the ending the rest of the ME3 was very well written).  There is no excuse for them. Actualy this is something I cannot understand completely.  In situations like this your ego is your biggest enemy.

this doesn't sound promising. So completely going against Shepard's character and siding with the Illusive Man after fighting him for 30 hours, or changing every individual's dna against their will is better than destroy to him.

What the @#*$?   This is BUL*SH!T! Synthesis goes against  EVERYTHING! And it's the most stupid thing ever... Oh god...

Coffee still trying to kick in, morning/afternoon/evening to all.
It's an opinion, some people do actually believe that the mergin of organic and machine is the ultimate evolution, the singularity, and maybe that is true, but it should be decided by evolution not by one wo/man.
If we take things on face value then I would still personally choose destroy, I would rather take out an entire synthetic race than impose my will upon an entire galaxy.

I'm normally not one to make mountains out of molehills, but still...

Oh, and could you please add this to the list of videos? One of her lyrics is "Hold the line till the end/Because we will give them hell":
