And it would have make total sens if the dark enery ending was still here.
In the dark energy ending, it seems reapers turned as reapers to solve a problem that threaten the universe, the dark energy.

What ME2 tell us ? the collector are intrested in species, corps, that present rare genetic abnormality or mutation.
What harginger tell us ? they are the harvester of our perfection.
At that stage, genetic and human potential are the core of the reason about why they are targeted and harvested.
The collector plague on omega is made so it let survive human only.

It seem that the reapers, in the dark energy ending, though that a human reapers could be the key to solve the problem of dark energy.
It could justify WHY they let the citadel and mass relays, so organics develop faster along the way reapers need for their agenda, because if reapers wanted to protect organic life from building synthetic, the would never let the relay as it is, because it would make the organic evolution a lot slower if cutted from other sentient race and their technologie.

So in that sens, Legion is right, reapers is more our future as organic.

The whole concept of "organic vs synthetic" is the cause of the existance of the cycle and it deny what harbinger told us in ME1, and make the whole ME2 reaper plot go to waste. Harbinger was bored and though "hey, lets study human genetic material and build a human reaper to kill some time, but we have nothing in mind really, it's just for the LOLz".
