Now is everyone on here joining the On/Off campaign or am I going to be a lonely soldier being the only one who doesn't. I just dont see the point in further action until the EC is released.
Not to say I think this new thing is bad but surley we can get a similar message across to BW by remaining here and keeping threads like this alive.
I will not be participating either; I personally believe we should stay active on the forums but not be pulling any publicity stunts like this until after we know more about the EC DLC. I also think that the on/off campaign will do more harm than good for the Retake movement.
Why?
1) The on/off campaign is going to serve as a way of dividing the Retake movement; those who support the campaign and those who don't. I remember seeing posts about "If we don't participate, the entire movement will fail," which will turn into blame for those who didn't participate when the numbers are smaller than the campaign hoped.
2) The on/off campaign paints the Retake movement as selfish, whiney, brats. As consumers, we complained of an inferior product. As the game maker, EA/BioWare has said they will fix it. As consumers, we should wait to see how they are going to fix it. If they are fixing it with spit and duct tape, then yeah, we act. I see no value in "protesting" something that may very well be exactly what we want. Protesting further makes us look like spoiled children screaming "gimme gimme."
3) I believe any action other than "wait and see" until we have more information will erode our moral high ground. EA does not need any more reminders of what is at stake; I guarantee you they know.
Perception is everything. If we are perceived to be spoiled children, we will be treated as such. If we want to be treated as responsible consumers, we need to act responsibly.
I apologize to anyone who disagrees with me; I do not wish to start a conflict nor do I want to divide us. I am merely stating my opinion on the matter.
