Hey James if this is the case I'll be the first one laughing my @ss off over here about flipping out about the endings being so Messed UP.

I hope that the games that were shot into space were locked or some such thing, I hope it's a different and much better thing than what it seems to be.

If not BW is in for one hell of a fan back lash, I just hope that they can take it like adults and not ban us for being reasonalbly upset and expressing our selves in a pilite manor.

If the endings are as mess up as the look to be, than I'm dang sure not gonna be shy and calling BW out on this whole mess.

Thats what I'm going with.  Lets look at the facts:

1.  Xio is in violation of his NDA.
2.  Bioware should know by now that we don't like poor endings i.e. DA2 (I liked it believe it or not)

You're right.  That picture (or the lack of it) is worth a thousand words.  And besides whats wrong with wanting to beleive in some magic.  Even if it is unrealistic, it'll get me to the 6th without spazzing out.

There's trolling pirates, then there's trolling contest winners who won, according to the rules, early copies of the game.

Then, there's trolling pirates with poor gameplay (see Batman), but there weren't any gameplay issues of that magnitude according to the people who played legitmate copies. They were still able to play and beat the game, which sort of renders anti-piracy measures irrelevant if players can still play and beat the game.

Then there's trolling pirates with "bad endings", knowing that info will get pirated, leaked, and turn into a PR nightmare with fans threatening to cancel pre-orders or just be done with the series. Why would people pirating the game care if the endings were bad? The only inevitable result would be to ****** off the fanbase as a whole more than a handful of pirates.

Like I've said, they either "trolled" the public, who still has a chance to buy into or cancel their orders, by generating negative buzz intentionally in a suicidal marketing campaign to spite pirates, or they just wrote and implemented an awful script/design/marketing nightmare. Based on the evidence presented, the latter is the more logical.

Y'know, as long as they fix the stupid magical teleportation thing, I'm perfectly OK with this. Then you'd have a pretty big decision to make.

As for the relays, having thought about it, any half-decent sci-fi writer could write their way out of that situation into a sequel - even one in a pretty near time frame - pretty easily.

Wrong. Pics and vids came from the pirated copy, Xoisite (who won a legitimate copy if the contest's own rules/marketing are to be believed), and, I believe, other sources as well, all of which showing the same thing and confirming one aspect that was maybe absent in another.

Why the hell would they use a bait copy that plays perfectly fine excpet for crap endings that pirates may or may not even care about, but, when leaked, would clearly cause fans to panic/ get pissed? If that's the case, it's an awful decision to make.

Exactly we are already coming to terms with the way it's going to end - we've gone through the hurt /disappointed stage, we've gone through the anger stage and now we're trying to fill in the gaps explain away/accept.

Those people are going to be heartbroken and some of them are so sure that they will have a happy ending with their love interest (I mean heck even DA2 had this in a text epilogue) and their crew will at least be explained whether they go their separate ways. Mass Effect 2 which was a suicide mission made them think they can come out unscathed from this.

Nothing would indicate to them that this is the ending. They are going to go beserk. How could Bioware have not forseen what a dangerous move this is?

I'm honestly still trying to understand.

Either they felt like doing an "artistic" ending (on which I call BS), or they wanted to make sure to avoid a "canon" ending in future games, since the endings are pretty much the same.

I don't even know if I could accept the reasoning of avoiding a canon ending :/

Synergy ending especially would make a huge difference to the universe. And Citadel being alive or destroyed can't really be ignored either, nor can entire civilisations being dead or alive now that I think about it.

If Bioware can explain away these endings or just go with a canon or go back with prequels, they could have just as easily made the effort to make a scene or even text epilogue where Shepard, his LI and his crew survive together and what they move onto.

I think it fails too, but that was the best I could come up with. xD
I'm going with the "it's art" theory. Which makes me very angry. To put it mildly.

The whole marketing "nightmare" as you call it is temporary. 

How long do you think it will take for the actual endings to get out after official release? A few days at most. Then you'll see the first articles on the web. "OMG, BIOWARE HID THE ENDINGS FROM NDA BREAKERS! TIS AWESOME!" 

You think the people who cancelled won't be back if enough of those pop up? 

And just for info, I am not saying this is what is happening. I am just pointing out that the "marketing nightmare" as you call it is not really a nightmare. They might even generate more sales from people who say "wow, that was a ballsy move."

I'd like to know this too. Weren't there TWO people who claimed to have seen the guide, and to have photos coming to back it up. Still haven't seen any photos... so my instinct is to call bull****.

His stuff looks very solid and his photos are definately NOT photoshopped. The cover of that guide is real. I wondered from time to time why the two huge aquarium in Sheppard's quarters. I also wondered why that particular fish was so expensive to the other fish. And I wondered why that particular fish was listed as a war asset.
