What are all of your guys thoughts on that new non-GoW third person shooter, GR:Future Soldier? I've seen all the stuff for it and am now considering pre-ordering it, since I've got nothing better to spend my money on now, but I'd rather not jump into a franchise without testing the waters. Is it any good?

I'm probably the only one who is willing to forgive every other short-coming than the ending in the game, just because I got my date with Garrus x)

Reminds me how I played whole DAO on PC again (I originally had only the PS3 version), multiple times, just to see the fan-made Alistair wedding mod in the end. Now if only someone could mod DAO so I could get a happy ending with Cullen, I could consider a mage-through.

I agree with you (big shock I know!). I can forgive the other issues as long as the ending is fixed. I never expected the game to be perfect or for every little thing to be as I would want it to be. I can enjoy the game as a whole as long as the ending works.

So in other words, as long as you get an ending with Kaidan and biotic babies, and I get an ending with Garrus and human turian babies, we're all good :P
Glad we're not reinforcing any girl gamer stereotypes here

Lol it would be nice to have the option but I'd settle for an ending that made logical sense!

I could forgive the short-comings in the sense that I'd still be able to play the game. But I wouldn't particularly love or enjoy it. Being a part of the Mass Effect series is both a plus and a negative in that regard.

I'd say wait for it to release. The last two GR games were fun, but not that great. Squad AI was useless, the shooting mechanics themselves were flawed, and the enemy AI just wasn't that fun to fight against.

I'm looking forward to it, but Tom Clancy games have a tendency to suffer in places original IP's don't. Curse of the Label if you ask me.

Losing the citadel should've had an impact, but it was so poorly, and so suddenly implemented that it made no sense.

As for exploring while the galaxy is turmoil, I agree that done poorly it doens't make much sense. But that's exactly what happened here with this game. Spending time getting banners and books as the everything is going to ****. It was padding, and nothing more. They could've given us a reason to go around and properly do things, but we didn't get that.

The whole game actually lost me on the element of the Reapers. Towards the end I was just like "Oh yeah, Reapers. I forgot they were in this game. Wasn't earth invaded by them or something? I forget. Maybe we should get somebody on that. I'm to busy running around the Citadel trying to find someone to eavesdrop on."

"Man, that's a big starship. I wonder how many Marauders it takes to pilot it?
...
...
...
... wait. Wait, I know what that is."

I think that turned out to be a common thought among people.   I mean who were the actual bad guys in this game?  The Reapers and Star Demon or Cerberus and TIM?  We may never know.  :?

*edit grammer... it's late and I'm tired... leave me alone :P

I don't believe downplaying the Reapers as much as they did was their intention. As much as I've been railing on these guys for taking all the shortcuts they did, I don't find it plausible that they would simply write the reapers out of the game for convenience.

That said, being forced to go up against Cerberus at every turn when we should be worried about the sake of the galaxy... as a plot point it didn't work all that well.

I'm just wondering, does anyone here play L4Ds? I'm considering getting L4D2, since apparently MP is quite fun, but I'm reluctant to buy game just for MP if I don't have any friends playing it x)

I've got L4D2 ^^

Hmm, so I guess I could give L4D a try... maybe. I actually might be able to talk at least one friend into it too, and since she is an excellent shooter (I started gaming with Crash, she did with Max Payne) it might be cool. Something to think about at least.

Probably the safer bet. My brother played the first one and I the second. Whenever we play the second one together he always gripes about how much better the first one was.

Also, have any of you tried playing Mass Effect Chronicles? I've got it on my computer but couldn't really get into it.

Can anyone recommed any good sniper games btw? As much as I enjoy Batarianing around, I am and always will be a sniper at heart. Preferrably ones in which I won't be running around German WW II soldiers with questionable political tastes in my night gown *cough velvet assassin cough* Spirits that game is bad and yet I like it still.

edit. I'm beginning to dislike the filter system.

I love playing a sniper. One of the games I enjoyed the most for it was the original Far Cry, but that might also have been because I was able to spend a lot of time sniping my father-in-law in MP Image IPB

Left 4 Dead 1 was awesome. I really did not like Left 4 Dead 2 though.

I play L4D1 all the time still.

I like both, I've got L4D on Steam (I use my cousins account) and have L4D2 on 360, personally I like L4D1 more than L4D2.... Any word if they're considering on making a 3rd one?

Hmm, sniping games. Well Crysis and Rainbow Six Vegas CAN have a lot of sniping in them as can STALKER (really, if you aren't sniping in STALKER you don't survive long). Crysis is more a run and gun afair regardless but there's a fair bit of freedom to approach the game how you want so I always carried a sniper rifle around and put scopes on my ARs.

Beyond that you have some smaller titles of questionable quality like Sniper Ghost Warrior and Sniper Elite. The former is set in modern day and the latter is set in WWII.

Not any time soon. About as soon as you'll see a Half-Life 2 Episode 3, Portal 3, Half-life 3, or Team Fortress 3. Valve is quite afraid of the number 3. After Mass Effect, so am I, lol.

But for them to make L4D3, they would need an actual reason to make it. Something to differentiate it properly. L4D2 had no real reason to even exist other than as a cash in attempt by Valve. Based on the negative fan reaction that generated, I'm sure they didn't want to make that mistake again.

Might give those a try.
Can I have a modified Mosin Nagant M/1891 in Sniper Elite? Because if I can, that's a reason enough for that game.
And let's see how many people here got that reference ;)

I don't, but I will add to my post that Sniper Ghost Warrior didn't get terribly good user or "professional" reviews. The second one is coming out in June of this year so they may learn from their mistakes and produce a superior game.

I'm keeping an eye on it myself.

Sniper Elite V2 on May 4th Image IPB
They had a show on Military History here in the UK called Top Shot and one of the guns they had to learn to use was the Nagant.

I remember reading about Ghost Warrior too. And did not get it for that precise reason.
And as for the reference, I'm not judging, not many people outside Finland do, and most of those who do get it even here, are annoying war nerds (who would probably point out it wasn't modified M/1891 but some other MN because all Finns seem to be youtube commentators at heart). :P

Simo Häyhä

Using a modified Mosin–Nagant in the Winter War, he has the highest recorded number of confirmed sniper kills — 505 — in any major war.

For the sake of reference, this is actually the greatest Finnish sniper of all time

+1 internets, though IMHO we (finns) should begin to look, and cheer, for newer younger players now. Selänne is awesome, but his career will end one day, and considering his age, sooner rather than later.

HA HA! You would post that. Go Ducks!

Probably because the modified MN is known as "Pystykorva" in Finland, and that's what it's called, even in English.
