in today's episode of the Mailbox (by Total Biscuit) he outright states one of the endings was impossible. (2nd question)

there was a news article i saw about how some game developers are now telling publishers like EA to f-off because publishers are now dictating what an indipendant game studio can and cannot do.

First, I wouldn't do it. I think reaper child has to go for me to accept Mass Effect again. I know - that's totally personal. *unless* reaper child is actually a dream.
Second - if I *had* to do it bc they were going to, like, kill my dog otherwise... I'd get rid of the Normandy scene altogether. Then I'd go thru the galaxy showing the tremendous and practically irreparable damage done in system after system that had a ME Relay. THEN I'd show systems out there that didn't have relays (takes FTP to get to them) and the varied species we all know and love in those systems, still in tact. And I'd end it by going to relays that had yet to be activated by this cycle, showing them to still be in tact. (because, hey, if they weren't activated maybe they couldnt receive the beams that destroyed the relays). But even bigger - a sample/hint of all the species living behind those relays that we never met. The world out there waiting to discover and be discovered... The future of disasters and new awesome life forms that awaits.

That was a very interesting response. I used to be a fairly big supporter of Paul Barnett. So when I watched the video, I was really floored with some of the things he had to say. It was quite disappointing. I like what Total Biscuit had to say regarding Devs listening to people other than just other devs and industry people. Sometimes when things go really wrong, it might be a good idea to actually listen to people outside the industry, especially when they take the time to actually frame a logical and rational response.

like i said you cant change anything BEFORE the colour explsion but AFTER it,
my idea is like this
1)- your shot by the reaper beam and your knocked out everything after that is in his mind
2)- the starbrat arsewipe is like a malfunction in his bioneural and cybernetic implants, there basicly keeping him alive but since it was based on reaper tech its also trying to kill him
3)- the choice he makes sends him into a deep coma and the cutscenes is what he thinks is happening
4) in reality he's still on the battlefield critacly injured, bleeding heavly and his implants are shorting out and / or damaged beyond repair
this is where it takes off
1)- your remaining team mates and the 2 that went into battle with you (if they survived) scramble looking through the rubble finding you, they scan and find your implants are screwed.
2)- they find out there was only 1 other person who had the knowlage to repair your damaged biotics but that person sarificed himself to make peace with the quarians.
3)- you take control of your love intrest for a couple of missions to seek out the memory of legion.
in short they find more than memory but a collective backup of legion (you regain legion) who suggests putting shepard into a geth suit at this point legion uploads himself into the suits hardware and uses the suit to begin repairs on some of the critical implants just enough to stabilize shepards lifesigns.
your LI then needs to go on a raid on a cerberus lab where they rebuilt shepard to get the implants needed to bring back shepard.
the short story is we all end up going on a mass suicide mission to the reaper home system to the home world to reek vengence and in the end its like the ME2 scenario (high EMS means the perfect ending a middle EMS means some team members die but you still get a good ending a low EMS means only 1 survivor which will be a random member of the cast returning back to earth and informs the admirals that its done and that he / she / it is the only survivor.

I'm hoping for closure with my Shepards crew & LI, like a reunion with LI & Crew (Shep lives) or Shepard's funeral scene (Shep dies). I'd love a "X years later" scenes showing the crew moving on with babies of their own: Garrus & Tali in her house on Rannoch, Liara with blue babies, Wrex playing with his kids, Jack, Grunt, etc..
I'd like to see ending scene or two of the Relays being rebuilt/repaired and that I saved the galaxy for the future.
I'd like to see "Control" split into two: 1- A way to just kick the Reapers back to dark space and let Shepard live. Even if it doesn't destroy the Reapers and 2- Shepard joins the Reapers for permanent control[/b]. (current control ending)
I'd like to see "Destroy" split up too, with high enough EMS you can choose to kill the Reapers and yourself (Thus saving the Geth & EDI) or sacrifice the Geth & EDI to save yourself as it is now.

What the f**k are we going to do with a mass relay? We blew up all the ones that we're connected to, so essentially we have a two-day door with a brick wall on the other side. To get them to actually work, we'd have to actually travel all the way there to build another one over there. In reality, if we did just blow up each and every relay out there, then we still have to spend 20,000 years rebuilding every damn one because of all the travelling involved. It's still a void concept, as by the time you've actually got to the other side of the galaxy, you'll have found a different method of deep space travelling. Either way, Tali is never going to reach Rannoch, or if she does, she'll be long dead and in a jar. Liara will probably be on her death bed by the time they actually get two relays working, and everyone else will be very much dead before anyone even has a chance to restart galactic community.
Or does everyone know something I don't?

I'm not trying to fix the Shepard dies part. It sucks, but unless it was a dream I think it's nuts to have a Shepard lives ending. It's like writing a fatalistic ending you can't even stick with - they wanted to be all dark so commit. That's part of what annoys me with the Normandy crash landing. And the freshly armored Shepard scene. It's like they couldn't even live with the abysmal depressing ending they created. I didn't want a dark ending for Shepard. But if I have to keep the story thru the explosions of the relays (ahem - the citadel is a relay so the sol system got two blasts) then I think you have to keep the ending dark with your hope being what didn't get destroyed by reaper tech.

I'll watch their new ending, but I can't imagine spending all the time necessary to play thru the game again just to have my heart broken all over.
They just... Destroyed Mass Effect as a fictional universe I want to live in/imagine living in/imagine stories in.
The idea that there will be other Mass Effect games blows my mind. What? Prequels? Why would I want to play them knowing the fictional universe ends for me? 100,000 years in the future? Will everyone just be green cyborgs by then no matter what we chose?
There's like... Nothing they can do but pretend away what they've done. So why not just get rid of it and do it right!
